  1. you wont get any more oil up there than normal. instead you will be pumping oil thru the motor not air!! this is what people dont understand... but if you wanna pull the head off to try and kinda make a diferance go rite ahead
  2. get a commodore one. part number 86ULP from ANY SPARE PART SHOP
  3. il be at wakfield park. round 2 v8 supercars
  4. hmmm sk.. that must be your recomendation for the street going up to the shops and back. minimum 3 degrees neg on the front for the track.( 1.5 for the street) toe out about 3mm on the front (total toe) as much caster as posible. 8-9 degrees rear.. toe in 5mm total .5 to 1 degree neg camber. my two cents..
  5. for sr20 and vg30 ie: american deliverd engines. they dont do it for rb's. people use vg30 ones but tey arnt quite long enough.(this is for standard rods of course) yep arp2000 is the most commonly used arp rod bolt.
  6. thats the secret cooling system mod that gtr700 had blacked out in all his photos of his engine.(apart from the extra top radiator hose of the header tank.) you cant run it like that if your keeping the standard six throttle setup. as it removes the vacume chamber/balance chamber from the inlet. ie: no vacume take off points.
  7. from memory its 15nm. with a lubricated thread. so yeah. just nipped up basicly the same tension as the ignition coil holders.(the 12mm bolts)
  8. yes. the same aplies
  9. this is for the street. and the track. your excess smoke is probably due to oil rings/clearances not yet setteled my 200000k old gtr doesnt do it. nor does it fill the catch can.
  10. thats what happens when a conrod gets pushed the wrong way ie..dragged into the spinning crank...
  11. for the street/old pac drivers. and for the track. due to a couple of friends of mine loosing there engines from a simple lack of oil i thought id post up a easy guide on how to keep your engine from poping... GTR OWNERS: when you change your oil, fill the carnt thing up to the hump on the dipstick. this works out to be roughly 6 to 6.5 litres of oil. if the oil level is on high. it will surge just acelerating in first gear. (not to mention corners) i have done thorough testing of this and can asure you all that this quantity of oil is the MINIMUM that is required to combat oil surge in a standard sumped gtr.also a tomie baffeld one to.(makes no differance if its baffeled or not.) (mechanical oil presure guages dont lie) now. im not a fan of motul oils. but hey you guys love the shiet so yeah. using a good quality synthetic oil with a cold rating of less than 15. and a hot rating of 50 or more is the go. eg 5w60 penrite is my personal favorite. its the only one i have used that can stand up to a whole track day without "breaking down" GTS-T OWNERS your cars have a much better sump design so you can get away with using abit less oil. 5.5-6 litres of oil is suficant. the rwd sumps still have poor bafeling anyway. so fill them to just before the hump on the dipstick. so summing it up PUT OIL IN YOUR ENGINE its not hard to fill er up abit over full. it does no damage to the engine. it just keeps all those legs in bed. so following this instruction it will extend the life or your RB by a long mark the same rules aply to any RB powerd car with the standard CAPACITY sump ps.. moderator please leave in nsw section as it is aimed at our own circle. cheeres

  13. umm. dont be throwing the word karma around my friend. im sure loosing 80k worth of cars sux in anyones book. is there something i dont know about him that you do? thats ok il pretend your joking
  14. i have blown 11 of these. (fs5w71c) each one failed on the gear teath. all due to abuse and mashing through the gears. one other problem, apart from the shiet synchros is the small bearingfor the countershaft. if heavily loaded the bearing race cage can let go. this leads to a knocking sound at idle. with the noise getting quieter as you go up through the gears. good quality oil can prevent this from happening. the main problem with these gearboxes is they get "crunched" through the gears. this shock loads the gears and causes them to crack then fail. the counter shaft has less durable metal for the gear facings. its the counter shaft that is always the culprit. so a 25 or fs5r30a box upgrade is highly recomended as the metal used is of higher quality. not to mension much bigger gears and synchro rings. also the bearings are much bigger. so basicly it would be much less stressed.
  15. its located on the front a/c fan area. or the bonnet latch suport
  16. whats ftw?
  17. from what it seems its overly sensitive. this can happen from having the sensor to tight. the pistons are perfect. not a whisper of detonation
  18. omg your up ::: MY HEAD HURTS
  19. yess. oil surge is the suck. hope all are learning from this debarkle and there was no evidence of detination on any of the good pistons. so chances are you propbably had a dicky knock sensor..or they were done up to tight on the block ie.. track use you MUST add at least an extra 1-1.5 litres of oil. but any way...back the the great debate.........: for all intents and purposes a 3litre would be the go. i have given this much thought. from having a 330rwkw dr30 i know traction will be very limited on the street. so either way a 3litre or 2.5 doesnt really mater. from a budget and down time point of view id do a 2.5. but for the wow factor and ultimatly the better setup for the street id go 3litre. besides. why rev it past 7k anyway. i know mona doesnt like lag so chances are itle have a relativly small turbo. clearly the combo works whether it be with a 26 head or 25 head. so you have my support either way
  20. cool. a anti 3litre argument.
  21. thats ok. the words out. EVERYWHERE... only a matter of time before they turn up. iether the cars or bodies heheh
  22. yess, ive seen the motor in the flesh. no detonation just plain old oil surge,::: pretty boring
  23. yess. oil surge isnt nice for bearings. then she go bang/thow a leg out
  24. you would have to use the smaller disc but orrr use v35 skyline gt brakes (the povo version/non brembo) im pretty sure they are a 298mm disc so the calipers should bolt up
