  1. Cheers mate - first person to notice, unfortunately the 40th ann. badges on the rear left/right panels have been ripped off - bastards.. also came with - rear sway bar, HICAS, optional sunroof.. as you can imagine.. i'm VERY happy..
  2. damn rain.. first it never rains.. than it pours.. has it stopped now??
  3. Yeah it's in pretty good condition.. had an inspection done on it before purchase, they fixed up 80% of the things that were found wrong.. so i'm happy.. got a couple of things - nothing mechanical, mainly exterior..
  4. Sure is.. was happy with today because the sun was finally out + wasn't raining.. meant I could atleast give it a bit of a go when I got it.. Hopefully weather will be decent i'll try and get some good photos and put them up.. already scraped the front bar on the driveway - was waiting for this - so might have to find the driveway from hell thread.. mines a beauty! Goto also put some decent petrol in it.. but for the time being i'm happy - think it's got caltex in it.. only had it 5 mins when a blue VL turbo decided to have a go.. just cruised.. can't be bothered wasting my time - wanted to let it warm up.. lol - just smiled and kept goin
  5. Hey everyone.. just picked up my new car about 3 hours ago.. 1998 R33 Gts-t Silver.. LOVE IT!!! can't wait to take it for a proper drive.. The photos below are the workshop one's.. i'll put up some new ones once I get a chance.. - hopefully be joining some of the sydney guys on a cruise sometime.. Cheers, Links
  6. Excellant, really appreciate it - am picking the car up tomorrow - looks like everything checks out on it.. Will post pics when I get a chance.. once again - thanks
  7. Same for me as well.. cheers people.. VIN: ECR33135178 i'm getting the software now - but need it sooner.. I will be able to host it off my server @ 100kB/s once i've got it if people want a copy once i sort out the issues i've been having.. will keep people posted..
  8. well - thing is - if it has been complianced, and after an RTA check they approve it - than you shouldn't be defected as the car meets ADR and should be fine..
  9. Have you tried just looking at a number of '95 cars forsale on websites, would be a good idea of knowing what came with what.. if all of them have an Airbag, than yeah, could be a problem.. if a fair few don't than i'd say it was still a factory option than. However - all SII definately have dual airbags. can you explain what the issue is? if it has been complianced without an Airbag and has a compliance plate than you should be fine to get it registered unless the RTA do an inspection and find something wrong. In which case, take it back to the compliancers and get them to fix it for you. or are you worried about your safety and after a car with an Airbag? very valid..
  10. does anyone have a copy of the R33 gts-t S2 owners manual.. not the service manual.. cheers ppl..
  11. Jeepers.. that's a fair few things to fix on it.. personally - if the person that's selling it really isn't prepared to fix it or atleast reduce the price than walk away.. as everyone says - there is plenty more out there.. the car i'm just finished buying had 4 things wrong with it that an inspection picked up - they fixed all of them.. do you want to inherit all these issues?? just food for thought..
  12. Interesting read wrxhoon... At the moment i'm not in a finiancial position to get a tracker fitted, for the moment this is a short term resolution until I get a long term fix. eventually I will hope to have a tracker + immobiliser fitted which should resolve the issue. If they steal it than so be it, i'll catch the fuskers.. I'll consider what everyone has put up, also look into fitting a kill switch and go from there. are GPS trackers expensive? they can feed back realtime data can't they? do you have a suggestion for brands - installers?
  13. If you read the previous posts on this thread I think you will find all the info regarding brant. They have gone into receivorship, however there is still a number of private people (2 of which have contact numbers in this thread) who will install them for you. I think they probably buy the units from subaru sources?? Brant effectively no longer exist as a company.. The other thing to remember is that every single WRX has one of these fitted, i would have thought they would change alarms if they didn't feel they did an adequate job. not having brand stickers on the window is a great idea I feel.. Picking my car up on friday/sat pending RTA inspection (fuskers - teasing me like that.. having the plates right in front of me than taking them back).. so I won't be booking in an alarm till next week, so might go check out the mongoose one's this weekend..
  14. No unfortunately your aren't, even in the S2 ABS is a an optional part that alot of cars don't have. The S1 - some have ABS and Airbags, 95% won't have ABS at all, and not a huge number have Airbags.. Also you will probably pay more for a car that has these depending..
  15. How does a tilt sensor work? does it align itself when it arms, than when the sensor detects rotation in it.. e.g. car being loaded onto flatbed it goes off??
  16. Should have made this a poll.. i'm still open to suggestions.. currently it appears to be the Mongoose M80G vs. Brant Nemesis.. Mongoose has 90% of nemesis features without the keypad at $200 less. For an extra $90 i can get an extra relay/kill switch fitted.. sounds like the plan to me - i guess.. i see saw with my decisions though..
  17. - I think for a pretty much stock car you should be able to get a better price than that. - Have you looked at the S2 R33, imo they look better + are newer.. - you have options whether you want one already sold in Aus - or a fresh import.. - When getting a skyline it will be a newer car generally than a 180sx however will be slightly more expensive.. - pretty much comes down to personal preference.. - i prefer safety over old cars - hence getting skyline with ABS and Dual Airbags.. but that's a personal reason.. - You also want to look at resale price.. if you put an extra 30,000kms on it than your resale will drop.. - are you wanting private or dealer..
