  1. silly question, but have they been tensioned with a torque wrench? not with the first click of the elbow?
  2. would be wise to put in some new diff bushes too! the rear lowwer arm, the front mount needs to be moved down to the leval of the seam weld
  3. well its its zero point two five four millimeters (0.254mm) thats not all that bad. i was under the impression it was 2.54mm. which would seem corect to me if they are rb25 pistons (2mm comp height differance on the piston) 0.7mm lower down than rb30 wich has a zero deck height. but rb25 has a +.5mm deck height stock. so that would be your .2mm so all good. dam it im half tempted to get a stock 25 piston a throw it im my rb30 just to see lol.. so after all that, it seems ok.
  4. and what happened to the engine?
  5. on a rb26, on the underside of the head at the front there is a foil sticker. all virgin heads have them. if its gone then you know its been done. also the factory finnish is very fine. not cause like most machine shops do it. you would have to get 2 side by side and see.
  6. it is a problem. its not just dropping oil pressure, but rather pumping foamed up oil instead. you may want to get a better sump design. its a very common problem., in a stock gtr, with the oil on the full mark. just accelerating in 1st gear to redline on a flat straight road, it surges. i know this because i tested mine. just like fuel surge, if left for to long it will cause damage.
  7. does your drysump pull any vacume?
  8. very tidy plenum john, being cossi id has to be the goods!
  9. i think they should up the anti with there old starlet!!! that thing would not be far off that with some boost
  10. i believe it was doing around the 39's. pretty quick. what tyres were they using?
  11. rb30 oil pump has a matching narrow face steel inner gear for the drive. much more durable design over the sinterd 20/25/26 pumps. for a slapper id leave it alone. no crank collar or n1 pump. save you $800
  12. crank runout? like out of round, or end float? stock is around 4thou. 0 runout is stock ,anything over 0 is bad.
  13. ah haaa, you deck clearance. is 0.254, not 2.54.... it is 2.54mm isnt it, not 0.254mm so unless you want to deck 2.5mm off the block.. id be making some queries.
  14. now im confused, i get the 9.17:1 too......
  15. no. its 0.6mm looks like its not had the oil changed for ages. or has had a lrg gas conversion and the oil has been nitrated. (acidified from the lpg and not using a lpg oil) and yeah, loose crank pully. although ive not seen it happen on the timing gear, but rather the crank pulley key way. it can be fixed pretty easily, you need to get a good quality ceramic tile. shape it with a angle grinder to make a dummy key. get a good mig welder and fill the dammaged part of the crank with weld, then linish it back to round and remove the tile, you will have a good strong keyway slot. not ideal but provided the crank pully does not come loose again, will last forever.
  16. 420~ nm. for rb26.
  17. i cant belive i didnt see you either! i was in line behind walden when they were doing the fuel capacity check.. 100.2 litres, put a coke bottle in the tank to reduce it?
  18. well what a day!! 1 out of 2 of our utes finnished. the ve holden ute got 7 hours in and broke a timing chain again!! this time a double row rollmaster!! the falcon (grove) went thru for a finnish and class win. class g, crossed the line with one tyre blown out and running on the rim lol. got held in scrutineering till 10pm. lots of cars got busted. namly the easts evo. was caught with differant compound front and rear tyres. woops! also im pretty sure the walden ve got pinned for the same thing after qualifing.. so pro-duct will finnish second now! holt bmw got held in scrutineering for a while too. not sure if anything was detected. used only half of the brake pads. and finnished on the tyres we stated. still with 3mm left on them. apart fron two puntures on thre front right.. i look forward to doing it again!! mayby the holden will get a third time lucky..
  19. because having a larger one slows the air velocity down stopping the last couple of cylinders getting more air that the front few, giving a more evan distribution. like i said. if the plenum is not a great design then gains will be had. but at the cost of low load drivability. not a big loss but a loss. put a flamin mongrel clutch in and it will show its head very fast. the same reason its good to put a centre fuel feed in a fuel rail once your got a really big fuel pump,it slows the fuel flow down in the rail so each injector has time to grab the same amount of fuel along the length of the rail... there will be no gain installing a larger throttle body than the piping. oh and that on a gtr the plenum is already 80mm to begin with...
  20. all the expert engineer tubro comp map theorists asside,,,, use the factory ones. you will never have to "upgrade"
  21. dont run b8egv's its not a rotor. you need to use plain old bpr7e's, you will find it will feel much stronger the whole way thru. and with your plenum. much of muchness. getting a stock one will yield gains. both off and on boost. it may pay to have your "end of injection" timing looked at, i mean they should fire at a closed inlet valve to get the best mixture and stable combustion. also, this may sound funny but all the injectors are wired in corectly? in firing order? not 1234 but 1342 at the ecu. aka inj output at ecu,1 to 1, 2 to 3, 3 to 4 and 4 to 2?
  22. got me thinking about the whole dry sump belt issue.... damit.
