  1. Personally been wondering this as well.. Be interested to find out if you can tell..
  2. Still a quick car mate.. Friend had one when we were in year 12 - while ago.. went fast for someone our age.. Good car to drive and decently (over) powered for someone your age and experience.. Good luck
  3. Probably less of an angle/lip hanging off the back.. Only thing is.. don't snag the exhaust..
  4. In regards to recording it.. not too sure about that - make sure you tell them you are doing it first.. or they tend to get nasty.. As for videoing it.. well you could.. not to sure though.. someone should get it checked out. Mates got in trouble for locking their phone - cop was abusing them "are you recording this.. you better not be recording this" all he did was lock his phone and the light goes on.. silly silly.. I also believe the best you could do would be to record it.. most won't let you video it. always ask for their details 2..
  5. The biggest problem with this is that your going to struggle to argue against it if they do happen to book you. Margin wise - it's usually 10% which is in line with speedo accuracy.. however victoria has a much lower threshold than NSW. As for which one they pick up.. not much you can do if you get the ticket.. unless you weren't speeding.. than it comes back to proving your innocent. I doubt they would operate if they weren't able to book you - good luck though!!! hopefully you'll be right!
  6. Hey everyone.. Got a quick one for you all.. Just got back from driving 2 x '97 R33 GTS-T's - however one was the 40th Anniversry model, other was stock.. While driving - the 40th Anniversary one - I was able to do 120 in 2nd gear.. however in the other 2nd gear maxed out at 100ish.. Does anyone a) know why this may have been and B) was there a different gear ratio put in the 40th anniversary model. The other thing I notice was that the position of 120 on the speedo was closer to the top in the 40th annv. one than the stock one.. Ideas ppl.. Cheers Links
  7. i've emailed you regarding these cars..
  8. it's great, been using that for a while.. all you have to do is copy the link, goto google paste it in.. go search.. than click on the link when it says "take me to it".. done and done.. great way of getting around it..

  10. There is a couple of huge threads on this.. check out the turbo or general maintanence forum and u'll see it..
  11. 240sx is the same thing in the US.. there is plenty around isn't there? or do they not have the 2L SR20DET??
  12. Quick question ppl.. Can someone describe what this feels like when occuring.. Went for a drive on sat in an R33 - in second car would hit about 4,000 - 4,500 than for a split second it would lag/pause/slow/stop/cruise however you want to put it for about 500rpm than it would kick in again and race to redline.. is this the same issue.. talked to the guy and he said "most likely fix it by adjusting the timing".. wasn't sure about that, seems to be the same issue as this.. didn't hear any missing, didn't feel like it.. just kinda paused for a second than came back on the power..
  13. Just got a quote in the last couple of days ppl.. what do you think. Car: '96 Skyline R33 gts-t SII - isured for $20,000 Age: 22 Driving record: Spotless Previous Insurere: None 1) Just cars - $1950 premium with $1600 excess 2) Famous, unfortunately due to no previous insurance, the best NCB they could offer was 20% while Just Cars will put me on 50% due to having my license for 4 years.. Oops.. forgot to put in what famous said - $3,500 premium.. However would prob be $3,000 due to driving record.. Will wait until I have a year of insurance @ 50% than prob look into them.. At the moment i'll prob go with just cars, it isn't too bad I guess... Anyone got any other suggestions as to where I should also check up??
  14. Personally my thoughts are it doesn't make a huge difference what car you learn to drive a manual on. The main thing to remember is what car your in and what power it has when you take off.. Don't mash the pedal, just take it easy, keep it off boost.. practice some changes.. get the feel of everything.. practice stopping quickly and remembering not to stall.. From the sounds of it you'll be fine.. just get the foundations going first.. than start to ease it in a bit more..
  15. Check this out for similar problem.. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...hread.php?t=408
  16. pretty sure thread for this elsewhere.. could be fuel pump issue.. check out the other sections..
  17. was told gear box could have been cos of it not having warmed up yet.. what's everyone's thoughts on private vs. dealer
  18. Well... went for my first test drive of a 96 R33 gts-t on the weekend.. man haven't had that big a smile on my face in a long time.. Went to North Shore Prestige in Sydney, goto say the Director Ben, very helpful, showed me what cars they had and what options they came with blah blah blah.. Went for a spin, first impressions, great fun to drive, awesome power, great handling, quite sharp for an old car.. downer: bit of a flat spot from about 4,000 - 5,000.. not sure what that's from.. also gear box seemed a bit notchy when just down low.. <- this usual for them?? Def looking into getting one, was pretty much stock with just an exhaust.. have to wait and see what the next 2 months holds..
  19. Looks good mate, unfortunately i'm not quite buying yet.. + it's in melbourne.. hopefully i'll find something in sydney that compares.. good luck selling it..
  20. Cheers for that Mason, i'm going to go and check them out in a couple of weekends..
  21. Sites for both are: www.envyimports.com.au www.northshoreprestige.com.au -------------------------------------------- Yeah that's not a surprise, alot of places like to test cars out.. and test them hard.. you've goto expect that really.. As for a warranty, you've all said pretty much the same as what I was thinking in the back of my head.. when it comes down to it.. how often does a warranty really get used. I'd rather get a car a bit cheaper, that's been well looked after.. So at the moment i'll probably hold out for a private one. Also i'm not in any hurry.. i've got time, and if it means a better car than i'm happy to wait.. North shore prestige have a couple of good cars, relatively expensive though e.g. $1,000 - $2,000 more than I would have expected.. Yeah.. taking someone I know is a good idea, also i'll probably try and get a quick check over by a mechanic, get a compression test done. The usual.. there's a good guide on here I see.. Links
  22. At the moment i'm currently looking at either Northshore Prestige which is quite close to me, also envy imports. Northshore offer a 3 year warranty and they have a couple of Series II in stock, also envy have a SII however i'm not sure about whether they offer a warranty or not. Is there anyone on this forum that has purchased from either of these, or anyone from the dealers online? ^^ Who were you referring too?
  23. Thanks for the reply.. see how it all ends up.
  24. Hey everyone.. thought i'd just say hi as i'm new around here.. and don't wanna make too much of a fool of myself on post no.1.. I'm in sydney and currently in the process of finding a '97 R33 GTS-T Series II to purchase in the next couple of months so i'm pretty much trawling the forums to find out what ppl's thoughts are and also guides to purchasing one of these.. At the moment i'm leaning towards dealer with 3 yr warranty + rego.. but was wondering if ppl thought private sale is a better deal.. edit: Insurance I was quoted $1970 from justcars for ^^ car @ $22,000. I'm not sure if this is good or bad.. at the moment it appears everyone recommends Famous, i'll have to check them out.. Anyways thought i'd just say hi.. i'll start posting in appropriate areas soon with lotsa juicy questions.. also - i've got a copy of the R33 service manual in pdf if anyone is interested.. Links
