  1. Contact: Luke Zietara, Marketing Manager FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Email: [email protected] Extreme motorsport Battle slides into Winton Drifters revved up to fight for title of Drift Champion in simultaneous battles both on and off the track. Saturday, September 8th 2007, sees Winton Motor Raceway play host to this year’s hottest Drift event, the Driftline Drift Attack. Organised by the Victorian Drift Club, Pro Class and Street class drivers will be competing in fierce rubber smoking battles for the win; fighting hard for a prize pool worth over $5000! With so much at stake, drivers will undoubtedly put on a crazy, heart pumping performance to claim the winnings. Originating in Japan, Drift is an alternate form of motor sport to the common drag and circuit racing. Described as a controlled slide into oversteer it is carried out through a serious of continuous corners; it’s not a race of time but rather a race of style; like figure skating for cars. The Driftline Drift Attack event offers spectators the rare chance to strap in for a white knuckle ride with an Australian Pro Drifter in his finely tuned beast, so they can really experience the exhilaration of sideways action first hand. A must see highlight in the day’s jam packed agenda is the Team Drift Competition; teams of up to 5 cars hit the track simultaneously and aim to mimic one another’s, speed, line and angle creating a compelling display of skill and wits in order to impress the judges and crowd alike. The Show & Shine display sees a collection of Victoria’s finest pimped cars flaunting their wild paint jobs, pounding audio systems and static visual tricks for the pleasure of patrons to admire and be inspired. Bragging a Victorian first, the day will also host simultaneous drifting both on and off the track thanks to the Radio Controlled Drift Club battling out a competition for title of RC Drift Champion. Australia’s leading Drift retailers in parts and accessories are participating at the event in Trade displays, demonstrating and offering first hand advice on their latest products and services for those interested in modifying their car. With the amalgamation of so much drift related activity in the one spot, this jam packed, action pumping, pimped day is one you don’t want to admit to your mates you missed. Be there, Driftline Drift Attack at Winton Motor Raceway, Saturday, September 8th 2007. Winton Motor Raceway, 2 minutes off the Hume Highway, 9 km’s north east of Benella Victoria and a mere 1.5 hours North of Melbourne. For more information go to: Vicdrift.com

  3. I need to inform you Guys and Gals that Vicdrift has been told by Calder Park that they will be running the track themselves with out our assistance. This is not our choice in anyway!! What we can tell you is that i do not intend to run the begineers section at the bottom end of the track.. They will run beginners sessions through out the night on the main track with a shorter start line. To our knowledge there will not be any tutors for begineers that are drifters.. If you guys have any questions about the Calder Park practice nights you would be best to contact Calder Park by email or phone. Email: [email protected] or [email protected] Phone: 03 9217 8800 Or take a look at there website for info. www.calderparkmotorsport.com.au Cheers Luke :sorcerer:
  4. Yes this is going ahead with some changes to last year. Calder has confirmed 4 Wednesday night practices so far, these are: June 28 August 30 September 27 October 25 We are in talks about the possibility on weekend events in the evening. There will be tempory tyre barriers installed on the edge of the track at the Entry of turn 1 of the Drift Nats track, and also these tyre barriers will be installed on the left hand side of the track under where the bridge use to be and also on the outside exit of the last turn coming onto the drag strip. So if your going to spin your going to want to try and keep your car on the track surface or Spin to the inside of the corner. Entries will most likely be capped at 70, and not knowing how many new drifters are going to appear with the release of the Fast & Furious 3: Tokyo Drift Movie, so i would highly suggest getting early or pre entering through VicDrift for these events. Entry will be $90 and $20 for spectators. The Victorian Drift Club Rules and Regulations will apply at these Calder Park drift events. So anyone that has not been to a VicDrift event this year i suggest you have a good read of these. Victorian Drift Club Rules And Regulations 2006 Drivers will also have to be on there best behaviour as we need to build a good relationship with Calder park so that we do not end up in the same situation as we were 6 months ago, where Calder Park had no intrest in holding drifting at Calder Park again. So spread the word and get some spectators out there with there Winter/Ski gear, so that we can hopefully get a weekend evening event happening. Also i would like to see drivers and spectators still making the effort to get to Winton Raceway for our Practice days as Winton is a better track for drivers and spectators. Cheers Luke

  6. A Great Day in a safe and controlled environment! It was interesting driving the car to be as quick as possible, but a drift setup doesn't really work for that. Good work buy the guys and girls who ran the day. Some beautifully presented cars also. I hope to see some of you at the VicDrift day on the 11th of March at Winton!! Cheers Luke
