what about last year, Vettel was going so much quicker he smashed into Webber! Time will tell but I've already made my prediction
-
Yep, what else can you buy for <$20k which is such a damn good car. I can't think what else I'd like to own (aside from an R32 GTR as a weekend/track car) until I start looking at many multiples of my car's market price.

oh of course not, no blight necessary. Webber's just slower that's all

Button Injured In F1 Accident
Kinks replied to grandmasterb's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
This just in, truck rolls on the F3. Very tragic. What, too soon? -
I must live a charmed existence because in 5+ years of daily driving skylines (Car 1: Aussie R31 with RB20DET, loud exhaust, minispool, etc Car 2: stock R33) I have yet to be pulled over for "driving a skyline". HWP got me once for mobile phone. I was part of a cruise on the central coast and was pulled up because cops were looking for someone who had misbehaved, got asked if I had a blow off valve and I just said no and he said go on get out of here. Would love to know where the rest of you hang out to get into so much trouble. I even get waved past RBTs. Sorry to rub it in but you guys gotta be drawing attention to yourselves somehow. My R33 is a daily driver and gets treated without a thought at times, but when I clean it well or spend some time maintaining it the car just seems to drive better and I get a silly grin all over again.

How Would You Build A Street Sleeper?
Kinks replied to R33_Dude's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I would start by buying "SLEEPR" numberplates to remain inconspicuous. -
pfft, that's nothing you should see parramatta road

I check my oil at 7,000RPM. It's best to wear goggles.
-
I'll do a nude run up the Pacific Hwy if Webber finishes the year with more points than Vettel.
-
don't assume anything with gearbox oil, I reckon it's an easily overlooked item. It's not a big drama to change it anyway. Same with the diff oil. thrust bearing would make a noise depending on what you did with the clutch, not the gearbox. put the clutch in first and see if it makes a noise, THEN try to change gears and see which action causes it.

Button was scratching his head about why they weren't on pace, and could see him weaving at one point trying to get heat into the tyres. I think BGP cars are too easy on their tyres, great for making super softs last but leaves them with no grip in the wet. Big advantage in dry races though.
-
Looks exactly like what RBR and Alonso have done.. fuel it light and try to dash away at the start. We'll find out soon if it works for them! My tip is the Brawn cars to menace them until they pit and then leapfrog them after the stops (as you said later). I don't feel that an early pit stop is a good option but I'm happy to be proven wrong!!

either you've got ordinary tyres or the road surface is very slick and there just isn't much grip when it's wet. I have RE001's and sometimes find the wet grip to be pretty borderline, I was expecting more from Bridgestone's "premium" tyre. However road surface makes a huge difference, old polished bitumen has low grip while rough bitumen still grips well in the wet. Rear diff choice does affect off-throttle handling, my R31 had a locked diff and would understeer badly into corners if I went in a bit hot. Any car with a 2-way would be similar but not nearly as bad. Standard viscous LSD will have no effect off throttle, they aren't exactly a tight diff.

that all depends on what tune it's whistling when did you last change your gearbox oil?

Full wets on a dry track is pretty f**king unconventional, and stupid!! Ferrari are plucking ideas out of a hat, gone are the Schumacher/Brawn supremacy days. Soft tyres on a green track is a bad idea, a short first stint puts you back into the pack and then you get slowed down. You are better off running longer on hard tyres then doing a splash 'n' dash on the soft tyres at the end. If you can short fuel and qualify up top and romp away from the pack for about 10-12 laps then maybe, but not many cars can make super softs work that long. I guess even if you do end up behind other cars it's slightly easier to overtake now than previously. Be interesting to see the KERS cars on the long straights.

You mean Sebastian's season. Mark has by some fluke of dumb luck managed to keep his car running - he almost finished his first race at the first corner remember. Unluckiest guy in F1 he even breaks his leg when he's in the offseason, anyone that accident prone should have a desk job!! Sure root for the aussie and all it's amazing we got one into the top league of motorsport but I just don't get what's likeable about him, certainly not that stupid thing he does with his forehead whenever there's a camera on him (or maybe he is like that all the time). He always has a bad word to say about someone else when things don't go his way, harden the f**k up Webber! *zips up flame suit* I hope RBR manage to keep up with the rest of the pack, it's great to see Vettel in the mix. He will show up Webber this season guaranteed, he is a very impressive driver.

How Much Resistance From A Viscous Lsd?
Kinks replied to clip14's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I thought the conventional way was doing a burnout and then going back to see if you left one line or two? -
hahahahahahahaha piss poor effort by the red team. and the silver one too.. but much as I'd love to see Kimi pull his finger out and f**ken drive for once, it's great seeing all the young talent (aside from jenson and rubens heh) up the front of the field.

I bought a bellmouth dump and was quite impressed with the quality. I went away from the split dump after hearing too many stories of wastegate creep caused by the split flange fouling on the wastegate and preventing it from opening properly. JJR have probably fixed that by now but I couldn't see the need for a split dump on a street car.

3" Fujitsubo R33 Gtst Exhaust Cat Back
Kinks replied to NYTSKY's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
interesting, completely different to mine therefore my comments about noise aren't relevant. My exhaust has a full size centre muffler and a big oval rear muffler, not a canon. They are still great exhausts though -
easy just get sloshed and eat a really hot curry the night before each race
-
So run a proper tune and recoup the cost of a cat and your tuners' time in a few weeks. Honestly if you run rich enough to bugger a cat you are a f**king moron wasting fuel wasting power and wasting money! Get it tuned. I had a friend with an EVO4 who ran so rich we used to get on the radio after he gave it a hit and go "thanks mate my fuel gauge just went up!". His engine needed a REBUILD 6 months later.

Shell V-power Tour - Q & A With Their Engineers
Kinks replied to R31Nismoid's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
asshole Can you point out to the geniuses that Racing was only available at about 4 servos in Australia so they shouldn't be surprised it had poor market share. My nearest servo was about 25km away so I only ever filled up with it once!! Loved it but way too far to go to fill up with fuel. Forget that now anyway, put my vote in for wider availability of E85. And see if you can get me a photographers pass so I can top last year's photo effort! (yay compact cameras.. no point taking the real one)
