  1. Clint, I'm sure he doesn't mind me saying, but Chris32 fitted a set of the new RE55S from Bridgestone Gouger Street, 235/17 rear only. They are the next model on from RE540S. Assymetric though so you can't take off rim and swap left to right. Anyway, he loves them and he was getting good grip in the wet as well. I'm sure he'll give you the low down. They look real hot as well: Also, how's the R33 HICAS kit going?
  2. Yep, it's a rich mixture but has the power so I don't mind, Tim and Shaun's doing. Good to see you blew that git away! Only have 2 points left on license so have to take it easy for a while. Good luck with 3L!
  3. Joel, Was that you driving along Lonsdale Hwy last night, about 5:20pm? Following a black R33, me
  4. Mine makes a ticking noise from the rear of the engine on the exhaust side and after I fitted an EBC and did some dyno work and a drag day I noticed a couple of rear exhaust studs had broken off. So now I have ticking and also the fluttering noise at idle, particularly when cold. So it looks like you have same problem. The guys at RPM said not a big issue, but it will get worse. The heat cycling on the long steel exhaust manifold next to the alloy head causes bending and in the end the gasket and then the bolts give way. Anyway, hopefully thats all it is mate. Might just need a new exhaust manifold gasket down the track.
  5. Great stuff Matt. I may have missed it but what is the turbo setup exactly? Ext or int wastegate? T04r Garrett or HKS? How is the car idleing these days?
  6. No idea mate. What is the idle problem anyway?
  7. Guy here in Adelaide would, Steve Cramp from Manta Racing 08 8234 8688, he's working on GTR suspensions all the time and I only saw today in the workshop an R32 GTR with adjustable Castor rods, not sure if suspension design the same for R33 GTR. Give him a call. My problem is with tyres for sure. Top mounting nut a bit loose and lubrication of some spots has fixed the nervousness and creaking. S03s next.
  8. Hi, I'm after clear indicators for my 400R front bar that look good. I've seen some with trailer indicators that don't look too flash but I've also seen some wicked looking clear ones that fit in the hole perfectly and are nice and flush with the panel. Any recommendations and from where? Thanks heaps.
  9. Hi Matt, Sounds like a cunning plan! What is Tim's comment on the timing issue? Do you have an approx date for the 550cc tune? Cheers, Lachlan.
  10. I didn't think these were available yet, good idea though as they are supposed to be v.good. Who are you buying from and how much?
  11. Steve, Are you picking up the car this arvo? I'll be in Edwardstown area around 5:30pm if you are, would be good to check it out.
  12. Looks so professional mate, love it.
  13. Well you know what they say, it's what you do with it that counts!
  14. MattR, so just mild porting do you reckon or upgrades valve springs/guides etc?
  15. Didn't want to get into the argument about why I shouldn't rev to 8000rpm, I just want to know what the motor is capable of both in terms of valve gear and also bottem end of a TOTALLY stock (unbalanced) motor. Then I can potentially match a turbo to that safe rev range.
  16. I'm sure you can if you had a big housing that holds a big turbine and it was0.61, it would be fine on an RB25DET. The turbine size on a 3037 is 60mm/55mm so I reckon 0.61 will be perfect. The housing AND turbine on Boostd turbo is significantly smaller if the turbine is 42mm (major or extuder?), so at 0.61 it caused surge. BTW BOOSTD, did the RX6 have an int. or ext. wastegate? Steve, do you have a picture of the turbo side on so we can see the size differential between the compressor and turbine housings?
  17. What is the max safe rev limit a stock RB25DET motor can handle?
  18. There are a few guys around that would be perfectly OK and tune your car professionally. I think John at TT might be limited with the ECUs he deals with, i.e. Autronic only, might be wrong though. I agree with Clint32 that you can't expect a tuner to give a garantee. Jase, since yours is a 32, keeping the stock ECU and do a retune is an option, then your choice is limited re tuners, I think Martin @ Morpowa is the only guy in town that an do it...again correct me if I'm wrong there. If you want to go aftermarket ECU, and therefore best for later engine upgrades, due to the 6 x throttle issue, MAP sensor ECUs have trouble with light load stuff, so keeping the MAFs is best, so Power FC or Motec is all that can be used with MAFs. Plenty of guys can tune with them, Martin (Morpowa), Shaun (RPM), Mildren, Tilbrooks (maybe not Motec), D1 Garage.
  19. Go Kmart Auto!!!
  20. I recommend Kmart Tyre and Auto Service. They are excellent and also give a guarantee. They got an extra 20rwkW out of my R33!
  21. Thanks Steve, fair enough. However the HP rating is not for the compressor only, it is for the turbo combination as a whole that takes into account the turbine A/R. Smaller A/R lower the HP rating on the Garrett charts. So the question still is with the same ultimate HP rating at the same nominal boost, how does each combo behave across various boost pressures and engine RPM. The turbine size is of course important for boost response but how about the difference between a big turbine in small A/R housing vs small turbine in big A/R housing as per the examples above???
  22. Any takers on the combo question?
  23. Good stuff, can't wait.
  24. Clint, how is the R33 version comming along? Lachlan.
  25. Sydneykid, You see on Garrett and/or HKS tables you can have turbos with various combos of compressors, turbines and housings that can have the same ultimate power output, for eg; GT30/T04S at 550HP Comp. 0.7 A/R, 56T, 2.25"/3.00" Turb. 1.06 A/R, 84T, 2.16"/2.36" GT30/GT40 at 550HP Comp. 0.7 A/R, 56T, 2.41"/3.22" Turb. 0.63 A/R, 84T, 2.45"/2.68" Another example in the HKS range, GT2540R at 370HP and a GT2835 at 380HP using different combos. I fully understand the concept of A/Rs etc etc, but my question is what different characteristics would say the above Garrett turbos have compared to one another, even though at 1 bar they have the same nominal power level. Would one have more power at lower boost whereas the other can keep flowing well at higher boost? Also which combo would spool faster at the same boost setting. Freebaggin.
