  1. thanks guys, her name is Ella Jade. She is doing well, put on 440grams last week. Going to have a play with the car this weekend, firstly going to test the valve springs as the mechanical missfire at high RPM can only be them, and have heard some rumours about Comp valve-springs having this problem. Get my missing 20 killer wasps back. Going to remove and repair front bar, swing a spanner over car and fabricate an engine cover/intake duct to insulate the intake from the headers and direct some air from the front bar. Also going to check for any damage due to my off track excursions lol. Hope to have it ready in a week so i can go to next event that pops up.
  2. The Stig????
  3. hi, there is nothing wrong with getting a heavy duty pressure plate for a bit extra clamp but i would recommend an organic clutch plate. an off the shelf exedy clutch will do the job and drive like stock, as for the flywheel i wouldnt bother in your situation.
  4. So Mark banged in to Rubens, shit happens, he had a little brain explosion, usually its Rubens baning into everyone lol. Its done, the penalty served and no harm no foul. lets get over it and look forwad to Hungary. Red Bull one two anyone?
  5. Unbelievable, who was surprised with the drive thru penalty? no one i bet, thats standard Webber luck.... I actually thought it would have been Rubens hitting Webz lol so it was something different. I nearly turned it off but thought he still might be a chance if it rains..... When he did the drive through behind rubens and came out in clear air it was perfect. RBR stratergists got it spot on. Gave him that 6 or so laps to let loose, Even the stop to put him back out infront of Button later in the race was spot on. It was all perfect. But at the end of the day Webz still had to punch out solid laps to consolidate. 34s on the harder tyre was excellent. Well deserved and overdue win.....SB did well after a horror start but still shows he struggles when not on pole. But in his defence passing looks non existant.
  6. go mark & go roy lol. great effort from sutil.
  7. and i was so looking forward to watching the race at a reasonable hour on 1HD lol.... http://www.planetf1.com/story/0,18954,3213_5421588,00.html
  8. was that entirely necessary? i dont want to be on the other side of the fence.....
  9. i ran Repsol sythetic oil in my w/shop for over 5 years, also run it in my go-karts, have found it to be excellent. At the end of the day people all have their favourite, just make sure when you buy an engine oil that it has been API tested which is an independent testing proceedure that tests that the oil meets or exceeds the specs specified. Alot of oils on the shelf at your local auto part store have not had this testing, therefore might not meet the specs specified....it is a round stamp on the back of the container that will have API SJ/SL for example. It costs the oil company a pretty penny to have this testing, probably why they all dont do it. Also dont mix up oil grade with oil viscosity which is a common mistake. Running the incorrect viscosity oil could see you loose performance. while the incorrect grade could cause damage and or blockages in late model common rail diesels. im not surprised the Castrol performed poorly. Castrol was a swear word in my shop lol.
  10. i thought 400km around town was pretty standard. i havent done a long tip yet. im not fussed really, my vx commodore was lucky to see 300...
  11. thanks for the well wishes guys, Mum & bub are at home and doing well. Hey Tristan, bit early for me to leave the wife alone i think, i wont push my luck yet. have to buy a drum of fuel and give it a check over as i havent had a look under it since i went off a couple of times. want to repair the front bar too. i think we have another one in a couple of months, and i might take it down to wakefield before then. hope your well for OP, youll have a great time. Caution through turn 1 lol.
  12. is it 2500 for everything or just the engine? box is well priced but engine is about 1k too rich. 3k for the lot.
  13. Eug the track junkie lol. good group of people make it a good day. im keen.
  14. sounds like a day at the track could be more fun standing on the wall with your fly down fatz lol.
  15. im not sure if you can depend on TV, i watched Lewis Hamiton run around in 16th for at least 10 mins last week when the battle was up-front between MW and Rubens, WTF.
  16. yeh thats what i thought, i pretty much stayed even with the black skyline that had issues later in the day. that thing was quick. Adrian might have the tyre size incorrect in the formula.
  17. hey guys, i dont have a speedo but i was at 5800rpm in 5th which is 0.7:1 ratio on around a 26" tall tyre, we used a moroso calculator to work out top speed and it said 237kmh, that cant be correct surely.....
  18. sorry as there has been no updates as i havent touched the car sinse OP, have been preparing spare bedroom for my daughter as to prepare her current room for my new arrival who decided to join us at 11.55am on sunday morning. Gorgeous little girl weighing 3kgs and 50cm tall. Mum and new daughter doing well, still havent named her. ill give it a couple of weeks for them to settle in at home and then ill be back into it. Thanks for all your suggestions and input also, just have been offline for a while and unable to reply till now.
  19. hey mate, i also had some full lock issues on my car, the tyre would touch the castor rod on lock. I made some steering stops to prevent it, but found on my track day i never got near full lock anyway, well except when i had to turn it around on the grass to point forward again....... i know its not the same as a 4wd but just what i found.
  20. shit mate, didnt want to start an ECU war, just wanted to give you a heads up.... shame you guys cant manipulate the standard ecu, but running the afms restricts what your plumbing on the intake side anyway, but depending on what power you want to make a pair of z32s are good for 400kw anyway. these rbs dont seem to like making more power than that for large periods of time. not when you turn them too hard anyway. Good luck with your ECU choice and your build.
  21. sorry but its still unclear how that damage was done by removing the balancer.....by the looks of it the balancer has come loose. Looks like it has rubbed on the cover too. To remove the balancer you use a puller that bolts to the front of it and pushes on the centre of the crank. How could you damage the crank under the pulley? Id say damage was existing, thats why it was difficult to remove. and in all seriousness the damage is minor and wont cause any issues. The fact that you were made aware shows that they are a reputable shop. Ive had to burn crank gears off engines, CA18s in particular are bad for siezing them on. It is possible when removing them that you can mark the crank. but you are limited for options when nissan in there wisdom dont tap holes in the gear as to attach a puller. Sometimes things are damaged and have to be replaced. Fortunately in your case the damage was minor and able to be put back together.
  22. hey guys, nice detailed build. curios on what ecu you plan on running.......if you are going to use something running MAP sensors like a D-jetro it might be worth putting the boost/vac signal fittings in the runners now while they are easily accessible. if you are still running AFMs please disregard this post. Cheers Stuart
  23. im not sure how you can direct blame as it looks like balancer has come loose, it happens. its easily repairable. id have no problem putting that back together as it was on a standard engine. there is no way you could cause that damage by removing the balancer, possibly the crank gear. not sure what you want us to do, guess we could just leave the gear on there if its to tight and tell you to call a tow truck and come and get your car. you guys that slag workshops make me sick.......
