Sorry mate, but I'm almost certain its not a coil issue. If you read all of my first post, I said I swapped coils between two cylinders and the miss was still on the same cylinder, so in my mind that means its not a coil.
-
So that is the coil module. Ok, I'll check that, but what/how should I check, apart from just making sure the wiring is still good with mltimeter?
-
I'm fairly sure that a compression test was done at SPI when they complied it, as it had a problem, which ended up being a cracked hose. The compression test was all ok, and he said coils and plugs all good as well.

Hey guys, (Car is R32 GTR with 120000km, cat-back3.5, pods and EBC) I finally found some time to have a look under the bonnet today, and after unpluging the coils one by one I figured it was no.6(closest to firewall) that was the problem, as the engine sound didn't change when I pulled that one like it did on the first five(its always the last one you check!). So I definitely have a cylinder not running for some reason. First up I pulled the three rear coils out and checked them. They looked ok to me, but I don't really know what to look for in a faulty one. Then I swapped 5&6 coils and started it up again. Same deal, dropped another cylinder when I pulled the plug on no.5, but no change on no.6. So pulled the plugs out, cleaned them up a bit(no.6 had a bit of carbon ccrap on it) and blasted them with compressed air, and put them back in, in the opposite holes. Same again, still no.6 the problem. What do I do now? What is next on the list for me to check? Any ideas, hints? I had convinced myself that it would be a dodgy coil, as everyone talks about them playing up. I don't know what to do now, as I had hoped to get it running properly before taking it in to get the PFC in and tuned.

So who'd buy an evo with wind-up windows and no radio? Is it a weight saving measure? And where are the Recaro buckets?

Unfortunately, I don't think it is true. However, I have seen at least two online parts retailers selling Greddy/Trust front pipes for $450au and (i think) $250us, and both times the picture provided was of the hot "all in one" dumps/front pipes, which I believe are worth $1000+ I presume they are selling normal front pipes only, but whats the go with that, isn't it false representation? Especially when one of them has under the picture "Image is representation of product."???

Crd Dyno Tuning Of My R32 Gt-r.... My 0.02c!
liber8_d replied to williamsf1's topic in New South Wales
OK, so this is a case of different types of dynos giving different readings. Got it. And I wasn't bagging any workshops, I said that BEL is one of the top tuners; at least thats what I'm led to believe. -
Crd Dyno Tuning Of My R32 Gt-r.... My 0.02c!
liber8_d replied to williamsf1's topic in New South Wales
Doesn't anyone else think that 205AWKW is VERY low for an engine with all that gear recieving 1.45 BAR? Yet this was tuned by BEL, one of the top tuners? Or am I just being silly? -
Bah, its LHD anyway.

I agree with Coupe-This, its not worth it, probably cheaper to sell your N/A R33 Auto and get an N/A R33 Manual. Answering your questions, I don't know how much the geraboxes sell for, and if you have to ask if you can put it in yourself, I'm thinking "HELL NO! you cannot." I can see that you are new to the forums, so I advise you to use the search function, which should be under the skylineSAUstralia banner at the top of your page. It might take a while to get used to, but if you keep asking questions like the ones you have already, you will start to cop alot of flak. Just try to find out as much by yourself first, its more fun that way anyway.

Basically a turbo timer is an electronic device that you can set for a certain amount of time, and it will let your engine keep running for that amount of time. Yes you can get one if you dont have a turbo.

