Why would you do that? What for? To get what done? Not having a go at you or anything, just want to know your reasons.

liber8_d replied to JDMimports's topic in For Sale (Business Traders)
Hey Charles, Can I get prices on the following please> Team Arospeed RS-GT 17x7 With and without tyres if possible(include tyre size) 18x7.5 With and without tyres if possible(include tyre size) (edit-sorry, car is R32 GTR) Thanks. P.S. Did you get my email regarding the seats? -
Hey guys, I will hopefully get my R32 GTR this week after 600 years waiting. What should I be doing to it when I pick it up? Has about 120k kms on it. (unsure if timing belt replaced or not.) Of course I'll do a full fluids change. And another change fairly soon depending on what the old stuff looks like. And oil filter and service/replace the pod filters. I'll also be putting in new Iridium plugs, probably NGKs. And almost certainly replace the timing belt just to be sure. What else should I do/get done to make sure its in good condition? Should I take it to a mechanic and get compression/leak test done, or anything else? I'll go right over it visually and try to find any faults I can of course, and maybe take it to Pedders or the like and get them to check it too. Should I take it to a professional shop to get a full service or do it myself with my mates(I have a friend(best mate's dad) who is a Aircraft Engineer that is qualified as a motor mechanic and helps me out for low fees i.e. usually a case of Boag's) Is there anything I'm forgetting, or anything else that you would recommend? Just asking for advice from people who have been there before. Thanks, Mat P.S. I did a search and found very little info on this topic, but I it wouldn't let me go more than 3 pages into history. If you want to have a go at me for not searching first, don't, just go read another post.

R32 GTR wheels and tyres

Hey mate, I'm interested in your R32 GTR wheels. Where abouts in Sydney are you located? -
Imported Wheels In Stock. Avail From July 1st.

Why such skinny wheels Charles? The Koenigs are about the only ones that are 8inch or wider. I thought you would have got wider wheels. I'll be keeping an eye out to see what your prices are tho, especially on the RS-GTs, but I don't know what kind of tyres I can get onto a 17x7inch rim. 7inch is 177.8mm, so I'm thinking around 225 might be around the max, but I'm not sure. If you've got anything else available soon, new or used, with or without tyres, for R32 GTR, let me know (She gets into Sydney this week) -
Haven't named my GTR yet, but I haven't got it yet either(Hopefully it is in Sydney next week). I had a coutesy car a while back, and we all called it 'Pokey'. It's number plate was POK??? and it also had no poke whatsoever(old pulsar vector, bright yellow)
-
That time is definately possible. The car would have to be fully stripped, or more likely built as a tube frame, and running some pretty big numbers out of a turbo engine(I cant see 150 kw atw getting you there, but maybe), and with fat slicks. It all depends on how light it is. 400kg? 300kg? They are pretty f'ing light cars. Also, changing the drivetrain of the car to RWD or AWD would help. I saw something on a mini panelvan/wagon that had been converted to rear-drive and it had a (I think) Rover V8 which was from memory either rear- or mid-mounted. Don't underestimate the old things, a well prepped Mini would own a lot of decent cars on the right track.

There is that. And also he could promote them on the basis that they wear quickly and I'll be back for new ones soon=another sale. On the other hand, if they are crappy, I may not go back to him, and might tell my friends he is an a-hole who doesn't know tyres. Now that the tyre dealer psychology/ethics discussion is out of the way, does anyone else actually have Marshalls, and what are they like?
-
He could have tried to sell me much more expensive tyres.
-
Does anyone have Marshall tyres? Are they any good at all? My local tyre guy thinks they are a decent tyre. I'm looking at 235/45/17 for R32 GTR. Just want to know if anyone uses/has used them, and what they think.

APEXi POWER FC +COMMANDER $980 Shipped
liber8_d replied to HASHIRIYA's topic in For Sale (Business Traders)
Hash, can you give me a price for a PFC + Commander for r32 gtr delivered to sydney. Also, delivery timeframe/availability. Thanks -
Pretty well your only two options are a Datsun 1200 ute(rear wheel drive) with a ca18 turbo or SR20 turbo conversion or a Subaru brumby (4WD) with an EJ20 turbo conversion. Both would be fun cars.

