  1. If you like AWD keep the rex, you will probably be quicker in it because of this. If you want RWD (or IMO a real sports car) test drive the two and then decide. I use to have an JDM s15 and picked up a 33 4 days ago, i'm still deciding which one i like better. The skyline is better day to day though for sure, but the great ocean road will be the test. Also the JDM s15 had extra 30kw, factory boost gauge, digital climate control, rear wiper, folding mirrors, different badging, different colored interior trim, no gay reflectors on the rear bar, different tail lights, xenon headlights, and a 180km/h speedo. There may be some other minor ones.
  2. Considering the cost of the vehicle itself and then the wheels also. Do you think that sort of money would really phase the owner. I sure as hell dont.
  3. I'm in some serious need of help in regards to buying speakers for my R33, as I simply understand nothing about car audio. I also dont want to spend much money I currently have sitting around: JL Audio W6 sub (boxed) Audiobahn A4075HCT amp (4ch, 4x75wRMS, 2400w ACH power) Sony Xplod head unit (not sure what model cost about $800 3.5 years ago) I need to buy some speakers (front and rear) to go with ths setup, and I have no idea which ones to go for. But I would like to keep the stock mounting point, no bulges or anything. I use to have some MB Quarts speakers before but not anymore. Please give me your ideas on speakers, also what they would cost.
  4. I think they would be a good base for a cold air box and feed. They would need some piping to get cold air from somewhere. And could well do with some heat resistant material suck on them, maybe the stuff from clark rubber.
  5. Firstly the simple answer is pick a power level and purpose for that power (eg, strip, drag, drift, ect) then go for the smallest turbo that will do the job. This will give you power you want and also the response that makes a street car fun. Secondly remember these 'professionals' are making money from you if you buy through them, if you go for a 3040 then they also make money off the ext gate, and then the new manifold when they say 'you know you could improve the response/power if you got this lovely manifold' and you go 'hey thats a good idea'. These forums are the best source of skyline knowledge in this country listen to what people here are saying. My personal suggestion is to scab a ride/drive of some cars with these different setups, then make a choice from there.
  6. Maybe a silly question, but how does one go about recalibrating the speedo? (cost? time needed?)

    Cruises

Any of the roads up around Mt Macedon are fantastic, very nice twisty sections. A cruise up around that way would be great.
  8. Could someone please PM me Ben's number also. I need an alarm and some stereo gear put in ASAP. Cheers
  9. Also dont buy the first one you see. Check a few out so you can get a feel for what a good or bad one actually look/drive like. There are some good deal out there.
  10. No it wasn't.
  11. Best way to do it is to register a business, and register your parents cars to the business. Then register the suspect vehicle to your parents personally. Very easy to trace and not very difficult, but I found it worked well for a good 3 years.
  12. Has anyone investigated the old "only car in the family" loophole that allowed people to drive hi-po cars if it was the only car they had access to. I got that exemption when I was on my P's, but as I have no need to investigate now I have no idea if that provision is still there.
  13. Check in the RB25 turbo results thread, its a sticky in forced induction. Thats the best place to fine results for various combinations. (Most have dyno sheets so you get a really good idea of the power delivery) I'm going to be aiming for that power level (250ish) also when my line arrives, and the turbo will be a sliding performance hiflow. My research suggests this is an awesome bang-for-your-buck turbo, plus it looks stock.
  14. Thanks for the help guys, much appreciated. I think i'm gonna go with stylyn. I gave them a call and they were very helpful.
  15. No matter what happens you will find yourself in worse circumstances than if you were simply late to work. But not as bad as if you had run up the back of one of us lisenced folk while being disqualified. My advice is book an appointment with the best lawyer you can find and get some advice, this will most likely cost you upwards of $200 for an hour. But it will be the best advice you can get. Given your past decisions advice is somethng you appear to have been lacking in te past. Good luck.

  17. I cant believe I read this whole thread! Thats 10 minutes of my life I will never get back
  18. Stylin is looking the goods so far. Does anyone know if they are happy to install alarms supplied by the customer?
  19. What you were told is in essence correct, however. It all comes down do what is documented by police/epa, and as a direct result of this, what they can prove. Some people have been asking why police take photos of your car when you are defected, it is so they can keep track of your mods. For example if you are continually defected for 2 intake mods, boost controller and/or ecu but every time you get tested by EPA your car passes they will wonder why you keep getting sent back. If the police can prove that you have these mods usually, but are simply removing them in time for EPA test then you can find yourself in trouble. I have always found that with EPA it's a case of; 'I'ts not illegal until you get caught'. Many cars pass Mcleod with things they shouldn't, (I have personally passed with atmo BOV, aftermarket ECU and variable boost all at once!) you just need to work out what they look for and what they dont.
  20. Cheers for the help guys. Keep the suggestions coming.
  21. Where are some good reputable places in vic to fit and/or purchase a top quality alarm from?
  22. PM price of slotted rotors for 33gts-t please.
  23. Has the car got Volk GT-C's on it? I saw a beautiful 34 with those wheels on Wednesday night around the Tan in South Yarra.
  24. Thanks mate, nah they are 5 stud off a Supra. I was worried they might just be too wide, but they just might fit.
