  1. Thanks predator! I'm thinking about porting the box and then using some aluminium foil tubing to duct it into a better position for intake Lucien: with resetting the ECU on the 34, is it just enough to follow the steps in the other forums (disconnecting negative terminal, drain battery / power, reconnect then drive)?
  2. So when I do that, do I still need to drive it really hard or can I just go as normal?
  3. Doesn't the stock air box in the R34 take air from top down? So if I was to cut the bottom like you, wouldn't the air bypass the filter and go straight to the AFM... this could cause damage as the air is unfiltered?
  4. Reseting the ECU.... hmmm interesting - will the stock ECU be able to do this though?
  5. LATEST UPDATE: Just went down to my local AutoOne and ordered my K&N Panel... I'm relying on all of your advice for this one! It should be here on Tuesday or Wednesday so I'll be looking forward to that big time. One thing though, the guys there told me to drive the car pretty hard after initial installation so that the ECU can reprogramme itself to the new filter... is this true? Thanks again, Will keep you all posted on the effects of the panel install!
  6. So just out of interest, what type of power increase (or other increase) will I be looking at after installing this very expensive strainer?
  7. So a panel filter will be noise free? This is in comparison to a pod filter that has a distinct "woosh" sound... I'm not too fussed about noisy or not noisy so long as it is within the law and does not attract trouble.
  8. Heya, I want to upgrade the air filter in my GTT so I've done a bit of research and found the following information: 1) Air Panels in the Stock Box is Good (no heat shield required) 2) Air Panels are legal / not defectable like pods 3) Air Pods require a lot more work to install and maintain 4) Effectiveness of both is about the same, differences are almost negligible Please correct me if any of the above seems wrong or ludicrous. However, my mind is set on a new panel filter to go straight into the air box... as such, I'm seeking wisdom on the following aspects: 1) Brands + Model Numbers 2) Price 3) Power Gain Achieved 4) Overall Benefit I am asking this because there seems to be a lot of brand loyalty floating around, but i'm sure as hell it isn't a level battlefield... if you could give me some insight into this, I'd be most appreciative. Thanks Stan
  9. I'm up for the drive, but 6:30 hmmm - will have to convince the missus to wake up though. What's the number like now?
  10. I think this will speed up going to work from the North... about 1/3 of the drivers in the Transit Lane (3 person minimum) don't belong there. And likewise, heaps of people get busted every morning.
  11. Car alarm and immobiliser chrips each time I press the remote button *DUH* Don't really mind it except for those times when you need to get in and out of your car and people around you just think you're nuts! Also another thing is the immobiliser self arming, gets me every time as it takes about 15 secs no matter what you do/don't do. Other than that it's fine.... I'd like an option though~
  12. Yeah I understand that, but I'd like to know what products specifically... it's all very good to say FMIC as per 33, or ECU as per 33 but in reality each car has its own needs.
  13. Need to find out what people are doing to these first... I can't find much on the R34 in the forums.
  14. Hey I got my R34 from these guys in the north (northshoreprestige.com.au) and it is a complete charm. I'm still yet to find out if $28K was a bargain or not for a Tiptronic GTT with 38K kms on it, but go visit their site and I'm sure you'll be surprised, if you are serious about it, I could probably organise for a better price as well since I have a personal connection with them.

    Go Karts

I'm having my month long schedule re-worked tomorrow so could someone please set a date and price so I can stay in Australia and not be cast away to NZ or somewhere knowing I missed out on karting??
  16. Yeah, heaps of price variance happening here... but can I get some thoughts on whether you all thought it was worth it now that you've had it for quite some time? R34 owners, please tell me if I got ripped?
  17. Just curious to see what everyone paid for their pride and joys... also a good reference to see what people should be selling them for (if ever there comes a day). My Skyline: 1998 R34 GTT Auto Tiptronic Nismo White 38K Kms Totally Stock (Direct Import from Japan, 1st Owner in Australia) Grade 5 Car $28,000.00 in June 2005 with 12months Rego and Warranty PS: Can someone please tell me if this was a fair buy? Most say it is, but some think otherwise...
  18. Just look at the BMW range of cars and you'll see why the in-line 6 (or straight six) is by far better than the V range of engines. They are a complete balance both in geometry and dynamics...
  19. R34 Tiptronic Not jumping with joy, nor am I balling with misery~ Reasons: 1) So other people in the family can drive it 2) About $8k off the price tag 3) Only car at the time that met my condition requirements
  20. WOW thanks, they are the cheapest I've seen as well!
  21. I think that for all Manly/Warringah cruises the best meeting spot is simply inside the Mall... on Friday nights it's pretty much deserted. I mean no offence to anyone who may have an extremely lowered car - but saying that, Warringah Mall is not that evil about that.
  22. Thanks for that mate... just like calling help desk at work about IT
  23. I'm looking for a Blank Nismo Key for the R34 which isn't going to cost me an arm and a leg... so far I've seen them for anything between $75.00 to $115.00 which doesn't include postage. I'm from Sydney, so if there is any place where I can pick one up for a good price - please tell me.
