  1. Precisely. As mentioned bigger brakes will only mean that you can stop from a higher speed without fade or multiple times without fade. We're assuming the brakes on both cars are adequately sized for at least 1 100->0km/h stop. Remember the old adage "brakes stop the wheels, tyres stop the car". Small brakes can lock wheels no problem, your braking is limited by the tyre's adhesion with the road until you reach the point where the brakes start to go off. As for who will stop first, the heavier car will have a bigger contact patch proportional to its weight. The Cf shouldn't change IMO because at a given point on the contact patch the tyre can only push down on the road with a force equivalent to its internal pressure. So the braking gain of the higher car is related to having a bigger contact patch. I think both cars would be fairly similar really.
  2. Doubt I'll make this one but I'll let you know if my plans change!
  3. I've got a spare RB20 box but I don't think that helps you. Besides, the synchro on 2nd is stuffed (according to the previous owner)
  4. I'd book in some dyno time to get the gears adjusted just how you want it. You can tell the dyno tuner your objectives and they'll do the best they can. You'll also have an objective (sic) confirmation of your car's new power spread...
  5. .. but does that mean we can't go? :bahaha: I'll think about it
  6. Too late... you've f***ed your chances now
  7. You mean aside from the obvious?
  8. at the end of the day, Aaron did give us a bloody good price and it's just unfortunate things have been mucked around. Occasionally that's just the way it goes. as for not answering the emails he's also trying to organise things and probably guessed that all the self-identified SAU guys will hear things through the grapevine anyway, which we have. Can't argue about not getting top service when you're not paying top dollar, I know Aaron's an awesome aussie bloke trying to make a living doing what he loves. I don't mind, he's got my money and next available opportunity i'm doing the course. plus whatever drift days are organised through him in the future, the last one was great.
  9. spotted a tidy grey R31 series 3 (I think) near rydalmere this evening. Sounded good too, we both checked each other out and waved.
  10. nice purchase mal.. should be fun - it'll have a heap of torque so it should get the back out no problems!
  11. I've got a reasonable amount of power (nothing huge, but enough) and I only managed to send my outside tyre bald. I'm still a newbie though, I'll be giving the next set a MUCH harder time
  12. good question, they claim they're maintenence free I've washed mine in turps, didn't really clean that much crap out. I might try washing it in water next time. Either that or just buy a new one when it looks like mine
  13. Yeah it can be a bit like that As it turns out I probably would have come, the car's running nicely atm and I've been punting it everywhere Anyway, I'll be driving it tomorrow so I'll live
  14. if I feel like a drive and it's on I'll come and say hi.. but don't hold me to it
  15. LOL Might have to go the R34.. I notice they don't have any R31s.. gyp
  16. As people have said the standard airbox with a cold feed is most probably better than a pod sucking in hot air. If you are going for a pod though, check out: http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/filters_test/2/ I'd be going a K&N or Apexi myself. I've got an Apexi on my car at the moment, but it could do with replacing as it's had a fair life by the looks of it
  17. so everyone's doing it on the 21st then?
  18. ditto, cheers for organising
  19. did somebody say oran park drift day? (translation: IN like a mofo)
  20. I'm busy during the day, depending on what's happening might come out for a look later on.
  21. I was there, hanging out my r31 in small but increasing increments I seriously doubt I'd be good enough for a drift comp tho! :bahaha:
  22. I'm also in for whatever day we all end up doing it.
  23. I only made 1 tyre bald Next time I promise I'll get down to the belts!!
