What can i do about my handling?
MoonButt replied to a topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I would go for a strut bar to stiffen the chassis a little and then go for koni adjustables shocks all round. Finally a wheel alignment to factory specs. This way you can control how hard or soft you run your car daily. -
checkout www.whirlpool.net.au and make the comparisions yourself. Moonbutt

play around with a tire calculator. taller tires give a higher speed reading. found one here http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html moonbutt

What I tend to do as a standard to my car is that " If the item and or fliud is unknown best to change it with a known item." This way I am able to control what goes into the car and not to worry anymore. In the case of clutch and brake fliud fresh is best naturally. If the fluid has been sitting around in the garage or in a car for a few years they tend to absorb water leading to corrosion in the lines down the track. MoonButt

Worn clutch or clutch pedal adjustment needed???

Duncan, Having thicker oil usually hides a problem with the gearbox. Moonbutt

mmmm..... the feel of baby oil on your skin while driving a skyline in the nude. LOL!!! cant get any better than that!

my 2 cents. 12 litres in the little MK1 MR2 MoonButt

I believe they use nitrogen in aircraft tires. Prolly because they dont expand like air and the pressure in the tires stays constant. MoonButt

Another place where you wont be able to arm your car alarm is in the car park for the telstra tower in canberra.

I have the same problems with interference with wireless equipment in the chatswood area..... one day I decided to look up before I get in the car. Staring back at me is the big TV broadcasting tower for channel 9!!!! Man!! That tower could keep you toasty warm if you could stand in front of the dishes butt naked! Thats my theory anyways MoonButt

Have you tried bleeding the air from the clutch lines?

LOL .... More like New King Shit!!!! -
I dont think you should clean platinum plugs. They have a very thin coat of platinum. If you use anything harsh like sandpaper it damage them. Just leave them alone. If your car isnt running well have it checked out. Keep the shiny side up!!!

I would go out and buy an AUTOTASER if I knew where to get one in OZ. By comparision it has better features than the old Club lock. Built in alarm and electric shocks to boot. If there was another way to increase the voltage I would be willing to do it. I would love to go into the garage in the morning and walk over the would be thief writhing on the floor. LOL MoonButt

Batmbl are you getting a series 2 gtst? i still havent decided in a r33 series 2 or a r32 gtr
-
I took a r33 gtst out for a spin yesterday and wasnt all that impressed. Maybe it was because the car was in a severe need of a tuneup or service. Firstly the exhaust was loud at idle and while driving within the posted speed limits. Had me reaching for panadols after 10 mins. And I think the BOV wasnt set right because it kept venting even when changing gears around the 2000-3000rpm mark. Is this normal? One last thing I noticed was that while accelerating to get onto the freeway the car hesitated/stumbled at around the 4000rpm. Is this right or was it just the boost cutting in?

*puts away flame thrower* I am planning to keep the AW11. But dont have the heart to have that converted to an SC. When I got it 6 years ago it only had 52,000 km on the clock for a 1987 model. It now has 113,000 and counting. Reason for the R33 is that I might need the extra seating capacity and the air conditioning.

Thanks... after being in the MR2 for 6 years I'm kinda used to it. Dont want to move up to a Skyline and feel like I'm in a bulldozer. It's not all about performance but more like the looks, reliability, and handling..... well maybe not performance but performance potential. Take the MR2 it could go in for a supercharged engine swap but having a semi leadfoot I'll be collecting tickets in no time.

I was wondering if anyone has ever owned or driven a AW11 MR2?? How would that compare to a R33 GTST. Aside from having more power on tap is it as tossable as an MR2???

I've been lurking and reading up on car alarms and such.... It seems like everyone seems to vote for the Autotech brand of alarms. Could someone tell me how much would it cost to have one fitted to a car? And also does it have the facility to SMS the owner and can the owner enable/disable or get alerts if the car has been tampered with? Thanks p.s. Havent gotten a skyline yet. But looking seriously at getting one sometime soon.
-
My thoughts exactly. I just like the looks and the possible performance potential. And if it is going to be the daily driver driven off boost for 70% of the time it has to be close to stock as possible. What would peeve me off to no end is to have a fully modded car that could be driven quickly from service station to service station.

Does anyone know the size of the boot? Or have pictures of one?

Thanks. I'll take a look Anth

I'm interested in getting a R33 GTST in the near future but before I go out and buy one could someone point me to a website or document on what some of the terms mean. I do understand the basics of turbo charging a car. But some terms like bleeder and EBC. Is the wastegate the BOV?? Is it better to import a partially modded R33 or get a stock standard car? With boost controllers could they be turned off? I understand that turbos cant be turned off . But my question is that could I turn the boost down to a point where it at a minimum. and maybe turn it up when I go out for a run. The reason for asking a question like this is that the car would be a daily driver in city traffic for monday to friday but on weekends it will be taken for a blast up into the mountains or freeway runs. And what should I generally look for in a car? Thanks Anth
