Do Skylines Really Suck Your Wallet?
Habler replied to SEB88Y's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
No, skylines don't suck your wallets dry.... It's the evil car clubs who arranage track days, the low life companies that sell quality products at affordable prices, my idiot mates who cox me into long weekend cruises through curvy mountain roads, beer companies sucking money out of me for a 6 pack while I help work on my car/mates car and worst of all skylinesaustralia making me have a huge internet bill! My car is an innocent bystander -
you will need new coilpacks, thats why the missfire is still there. Do the taping thing to see if that "temp" fixes it while running your 1.1 plugs. If it stop the missfire your problem is stuffed coil packs...

Need Advice From All U Drifters
Habler replied to suburban drifter's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I think you'll find the AE86 also came to cult status for a lot more than just being on Initial D. It was the last of the rear wheel drive Corrolas and competed in a lot of races around the world including Bathurst (well before Initial D). It also has a huge history in drifting thanks to Tsydsnfjkasnerjkl (drift bible guy) as well as being used by many of the youths drifting up on the touges back in the day most likely and ironically because of how cheap they were. I know what you mean - who wants to pay 13 grand for a stock rusty 1984 corrola? NOT ME! but all it takes is for one person to pay that price and thats what they are worth. -
R33 Sedan - Must Sell.. Only $13,995
Habler replied to Red7 Racing's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
This car is sex Do you have any pictures of the rear with the impul spoiler? Me thinks I want one... and some of those sexy side skirts awell. It's a shame you have had to reduce the car by so much. I see people on here saying they can't find manual r33 sedans WELL HERE IS A GENUINE IMPUL ONE FOR THE SAME PRICE AS A NORMAL ONE! -
yes.

As I said before... Gapping the plugs IS a bandaid soltuion. If you can't run 1.1 plugs and have only slightly increased boost, installed intercooler etc than there is a bigger problem which is most likely going to be your coilpacks. So yes Da Spike your coil packs are probably stuffed. I know a lot of people on here suggest taping them and seeing if this fixes it. Sure its a good idea which may end in you KNOWING the problem is the coil packs but at the same time if it does not fix the problem do not rule out stuffed coil packs. Putting electrical tape on them isnt exactly "the best way" to test if they are stuffed. Saying that, if you do tape them and notice the missfire/slight stutter on boost goes away get yourself some new coil packs. I just want to make it clear as I went through the same problem- gapping to 8mm is not the solution on a stockish car. You should be able to buy Nissan Iridaums 1.1's (sure they are expensive but they last 4 times as long)

Need Advice From All U Drifters

No need to let it get you angry. They are fetching those prices for a reason - becoming rarer, cult status and a lot of people want them. No different to those Holden fans that pay crazy prices for old rusty GTO's etc (I have no idea about Holdens to be honest). -

I agree with Travis with the bit that you sound like you want a turn key drift car and this is probably the cheaper way to go. I think cars like Cefiros and Laurels are not the right choice for a budget drifter though because they sell for around $12,000-$14,000 stock (due to cult status). Better off picking up a perfect R32 for around $8,000-$10,000 with better suspension, 5 stud and better brakes etc S13's are probably the cheapest way to go when buying a ready built drift car plus parts for them are extremely easy to get. But its unlikely you'll find one "ready to rip" in your price range. Maybe look into a R31's or Corrolas. Both can be had ready to drift for under $6,000 -
That was the most Skylines I have seen at a drift event. A lot of people have upgraded to them this year. Well I see it as upgrading....

If your really on a tight budget I hear those Makita springs lower your car and are cheap
-
Ahahah how the hell did the circlip fall off? Thats a weird one. Defintly get one back on there to prevent over boosting.
-
Yeah good luck with telling them that.... Then they can look into where it got complianced and go hassle those guys for doing nothing wrong.
-
Yes they will lower your car. But why not just do the whole suspension with an SK kit. The stock suspension is probably looking a bit worse for wear. You will get the lower look you want plus the benefits of new/better suspension. Just search Sydney Kid Suspension of numerous threads on the subject.

Nice build up. Can't wait to see what the paint job turns out like.
-
ahahaha leave it in because then if you crash at least you can blame the hicas instead of just crap driving or shit suspension set-up

Are 214/45/17s Ok On A Skyline?
Habler replied to Murry33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
It's not going to pop the way you are thinking. But blind Elk thinks it may pop the bead -
GreyGTST I guarantee one or more of your coilpacks are stuffed. As I learnt gapping the plugs is just a band-aid solution. It creates a smaller gap for the "weak" spark created by faulty coilpacks to jump across but really doesnt get rid of the problem. It will run fine with stock boost but when you go to add more boost (even adding intercooler etc that makes the car breathe easier could create this) the missfire will reappear. You shouldnt have to run such a low gap on your plugs. If the car doesnt run with 1.1 (stock nissan plugs) with stock or even slightly increased boost something is wrong. And coilpacks would be the first place to start Spend the $500 on some Spitfires and enjoy the benefits of the car running properly. I defintly learnt this over the last week. As for Bennett I would guess that it is your coilpacks by the sound of the symptons....I know you have haltechs ones but try to find someone with a set of Spitfires and borrow them for a few hours to see if it solves the issue then buy some. The boost sounds like its literally blowing your candles out (spark plugs) lol. And yes sometimes being fine and other times not being fine is normal for faulty coil packs. Sometimes they ignite other times they dont.....

ahahahah "roadtest" As B1 said take it to a reputable workshop next time who deal with these cars day in, day out not some yobbo Nissan dealership workers who probably service more falcodores than anything. (note. not all Nissan workers are yobbos hahaha) As for paying the price for owning a skyline - timing belts etc need changing on all cars regardless of being imports. A skylines timing belt is easier and cheaper to replace than a lot of other Australian cars.
-
It's probably something that if your not sure about you should have it done by a mechanic. It's not the hardest thing in the world but its certaintly not a brisk walk in the park for a do-it-yourself job.

Realisictly your only guessing it doesnt have a rev limiter if you have only reved it to 8,000. I have seen 32's rev limiters from factory set at 8,200. With an Rb25 in it it could still be after 8000. I'm not suggesting to go see if it is after 8,000 just pointing out that it might be higher. To solve your problem of wanting a lower rev limiter without a Bee-r = aftermarket ecu and set it yourself or retune stock ecu by someone like Dr Drift and get him to set it where you want.

pics?

Hate to say it... Hope you have alot $$$$ if your getting a workshop to do it.

Is anyone from SAU making the trip this weekend? It will be pretty much a full day of drifting with only a small lunch interupting it as there is no comp. If you havn't been before this will be a good chance to come and really get your moneys worth.
-
You can get them all from Nissan. They won't be cheap but they are genuine.