Advice On Exhaust Parts For R32 Gtr
liber8_d replied to liber8_d's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Yeah, I've seen the Trust pipes; pretty sweet, but I dont really want to spend that much right now(maybe later when I do it up properly). I dont mind mild steel. It is ok to use isnt it? Wont rust away too quickly or have any other bad points? Its only a pipe to carry away exhaust gasses after all. -
Need Insurance? Want Cheaper Insurance?
liber8_d replied to two40's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I still haven't got my GTR insured. 22yr old, light mods. Was about $3400 last quote from Just Car, but I've heard its gone down some. I hope so. -
Hey guys, My car has currently got a cat back exhaust (3.5inch), and I of course want a full turbo back system, so I'm after a pair of dump pipes, front pipes and a high flow cat. Now I've searched the forums but they dont really provide the kind of info I'm after, so what I want to know is, where can I get decent quality exhaust parts without paying ridiculous amounts of money? I've looked up a few of the import shops and found a couple of different front pipes and dumps, available 'off the shelf', but I'm not too keen on spending $1000+ just on dumps and front pipes. (A full exhaust with custom extractors was $1000 for my Liberty). Is that kind of price my only option or are there better deals out there? What does everyone else do? Get them made up by an exhaust shop? Off the shelf? Custom made frontpipes and off the shelf dumps? Should I just get front pipes and a good cat, and leave the stock dumps? If you have any recommendations for products or exhaust shops(ideally in the Wollongong-Sutherland-Campbelltown area, NSW), let me know please, post here or PM. My next step is to get a quote from Sureflo in Ingleburn, but I'd feel better if I knew the exhaust shop had experience with these. For reference, my car is an R32 GTR with cat back 3.5inch exhaust, old school EBC, and pods. Stock turbos. I also have an ARC airbox yet to be put in(need filters) and a PowerFC yet to go in. I dont want huge power, mainly response + mid-range. About the only other major mod I'd do after those listed above is rebuild turbos, or GT-SS or equivalent Garrets. Also, if theres anyone else out there looking for similar parts, drop me a PM so I can gauge the possibility of organising a group buy, as I'm sure a fair majority of Japanese imports arrive with 'cat-backs'. Thanks

Anyone?
-
My R32 GTR currently has a 3.5 inch cat-back exhaust, and I want a full, turbo-back exhaust, so I'm after front pipes, dump pipes and a hi-flow cat. I'm interested in new or second hand parts (new only for cat), so if you have second hand exhaust parts available, or if you can supply new parts to suit, please either post here or PM me. Thanks
-
Paul, I'd also be interested in the PFC boost control kit. Let us know if you can get these and what price etc. Everyone else, I got my PFC in Paul's last group buy, and had no probs; the PFC arrived very promptly as well.

Yeah, if you don't know what you are doing, take it to get tuned by someone who does

Fatz, your mates a tosser. Whats oil at these days? $50 US, $60 or $70 US? I know they get about 100litres of petrol out of one barrel, so thats $60/100=60c. So 60c plus a few cents of production costs etcetera and its up around 75c. By the way, my girlfriend is a petroleum engineer, and she says they are always discovering more oil, and finding ways to extract more from each well. And I know myself that oil is a reproducing(very slowly, I know) resource.

Thanks for your comments guys. I now believe that SWAT is an owners group or club, but now I'm puzzled as to why my car's previous owner had a Stagea club's sticker on his ECU of all places. I mean, fair enough if he has a Stagea or likes them, he could have put a sticker in his window, or on his dash or somewhere visible, thats the point of stickers right? But on the ECU which is behind a panel? I'll have a look at the ecu and see if I can tell if its been fiddled with(I've been told what to look for), and I'll let you guys know. By the way, I'm thinking about getting a Stagea when I finally cave in to family pressure and sell Godzilla, but just dont tell the GTR guys!

(Car is 1990 R32 GTR, recent import. Mods: cat back exhaust, pods, EBC) I just pulled the panel off in my passenger footwell to access my ECU (about to put PowerFC in), and found my ECU has a SWAT sticker/badge on it. After a moments dreaming my car had been used by the U.S. 'Special Weapons And Tactics', I thought I'd try to find out what this was. Now after a search I know SWAT stands for Stagea Web for Advanced Tune, and is apparently a Japanese tuning house for Stageas. Thats all I found. Has anyone ever heard of these guys tuning GTRs, as thats what I assume a sticker on an ECU means, and what is the overal opinion on their quality of work etc? Thanks in advance guys.
