Vq35hr Conversion
T04GTR replied to T04GTR's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
no speed sensors. not really necessary. atmospheric conditions can change the boost given the same comp speed. i will be running a balance pipe on the back of the engine to average the boost to each bank. just working out the heater/turbo plumbing atm. + water to air cooler plumbing+ our lease is up and have to move......... -

some more progress. secondary injectors will fit, took abit to get them sitting in the rite spot so they dont spray on to the runner and port walls and without putting the hole in the wrong spot to start with. swaybar will need some modding had some action in the backyard withe the next doors tree... -
i apologize for that, im on the same page now, after reading this whole thread. good luck with the pioneering m35 stuffs. the biggest issue is deciphering the can frame content etc etc. do we know if the vq25det has the same auto box as the 3.5?
-
pretty sure Syvecs could do it. Ryan is/has been super helpful. with the custom CAN im sure its possible. to talk to the gearbox. they do a standalone that will control a bmw 7 speed into any car. Syvecscandata.docx syvecscantype.docx the unused frames can be customized or the whole thing customized, you would just need to know what the can frame content is for the auto. this is form a 08 vq35hr 350z with the e-vtc and normal vct and dbw with stuff adjusted from the factory steering wheel buttons. so the "nissan" can is ok i believe. i abit of a noob, i dont know how to covert a screengrab into a jpg.. Syvecs came to the party with my ecu, when motec told me that i need 2x m600's+the dbw4....lol.

no room, also shortest piping possible. after some inter-netting, it seems to be the norm with inbuilt inter-coolers. if it is lazy, i can always re do it. dump pipe finished minus sensor bungs -

finished the intake manifolds apart from the balance pipe. and supports also the water to air pipes (i haven't worked out where to put it yet.) each maniflod with the intercooler is about 4L. about 1 liter larger than i hoped but what can you do... the charge pipe from the turbos will be a short 2" 90 and a 2" to 3" 90 degree reducer. the water pump for the heat exchanger is a jabsco cyclone 32gal/min.with 3/4" hose. il be using 1" hose. i chose that over a Johnson cm90 because it flows more at the same head and is more compact and cheaper -

making some headway with the intake manifolds. not much room to work with, between being to tall and wide and keeping the overall volume as tight as posible has been a challenge. this version was way to big in volume. not planning on making 3000hp.. this version was all i could come up with with the available space. -

when you have seen both motors apart, yes. forced induction is not really that much differance in cost once you include a new intake manifold for the de,but having said that, there is a crapload more bits "off the shelf" for the de. bearing diameters are all alot bigger. heads flow just as well as ported de heads out of the box. and the crank is much better, less harmonics and the block is alot stronger. with the nismo oil pump im using they are reliable to 8500. so nismo says. one thing that needs to made avialable is 3d printed rocker covers with a re-located oil filler cap, and replaceable spark plug tube seals. same for the de really. im also suprised that the full on drag guys still use the de as a base. (billet engine block) when the design of the hr block is way better for main bearing support. and if made billet they would be nothing stronger. -

test fitted the engine again. i have about 1" max bonnet clearance. i will have to shorten the trumpets a little. i want to raise the engine abit so i fit a sump extension. drivers side header is just on the inner guard. to be adjusted with hammer... passenger side header fowled on the chassis rail. rotated collector (nice having slip joints) and have to re-make no4 header pipe, -

some more progress. tacked up passenger side header, re-made no 1 runner on drivers side to look abit more blended with the others. its quite hard to make all the pipes hug each other with fixed radius bends.. -

hey all, been a while. ive been plodding along with this build. still got to make inlet manifold with garrett 750hp water to air intercooler built in (i have all the bits but havent welded them up yet.). and finalise exhaust manifolds to the twin EFR7163'S build dump pipe once both manifolds are done. (sofar the header pipes are within 1cm of each other, should sound mad.) it will hug the a/c compressor and go under the engine between the mount and x member. many more pics to do and updates will happen more often. i plan on getting alot done over xmas. (pajero evolution has soaked up some time and money lately. -

what would be a good twin setup on a built cammed vq35hr? 2x7163 would be nice pref all on by 3500 (wont be using my bullseye s372) -
i have a set of the 160lb ones. chunky injector(quite fat at the bottom) will not work in a "asnu" injector flow bench due to there electrical demand and the fact that they flow so much fuel so fast. (they dribbled and carried on, on the asnu machine then i tested them on an oldschool machine and happy days..) to be honest i think 160lb is very concervative. as for fuel pumps, i made my own using a mechanical spur gear fuel pump ie: waterman etc etc and used a thermofan electric motor with a coupling adapter i made in the lathe. works well, 14~l/m @45psi and 12l/m@200psi. about 30 amps currant draw at high pressure)