  18. yeah the theft rates on subaru's has gone down massively I do believe.. yeah - visible deterrants are better than non-visible ones, rather they look in the car see keypad flashing and move on than smash my window only to find out i've got an alarm..
  19. ^^ cheers, i'll check it out - comprehensive was the first thing I took out after knowing I was getting the car.. definately not worth skimping out on.. sad fact that not matter what you have.. if someone wants to steal the car, than you probably aren't going to be able to stop them.. does 3 point vs 6 point make a difference.. if they rip out the controller it's not really going to matter in the end is it.. probably better to get a kill switch put in somewhere that is very very well hidden..
  20. Cheers for the info guys.. I contacted Alan Jong, (friend recommended him) he has quoted me $890 fully installed - he'll come to me.. not sure if that includes the tilt sensor, might have to look into that.. That's with discount because i'm with Just Cars.. They are quite a good alarm, my brother has one installed in his Liberty (came with it from previous owner).. gets a pretty decent range (10m) or so maybe further, however sometimes get interference when you park near power box things on the side of the road and a couple of other strange situations.. in that case, just lock the door, alarm auto-arms and you just unlock, enter code and your fine.. not that much effort.. probably looking at getting the brant.. personally I think it's a good alarm with 6-point immobilisation (most others are 3).. only question I have is - if someone rips off the keypad, or the front dash and gets to the alarm box - can they just rip it out, hotwire it and drive off??
  21. You can't always leave your car in a garage.. unfortunately you have to leave it somewhere for a couple of hours when your out.. as for 2. well that's the same attitude my friend had.. my reply was pretty much the same.. I really don't want to have to go through the hassles and pain of having to a) get my insurance claim back B) than spend the time and effort and money it costs to find a good car and get it back on the road when I had a perfectly good car to begin with.. You may think differently that's fair enough.. everyone has a different opinion as for the keypad, well for me personally I don't think it's that much of a hassle, no different to warming your car up really some people do it, some people don't.. if that's the difference in someone looking into my car and walking away, or someone stealing my keys at a party/from my home/when i'm out and getting into it and not being able to go anywhere than I don't mind.. .... haven't looked at the black widow alarms, might have to start looking at them, are they the ones that are offered @ strathfield car radio?
  22. Sorry to hear ^^ unfortunately myself and my girlfirend have learnt that insurance companies aren't to be trusted.. ever.. and than trying to get money out of them is very very very very very.. difficult.. as for inspections/assesments.. believe me I know what you mean..
  23. The other problem many people might not consider is that every time you are pulled over the police enter this in their system.. from than on you will get a dirty look when they check your plates and probably a harder time because it will have details of previous incidents.. personally if you have nothing to hide just let them look.. it's not worth the trouble of being pulled over and them asking you "so did you enjoy your trip to (insert place where you were last pulled over)".. happened to a mate of mine who got searched falsly for illegal substances..
  24. ^^ pretty sure you'll find that the S1 had drivers side airbags most likely as factory option.. most have them, however the S2 had dual airbags in every car.. Makes it an issue for compliancing as you need to fit an airbag to the car if it came with it factory I do believe.. If it doesn't have one now.. not much you can do short of paying a couple of $'000 to get one installed.. that is if you want it.. personally i wouldn't get a car without dual airbags.. but that's just me.
  25. Interesting read this.. seeing the range of insurance.. As of yesterday, I have a quote for fully comp with justcars for my new car (picking it up tomorrow.. come on baby..) - '98 R33 gtst - valued @ $21,000 me - 22, never had insurance EVER in my life and they gave me a rating 2 because i've never had an incident and had my license for 4 years.. $2,010/year premium fully comp and basic mods (currently exhaust and factory sunroof).. Interestingly enough in case people are wondering, they have a bracket in which your car fits, that bracket e.g. for mine was $19,500 - $23,500 (which is estimated street value if they sold your car) - now if you say you purchased it for $19,500 it will cost you the same to insure it for $23,500.. so if you are getting insurance, see if you can ask what the bracket is and push the value up a bit, your premium shouldn't change.. As for the fully comp vs. third party.. My g/f's car was written off in our carpark by a maniac (belive me he was - police had to arrest him) after he went a bit crazy and reversed down our apartment drive into her car + 2 others.. she only had 3rd party.. this happened in oct/nov last year - to date.. she currently has $0 back from it. he has been let off, we've had to take the insurance agent (NRMA) to court because it's your responsibility to chase it up if you don't have comprehensive, and they refuse to pay the bills for solicitor which are >$10k.. so believe me, if there is 1 thing you have - it's comprehensive insurance.. it's not worth the trouble.. and it's not for when you hit something.. it's for when someone hits you.. or your car gets stolen.. anyways.. my thoughts.. and I don't trust half the drivers out there..
