  1. when brake fluid absorbs water its boiling point decreases... say from 400C to 350C. just pulling a number out my arse. when you use DOT5 fluid it doesn't absorb water at all, so you end up with water in your calipers which a) rusts your pistons and b) boils at 100C, which is much lower than old brake fluid boils. DOT5 is only for race cars where the fluid is bled VERY regularly. bad for street cars.
  2. how long is a piece of string? it depends on what was done, and how confident your engine builder is in his work. he is the one to ask what a safe rev limit is.
  3. as Duncan said - 120km/h on steepest setting is 4kg. That's nothing. Aero devices really have minimal effect until your speeds are higher (think 180+). Removing a rear lip on your car is a slightly different story, as the lip tunes the airflow leaving the back of the car. I can certainly see how it would make a difference at freeway speeds, if the change is significant enough. For less significant changes you'd probably again feel it at 180+, as URAS found.
  4. are you guys kidding... next you'll be suggesting gaffa tape and cable ties. replace your studs, washers and nuts. and new manifold gasket. a complete kit costs about 120 bucks from nissan and several hours of skinned knuckles and cursing. otherwise, get a workshop to do it. RB's have a long manifold with a turbo hanging off them. the studs weaken and break over the years. you need to renew them.
  5. when you crank a car it's getting pretty close to a short circuit across the battery (you pull a LOT of amps) so the voltage will definitely drop - 10V would be a GOOD figure. 8V is probably normal. maybe the cold start sensor is buggered or something? I assume there's a coolant temp sensor that's different to the one that runs your gauge....
  6. full-on shudder sounds like tailshaft issues. mine sounds like bearings whirring if you try it from too low revs. RB's aren't designed for high load at low revs. get a diesel. you are all driving in too high a gear, like bimbos who crawl up hills in 4th with their engine pinging its tits off. change down.
  7. Hi Pete, I have followed the instructions on your website, and now have the USB key taped to my buttocks. However, it is uncomfortable when I sit down. Can you address this in a future release? Thanks P.S. will try it out tonight
  8. seriously though, it's a cool looking concept but obviously for show cars, not road cars
  9. if the weather forecast is for rain then it'll be bone dry and baking hot on the day, guaranteed.

    Old Pac

saw that on the news, what a huge hole. and very unlucky to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. was coming back from gosford today and got bored of the freeway, hopped on the old road at mt white and then thought "mmm maybe this isn't such a smart idea"... plenty of tree branches and stuff blown down on the road too.
  11. unfortunate luck there Joeys - gotta be real careful in the wet with these cars!! Also decent tyres with good tread depth makes a world of difference. I minimise the amount I drive in the wet because mine are getting down a bit - been trying to find some rims in better nick but failing that will just have to bite the bullet and get new tyres. that vid is great R31's drift hard in the wet. especially with a locker find myself wondering whether a 1.5 way in my car would be a good compromise between sideways and driveability.
  12. it's a warning noise saying that you are running low on boost juice now that you're on 10psi. get a mechanic to top it up or you might run your turbo dry and damage it. seriously though, I have no idea
  13. One of my mates put a stainless manifold on. It cracked within a month. He then put the standard manifold on and the car now makes 270rwkw. Which was much more than he was expecting (he didn't want to go past 240, but got a bonus).
  14. absolutely. Back when I was ~19 i got knocked back for a mobile phone account because I had NO history of debt. I thought that was a good thing!! Only reason I got a credit card, to build up a credit rating.
  15. the coloured smoke makes an interesting difference - although if i saw it often i would get bored of it.
  16. last car saved it up, bought the car outright. when i sold that car i had some more saved up but loaned a few grand from the bank on a 1 year term to buy my current car. now I own her outright
  17. I would have jumped off a bridge. 5 years without driving...
  18. in this weather I would be crossed up all over the shop. and that would just be getting there
  19. exhaust + filter are very minor mods, I think a remap would be an expensive way to gain a couple of kw. box the pod if you want good performance, otherwise you'll suck in hot air. otherwise stick to the airbox.
  20. that would be great, Pete.. appreciate it I figured if someone else wanted it I'd tell them to pay you and then say put the 20 bucks as a donation on my behalf but it looks like the donation method is all automated so I'll put it through my control panel instead. Less chance of a cock-up that way!
  21. I'll take it. USB converter for sale, $20!
  22. they look like they're in good nick - is the clearcoat still clear? (mine is crazed due to heat/age) would you be willing to ship them to sydney?
  23. my rock hard tyres would be perfect for sideways.... heh.
