mate if it was the radiator it would get hot when driving and under loads like going up hill like mount ousley. Id be looking at your engine fan operation. Ive replaced a few clutch fan assy in R33s, you can buy the clutch assy for around $110. It wont hurt to get the radiator flushed, but at least test the fan. Can do this by grabbing hold of it. It should spin freely when the engine is cold, but should be very hard to stop when the engine is up to temp. The reason i think this is your issue is that airflow provides the cooling when you are moving and the fan provides the airflow when you are stationary.

at the end of the day you build your car for you, not for other people, and the reward is when other people comment on your build, that is good enough trophy for me. Even when Duncan whinges about my old pushrod dino-line, its a compliment, trophy enough. Plenty of people went home with no phisical ornament, but lots of possitive comments.

heaps of cool setups and combos to be seen with big singles hanging everywhere but this was my favourite. love twins.

ha ha Liz, they were probably waiting for me to drive it off the side lol. Good to see you could make it, better late than never Did you hear the Blue bird fire up at the end of the day? it was off tap.....awesome. Oh and Bobby, let me know if you are selling that beautiful N1......i love it.

i can honestly say that this was one car i went back and had a couple of looks at.......stunning seeing the cars that you all daily drive made me a little jealous. but was still happy to get my line out of the garage even if i only drove it 20 meters. still got to make some noise lol. put the commonhore to shame. big thanks to Charles & Clinton for helping me load up. Also excellent to meet some members in the flesh. Great effort by everyone involved. Car of the day for me (besides Winfield GTR) was the black R32 gtr...Fat 32. just a special car, and a real nice bloke who was the rightfully proud owner. thought i might be a chance on best engineering until i saw the work that went into the rear end of the r31. really well done and definately different. anyway, 3 return trips to Westmead in 2 days has caught up with me. Thanks to all those who wished my daughter well, we are now home and resting up and all looks good. hope to see you all on the track soon.... Stuart

hey guys, didnt think i was going to be able to make it. My eldest daughter had heart surgery at westmead childrens hospital on monday afternoon and i have been up here sinse. i had written the day off but she is going great guns and i have been given a day pass. it means ill have to drive down 2moro morn at 5 to load car and then bring it back up. just wondering if you will be able to help clean her up once i get there as i havent touched her for a couple of weeks, and if something goes pear shaped i can get a lift back to the hospital and someone look after her for me. I know it is a big ask but dont want to miss such a big event on the SAU callender. Anyway, hope to see you in the morning. I may be a little late but still hoping to get there at 9

How Do I Install An Oil Presure Gauge
BezerkR32 replied to r32gtr92's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
the line is under pressure you tools, if it fails, which i have seen many of the plastic ones do, there is a good chance you could turn a bearing, especially if you dont notice. but im only a mechanic, what would i know. -
think i might be a spectator only, daughter still at Westmead hospital. Id have to drive home 2moro morning to get car, bring it up, then take it back, then come back to the hospital. plus depends on how she is going. Only option is for someone from home to bring it up. and take it back, and i just come across from the hospital...we will see what happens.

no problems, the guy tuning it has definately done the correct thing by letting you know. when you bought the engine you should have got a reciept with terms and warranty conditions on it.......in saying that i never bought any engines that had been modified so the warranty might be a little different. i hope it all works out.
-
so i take it you wont be going lol.
-
mate, dont jump the gun, run the engine, if it has been sitting it could have a pumped up lifter or some carbon under a valve that could cause a compression issue. put a mild tune in it and drive it, it will come good. The place in which you speak of will replace the engine if it is faulty, i know this as on a few occasions i was sold a dud, one was a ca18 that wasnt fired until 18 months after purchase and they replaced it as well as refunded me the cash for the seals we replaced. The customer supplied this engine, it wasnt even purchased by me. This stuff hapens often, its not a one off. Get a second comp test done, i recently comp tested a astra and got funny readings that all but condemned the engine, but turned out my guage was playing up. These places will warrant 30 days from start up, but also specify that you replace certain items on the engine, such as water pump, timing belt & thermostat. Replacing rear seal and timing case seals is not necessary but recommended while the engine is out. i can understand your frustration but all i am saying is make sure of your diagnosis before going on a rant that will make matters worse. What Boost Is R33 Ment To Sit At Idle
BezerkR32 replied to schnorky's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
ahhh ok. im sure nissan would have designed a vacuum leak into the intake system to aid smooth idle lol. -
Spark Plugs,can They Affect Idle?
BezerkR32 replied to aleisha's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
vacuum leak will cause high idle, did you leave a hose off? should have also gapped the plugs down , not up. .8mm is good. -
How Do I Install An Oil Presure Gauge
BezerkR32 replied to r32gtr92's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
do yourself a favour and return the mechanical guage ( guage with oil capillary) and buy yourself a electric guage ( no oil capillary) which means no possibility of oil capillary failure causing oil in the car and destroying engine. then buy a fitting that screws into engine block where existing oil pressure switch is and fit bothe senders. wire up guage. -
thats a good point. what is entry fee?
-
whats the go with the side-pipes? whats the DB limit? i so want to come.....this is discrimination lol.

Just wondering who is going for a look this weekend, Saturday looks like the best day with quali, shoot-out and race 1. Also Chisel on after. looks like no expence has been spared, should be great and the cars will sound awesome in this environment. Looks like the fords have a firm grip on the championship with only a slim chance ov Will being able to catch him but still ads some excitment. Hope to see some of you there..... Cheers Stuart

How To Mount A Harness 32 Gtr
BezerkR32 replied to josh23457's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
hey Josh, either have a taxi-bar fabricated or mount them straight back to the rear parcel shelf. just have to plate the underside. But the taxi-bar is good for cage strengthening anyway. -
you entering Duncan?
-
its not hard at all if you know what you are doing..it does require the removal of the radiator and therefore a cooling system bleed....suggest replacing the belt while your in there.
-
looks like ill be the sole v8 competitor, is there even a v8 class this year? opens maybe.......shit
