  1. yeah nice sump. we got that exact kit on johns zed race car. the belt is quite loose to alow the odd rock thru without breaking the belt. on his motor (vq30dett) it pulls about 10" vacume.
  2. well the front diff is a 48:13 so 3.69:1 non turbo zed is 3.7 aswell. so the rear diff isnt an issue. just a gearbox. i do need a hr auto bell housing wich is hard to find aswell. but brand new from us its 400aud + freight. the ecu is a hurdle aswell. haltech rekon there ps 2000 will do i. (dont have the stock ecu no will i) but they have no idea about the "e-vtc" magnetic exhaust vtc cam. nor does link. i really want to use the variable exhaust timing as it will work really well with a turbo. looking at "handbreaks" r35 build. my motor has identical engine mountings and front diff.
  3. i got to bead blasting the engine as all the acids i got didnt leave a nice finish. inda glass bead. really small balls of glass. leave a nice satin finish with a light peening look. i got some done tonight.
  4. one way to be sure is to instal the standard cams and se where they are at. ie how far out the cam timing is with the conversion. that is if you have the standard @tdc lift figures. another thing that can change them is the valve clearance. i would get out the degree wheel and do it that way. only way to get it in the ball park
  5. does etm do a gt42 style? ie big turbo forward and angled and with 2x v44's???? rb25 in a 33.
  6. so who out there knows if a v88 or link will run a vq35hr? intake and exhaust vct. (hydro int and e,magnetic exh) manual throttles or the twin electric ones..
  7. woops. i didnt realise the vr38 doesnt have vtc on the exhaust..
  8. very impressive! more engine details/pics! what sort of ecu are you going to use? full stand alone or a piggyback? (only ask as im looking for a stand alone to run my vq35hr... with electromagnetic exhaust vct..
  9. hrmmm. could put my vq35hr turbo in it...
  10. its ok., ive a good contact over in the us. i re checked the front diff. its a 3.7. so all go ahead for awd. with r34 getrag.
  11. yeah, too wide. engine mounts are the easiest part. gearbox is the problem. being a faily new motor there is nill in australia. ebay heaps. but no one wants to ship to australia. yeah pics sucked. same camera used for the engine.... weird... cossie pistons. 8.8:1 comp. the rods are good. 480gms and rated to a conservative 200hp each. i wanted to get the wieghts close to stock to avoid and posible balance issues. f**king gearbox shit.. if i could find a manufacturer that does custom reverse rotation front diff gears id just use my ppg..

    Front Diff

    ANYONE? its a F160A model
  13. yes. if i do end up selling all my stuff i will have enough for a hollinger. the clutch i get i will make sure it can have the center hub for the chev spline like my current R3C giken
  14. gots some more presents in the mail on another note. front diff ratio is 3.3:1 FAIL front passenger drive shaft inner cv cup FAIL SO for now, it will be rwd. just need to get it in the car and all running. with my big turbo. (s400sx4 72mm) i wont have time to bugger around with gearbox adapters and custom flywheels ect etc for now. + the bank balance will not let me at this stage. to make the 4wd work i need to frankenstien a infinty front drive shaft and a r34 getrag welded to a vq35hr auto bell housing. also purchase a suitable crownwheel and pinion for the f160A front diff. and the matching rear. not a major job but for the time being i will get it installed and wired up and have some fun. besides all this has to happen in my garage lol. oh and try and find some 60mm throttle bodies that arnt fly by wire. unless a vipec can run a vq35hr with the electromagnetic exhaust evtc cam control.
  15. old thread, but if you look at the floor pan it will have the hump already there along with the differant gearbox x member bolt holes. but no threads cut.
  16. those old audi s2's really take a pounding! id like to see a rb do that... btw. its a bw sx4oo turbo. of some large dimension.
  17. oh, just for all you guys out there that think it will overspeed, on most diesels there is no wastegate. so the tubine and comp wheels are sized to let it spin to its max to produce a given boost pressure. rather than letting a wastegate regulate it..
  18. that is the problem. where does one find 17x10s in a propper offset.
  19. bozzo as far as im aware doesnt have the tooling for gears. they can make the shaft but not sure on the gear cutting.
  20. if you really need to get piece of mind just get new rod bolts and relpace the little ends.. end of story. any word on replacing your tired old valve springs? they have the hardest job of the engine..
  21. how can you tell its f**ked? doesnt look oily from the look of it its a "o" trim rear and some small 50 ish front. would be laggy and make not much power.. what truck was it off? ive a old tv81 of a detroit 6v71t two stroke. bigggggg turbine 1.2 open a/r 65mm front 0.83 a/r (gt35 next to it)
  22. if in doubt get 2 of them.. ps. my gf had 6 boost rb25 with gt35 and a 38mm ts gate. didnt seem to have any drammas...
  23. well the x member engine mountings are usless. i will have to make custom brackets directly off the chassis rails. wich should free up some room in regards to the diff and x member clearance. from what i can see, the x members job now only will support the rack and lower arm mounts. these can be simplified alot since the engine will not be sitting on the x member. ps. got for sale now my built rb26,stock low k late r32 rb26, another rb26 head complete, late rb30 bottom end, autronic smc with cdi and loom for rb26, apexi 280 11.5 cams, buckets supertech dual spring and ti retainer kit and a whole heap of other rb26 related stuffs.. gonna need some room to do this. and to top it off im moving house.... lol.
  24. finally got my engine! its abit grubby from the iced roads... but 11k miles on it. ive measured it up. front shafts: same distance/width of front diff axles ~500mm : same splines in diff/ bolt pattern of p/s driveshaft union: same distance between both engine mounts 700mm (will just fit inbetween rails.) for diff to sit in same spot the engine will have to sit 60mm forward... (have to dummy fit it to see exacly) cosworth pistons and carillo pro sa rods turn up in about a week. need to sort out a r34 getrag for it...
  25. id keep the ones you have. no need to go nuts. money better spent on a new oil pump or better cams.
