Fuel Coolers? Who Knows Stuff About Them
BezerkR32 replied to DJRIFT's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
hey mate, this was touched on before in another thread, might have been Duncans build. Basically it is caused by the circulation of fuel. A smaller surge tank could contribute to higher temps, also higher fuel pressure. It has always been an issue. we used to sit dry ice around fuel tank in drag car. Running a cooler in return line is a goog idea. Also fuels with higher alcahol content like E85 help. -
my workshop was located behind a service station, we had this happen at least once a week, admitedly most people realised there mistake before driving off so it was a simlple fix, just drained tank and replaced filter. First thing you have to work out is if the engine turns, if it doesnt, then forget the rest of the shit to test. i doubt the engine would be damaged but it is possible. Drain tank, replace fuel filter and pray if the engine cranks.

i am very happy so far. I will be extactic after the SAU trackday if everything holds together and the car performs well. so far its just a noisy (mind you good noisy) V8 that makes good power. still might be better suited for drifting, god forbid ive yoused the D word.

Found Cheap R33 Gts-4, Needs Abit Of Work, Worth It?
BezerkR32 replied to bretto1588's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
there are plenty of bashed up 33s around now days, its actually getting harder to find tidy ones. Sort of the same as 32s 5 years ago. $ doors are especially cheap. Unfortunatelly Bezerkly closed in december. We did offer a pre purchase inspection. PM me and i can put you onto some good local mechanics and beaters to look over a car for you. -

Found Cheap R33 Gts-4, Needs Abit Of Work, Worth It?
BezerkR32 replied to bretto1588's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
this is true, but you need to have 5k spare to tidy it up. we bought a 33gtst for $4800. needed some panel repair, shocks, brakes, front screen, exhaust studs & then rego. ended up owing us $8000 with 12 months rego. car is now extremely tidy and goes well. If you are able to do most of the work yourself it will work out worth your while, but when you start talking about full re-spays and your not a panel beater, well get your check book out. -

i want in but my missus is 32 weeks preggy, if she goes before hand can i pull out? -
luck, boy did we need some. a mad scramble to get car ready, and i know well that its the worst way to prepare for an event. Saturday we had the car wheel aligned and made all the tin-work. Monday night we fitted the tin-work, made gear shifter and mounted handbrake lever, also made and fitted rear lexcen window. tuesday organised fuel and some minor stuff and then took it too dyno. All looking good at this point. When atempting to tune found that ECU was locked accidently and can only be unlocked by the persons software who locked it. After a few hours of trying to get around this problem we were left with no option but too leave it, get the ECU unlocked in the morning and then bring the car back up to tune. After getting home at 1 and back up at 630 for the past 3 days i was shot. So up to sydney we drive again and have the car on the dyno by 9. after 8 hours of tuning and software downloads etc etc we got the car to run at about 80%. We called it a day at 6pm. 7 hours late for my track day lol. But more than happy as Yavus from Unigroup after hours of stuffing around with the HP tuner software broke its back and made real progress with the tune. The car was making 302Kw @ 7000rpm at the tyres when we finished. He thinks its got a little bit left in it and some fine tuning to finish. The car sounded strong in the end and was crazy to drive as i got to give it a skid in the car-park. Huge thanks to The boys at Unigroup for a massive effort, as well as my brother and brother in-law who travelled up and down with me. Also Ian for sticking around and helping out on tuesday night. hope to have the tune finished in the next 2 weeks in order for the SAU track day.

no, its the rear screen, never had one in the car, need one to make lexcen mould off, but running out of time.... i cant see having no rear screen as a drama but just waiting for Boz to let me know if its OK. Might have to borrow one from Just Jap.
-
im pushing it for time also, if im allowed to run the car with no rear screen im there.
-
thanks Duncan, ive got Gary coming down tomorro morning, he said he would set it up for me and he is a man of his word. all eyes are on wednesday now, hoping all goes well so i can give andy some chop chop on the 12th.

are you not contradicting yourself? the fact that a four stroke engine is being turned in excess of 20000rpm is unbelievable, how is that not the pinicle of motorsport? the absolute limit of technological engineering? giving teams this freedom doesnt mean they will all take it. Unreliabel cars dont win championships.
-
after lunch at Webbys. Geting w/alignment in the morning as well as finishing parcel shelf and making rear window. Got some air filter mesh off a Honda 4 stroke generator to cover the trumpets so small animals dont get sucked in. then just fidly stuff to do. but have to tune it in the day as its too loud to run at night.
-
cmon Baron, you know you will kick yourself, besides im hoping it will all worth it when i get to drive it. how about i have a holiday and we get stuck into it......you buy plane ticket you can have a steer of mine in the mean-time.

well, what can i say, alls well that ends well. ECU came back from Melbourne, all cleared, unlocked with security removed and a base tune installed. Sourced a air temp sensor plug from wrecking yard and wired it in and TPS wiring was also sorted. Com plug wiring was also repaired so our ECU to laptop interface is working. Checked fan operation and battery isolater/ E stop. Made some basic tune mods to get the car to run alot better. Set base fuel pessure, TPS and base idle. Had to close the butterflys all the way as idle was too high and let the IAC control idle. took alot of fuel out to compensate for the larger injectors and then gave it some revs.........Holy sh$t.......i hope there is no db limit at OP because this thing was loud. Maybe it was because we were in a brick garage but f@@rk. Tuning car on Saturday afternoon so will hopefully get some video and some dyno figures. Very happy man ATM. Thanks to everybody who has helped whether it be physically or with advise and information, and also for the mral support and feedback. Its been 1 year on saturday since i built the engine so to hear it run was incredible.

one week and counting, boy have i got my ass hanging out to get the car ready lol, it will be there in some shape or form.
