standard, no. a lot of them had dimmers fitted for compliance though. me, I put brighter globes in. the standard dash is dimmed from the factory LEDs have a fixed voltage across them, but more than that they don't scale linearly with current. If you put 20mA through one it's not twice as bright as if you put 10mA through one. Unlike a regular bulb which drops off in brightness very quickly if you try and dim it.

it's not dangerous at all, plenty of RWD cars have an open diff. however, if you drive like a twit and disregard the way your car handles (open diffs are less predictable sometimes) then you will come to grief. remember that VLSDs are speed sensitive diffs, the only differential action is due to viscous goo - there is no actual contact so you will be able to spin the wheels in opposite directions even on a healthy diff.

ouch. take it to someone else who knows what they're doing - although in cairns your options might be limited. i would be spitting chips if my car came back from the mechanics with serious problems.

on ball bearing turbos a little bit of axial (ie in/out) is OK, and radial (side to side) is generally bad. When I say a little bit I mean you can feel it, but visually it doesn't move a lot.

Technically, the battery needs to be vented. If you're worried about it, get a sealed battery but most people don't even give it a second thought.

^^ but I used.... oh... also, the tightening instructions on the spark plug packet are for NEW spark plugs. You will get a feel for how tight they need to be when you follow the instructions with NEW plugs. Remember how tight that "feels". If you pop your plugs out later to check them, and put them back in, don't tighten them another half turn again it will be way too tight because the crush washer has already squashed flat. Tighten them up so they feel the same as the first time.

Since the R33 parcel shelf has vents cut in it for the boot area, you will never get amazing bass out of speakers on the parcel shelf. You can make your own shelf, but it would be easier to just get a sub (I have contemplated building a new parcel shelf and putting an 8" sub or two in it, haha)

no expense? I would pick a 32 GTR in a heartbeat. dream car.. you would want to rebuild a lot of it as they are getting quite old these days. but in slick condition they would be a phenomenal track car, hell some of us still have wet dreams of bathurst days gone by speaking purely in terms of percentage increase of power from the engine, R33 GTS-t. You can go from 140rwkw to 270rwkw without opening the motor and that's pretty impressive.

I had a redtop RB20 that did this, it's definitely something to do with the cold start because a few times i was holding the throttle steady, and it was struggling a bit (almost like it was running lean and retarded or something) and then like a light switch it came good and i started accelerating because cold start had finished and it went back to its normal map. resetting the ECU seemed to help marginally but not really. my theory was coolant temp sensor or something was buggered, so it was getting wacky cold start enrich values. but I never bothered diagnosing it further.

I dunno about the rims but that shagpile carpet makes me moist.

radar can be used from moving cars, so yes they can ping you even if they're driving in the opposite direction. only highway patrol cars have the radar pods though.

BOVs are there as an emission device and to reduce noise. emission device because they minimise air reversion which could be measured twice by the AFM if it is closeish to the turbo. but noise as well because most people who buy a sports car don't want it to go "CHHHH CHHH CHHHHH!!" every time it changes gears. that said, blocked BOV + pod filter = filthy compressor surge.. sounds great the throttle response thing is bogus, all a BOV does is empty the air cavity between your turbo and throttle body. The turbo speed will drop away very quickly BOV or no BOV because there is no exhaust gas driving it on closed throttle. It takes more time to pressurise the intake system again than it does to spin up a turbo, so you will have better throttle response with a blocked BOV.

I guess if you push enough brake fluid back up you end up with old dirty fluid in your reservoir. hit the brakes a few times and the dirt will rip your master cylinder seal and there go your brakes. take it to a mechanic. the last thing you want is to end up with no brakes suddenly.

it smooths the airflow under the car, and keeps mud off the bottom of your engine bay and belts etc.. so no it's not critical but it's nice to have it.