NSW BANEDS ALL P PLATERS IN TURBOS JULY 2rd
liber8_d replied to scottman's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I think this is a load of BS and just a band aid solution like Menthu_Rae says. This doesnt take into account the whole picture. I'll give two "examples": 1. A WRX has a turbocharged engine. It also has excellent brakes and pretty good handling. A standard commodore has neither(brakes might be ok, but not excellent). If the young drivers of both do happen to have a bit of a fang, I know which car I'd feel safer in. 2. Al gets his Ps one year before his mate Bob. Al drives his mums Mirage(nothing against mirages) to church every Sunday and occasianally elsewhere for an average of 20km a week. Al gets his licence so he can drive to work and averages over 500km a week. He also gets involved with a car club and participates in proffesionally supervised driving activities. Why can Al drive a powerful car 1 year before Bob? Because he doesnt have to wear a little piece of plastic on his car? This is just a bandaid solution, but I know a real solution would be too hard too develop and implement, I'm just having a whinge. Any car will do potentially fatal speeds, and a powerful car will only go as fast as you drive it/tell it to go. I think they shouldnt ban P platers from driving powerful cars, they should just ban F@#$wits from driving completetly. And no this will not affaect me or my soon to arrive GTR with 400hp as I already have my P's(nearly finished actually). -
I spoke to a trimmer on Monday and he said that its a pretty well a waste of time trying to retrim the GTR. Reckons the backseat is no probs, but the door panels and front seats are made in moulds or something and put together in some way that makes it impossible to re-do. I can't remember exactly what he said. He said that every retrimmed skyline he had seen at shows etc didnt look right at all and they never last. This guys was only a little shop in Kirrawee(South of Sydney), but he is only a few hundred metres from JustJap(where I had been moments earlier and who recommended him as they use him themselves), and he owns an R33 GTST which he had tried do for himself. What do you guys think? Should I go for another opinion, because I can't really believe this?
-
Thanks for all your advice guys. I had of course planned/budgeted for a full service including changing all fluids and filters etc before I do anything else. What else should I get checked out or replaced if I want it to be (reasonably) reliable when I "enhance" it a bit after? Thanks
-
I was hoping to get some idea from the forum members, but I might go and ask around a bit. Only thing is my car isnt here yet and I don't know how seriously the retrimmers will take me if I start asking questions about a car that for all they know I'm just dreaming about.
-
Daniel, What can your guy do for my stock GTR R32 turbos? I'm only looking for a bit more out of them (maybe 210-230kw atw) with reliability. What cost for rebuild with steel wheels, and what cost for hiflow etc? What do you recommend?
-
Yeah dude, hopefully. I'll def do the photos too. I have no idea at all either, and my car hasnt even arrived yet so I cant even take it to a retrimmer for a quote, thats why I hoped someone here might be in the know. I've heard from different people, "Should be around a grand." "My mates mate got his silvia done for 1500, but that was cash man." "You wont get it done for under 2500 cash." I have no idea really, I think maybe between the last two somewhere?

Hey guys, I'm still waiting for my R32 GTR to turn up, and I'm trying to get as much organised as I can before it gets here. Its pretty well standard except for (as far as I know): exhaust(unsure if cat-back or full), twin airpods and boost controller. I'm interested in getting a bit more out of her, and I've come to the conclusion that the turbos are what will hold me back. What are the specs of the turbos? Are they ceramic on exhaust side or both or what? Is it worth getting them rebuilt or highflowed? Or should I just leave them and get a PowerFC and finish the exhaust(if it needs it). I realise these questions may have been asked before, but I'm a newbie so I have an excuse(and I did have a bit of a look before posting) Thanks

Hey, just wondering if anyone has had their car re-trimmed lately. I'm looking at getting mine (when it finally arrives) retrimmed probably in black or dark grey leather with colored stitching/piping. Its an R32 GTR so front GTR seats, back seat and door trims. I'd be keen to hear from anyone who has had a retrim done (or an upholsterer even), and get some idea on cost. So anyone who has had any interior work done(any car, and not just leather) please post here with whatever details you want to leave. Thanks.
