  1. Is there anyone in Aus doing the combo catch car/windscreen washer for GTR's? ...as per the pic... Thanks for any help...
  2. Anyone know what should be used? Is it just Dexron III? Cheers...
  3. Perhaps I should pose the question another way. Is spiking of up to 0.2 bar under some circumstances normal for a GTR?
  4. Is the timing belt tension manually adjusted?
  5. To clarify, I can't hear the noise inside the cabin when driving. It is only really noticeable when parked and most certainly when the bonnet is up. Initially, I was concerned about the noise, thinking that something was "wrong". Since then, I haven't been overly conscious of the noise.
  6. Any time I have had an engine apart I have matched up the manifolds and cleaned up the casting dags. I feel that this much work (not very much) is worth the effort.
  7. I think most people fit the solenoid where the standard one is normally located and then attached a hose from the intake manifold to the solenoid, and then from the solenoid around to the other side of the engine where the wastegates (turbos) are. This makes the boost control system really long, which will tend to cause spikes. My thoughts are to block the original vac/boost line from the manifold and add a barb fitting to the turbo compressor collector pipe and use that as the boost feed for the wastegates. I was wondering whether anyone has done it (with success) before I go hacking up my car. Cheers...
  8. I have been playing around with boost control on my GTR, using an AVCR and two types of bleed. So far, I have had the best result with the bleed type boost control. (I have since been advised that the AVCR is a bit of a dud on a GTR, due to spiking and generally inconsistent boost control.) I have been trying to beat the spiking that I assume is caused by the long feedback length of the boost control system. In contrast, on my WRX the boost feed line to the wastegate comes off the compressor outlet, so the pressure signal gets to the wastegate very quickly - no spiking - in fact you need to tune out creep. Obviously, in the GTR as the pressure feed runs off the intake manifold, the manifold is seeing pressure before the pressure signal makes its way to the wastegates, so some spiking would seem unavoidable regardless of the boost controller type. Anyhoo... getting to the question... Has anyone tried/considered tapping into the pipe that connects to the compressor outlets for the pressure signal for the wastegates? (say, drilling and tapping a hole and fitting a hose barb?) This would make the length of the boost control system MUCH shorter and should get rid of the spiking issues. I suspect that the AVCR might even work with this set up. Thoughts anyone?
  9. The noise I have is a whirring noise. After listening to it again tonight, I think you might be on the money with tooth profile or something similar. I have a Gates belt and new OS Giken gears. Perhaps you wouldn't get the noise with the original gears???
  10. Great work! Very helpful. I have a question, which I hope isn't too silly: Does the Power FC control the stock boost control solenoid?
  11. I had a Gates installed on Thursday. Today I noticed an annoying amount of noise, so I thought I would look on the forum to see if it's common. "i have heard of people complaining that the gates belts are quite noisy... " Well, there you go...
  12. I have been using an LM-1 for about a year on a WRX semi-race car. It has been reliable and very helpful. I log the 0-5 volts to a Race Technology DL1, when I remember to turn it on (about 50% success rate on that ).
  13. Out of interest... Has anyone on here actually paid a premium for a number plate or know of anyone (first hand) who has? Is there really a market?
  14. Like many it seems, I had the problem with getting 2nd gear when first starting the car up in the morning. Sooo... heeding the forum advice, I replaced the g'box oil with Redline Superlight Shockproof (R34 GTR). Woo hoo! Liquid gearbox rebuild - 2nd gear even when it's cold!
  15. Yup. I'm in for R34 GTR. Cheers...
  16. Can anyone recommend a car audio installer in the Camberwell, Hawthorn or Richmond (VIC) areas? Thanks Clayton..
  17. Wanted: Original R34 GTR Wing. Cheers Clayton..
  18. Big THANK YOU!!! Had a look at an R33 GTR on the weekend. Advertised as a Vspec, badged as a Vspec, but alas - NOT a Vspec.
  19. Yes it is. And thanks, I will take up that offer. Cheers...
  20. I am currently having a bit of a look for an R34 GTR. There are a few for sale at Gran Turismo Autos in West Melbourne. Has anyone dealt with this dealership before?
  21. It's On!!!
  22. I would estimate that slicks are worth the noted amounts of time over R spec tyres at the following tracks: Phillip Island - about 4 sec Winton - 3 to 4 sec Sandown - 2 to 3 sec Calder - about 1 sec It would be fun to get a data logger, road tyres, r spec tyres and slicks together and see what the differences are on the same day at the same track.
  23. Roy, Cheers... I have thrown in a couple of times when running Dunlop D01J's. The difference in the Winton times would also be due to more power for the quicker time.

  25. "See if you can find another street car that has beaten the Racepace GTR times! " Yep, that's mighty fast! I actually run in the WRX Club events with Frank. It was actually Frank's and Aaron's results at Morwell recently that have me a bit fired up about getting a GTR. I was originally thinking either STi or Liberty GT, but after seeing those two guys monster such a tight track as Morwell, well...
