  1. I have never driven Wakefield but got the chance to do a hot-lap in a konica Car. Shit myelf. i agree, excellent track.
  2. go ye old pushrod engine lol
  3. i think it was proven on the weekend that Kers provides no advantage in a wet race.
  4. yeh, best of both worlds, i am torn.
  5. finally figured out the sway bar issue after some lenghty phone calls by the Auto 1 boys to Whiteline and red-Ranger and found a VL commodore turbo brace is the one to use. just have to make end plates and reverse the way it runs so across the front of the engine instead of around the back.
  6. old habits die hard, maybe Homo expected the toyotas to move over for him again.
  7. that shots worth framing..........gold.
  8. Exhaust finished, check the side-pipes................. Might want to think twice about a pass under brakes, might cop a flame job lol.
  9. staging the event on F1 weekend probably wasnt the best idea either, but its been mentioned. TV dudes, must advertide on TV. Even the Sport Compact Drag Racing has made the step. if the general public got to see what we see, they would be more than interested and pay the $20 to come watch.
  10. yeh i did see that, i hope its ready but thats only a month away, im waiting for my membership stuff to come back and then ill send off for the cams license. Ill give it a good shake but might be a late enterant.
  11. mmmmmmmmmmm thats shit as you really want to pick up the suspension point if possible.
  12. Yeh its a pretty common thing these days. Its for balance Jas. and yeh they sound shit without them. The guy who designed the mufflers also gave me dimentions for the merged area in the X pipe and the reducer behind the collectors. All these dimensions came from some software programme he had after entering some engine specs, ie bore, stroke, comp, estimated peak rpm, cam specs etc. the 2 1/2" reducer behind the collector eliminates the doughy dead spot you sometimes get down low by speading up the gas flow again as it cools resulting in scavenging the dead gas out of the cylinders leaving area for the new air fuel mixture to enter. Sounds like i know what im talking about hey, but the scavenging thing was explained to me today in a way that i understood. It is also said that the area of the X pipe controlls the torque band. Its all a bit more complicated in a atmo engine thats for sure. But all these things combined are supposed to make for a good efficient system. Pottsy put a tube in as to measure back pressure, appatently anything over 1.5psi at 5000rpm is getting excessive and can result in power loss. He also decided that two 3" outlets on each side will look trick so just waiting for some collectors and it will be done. Fuel rails are well under way also, have managed to find 15mm. Just hope its enough.
  13. Back from F1 and all syched to get this car going. Up at the exhaust shop today, half was already done. I mounted the shielding and the mounting brackets while Pottsy finished the last bend and started on the mounts. Just the tips to go, some paint then all done. There was some cranky Chevs down at Melbourne. Got the blood pumping.
  14. yeh lol. would have loved it, but sounds like a not so amatuerish event anymore, but cant miss F1. Boz's track day is my goal.
  15. I agree, i was sitting in Brabbam and Vettel had an issue out of turn 1 which gave Kubica a good run, i was surprised he wasnt already infront by turn 3.
  16. just got back, what a weekend. Anyone who said F1 was dead is kidding themselves. I witnessed the best qualifying session ever on saturday, and a good race, even though it finished under yellow. The Brawn cars were awesome, and yes they made it look effortless, i wish i had some good video to show you Button taking turn 1&2, barely lifted off. Good drive from Kubica up until the brain explosion, he realed Vetell in over the last 3 laps. Also Alonso had a good drive in a slower car. And Credit to Lewis. Also the toyotas who had a tough weekend.
  17. remove cast iron six and fit alloy v8 lol. no sounds like you have most of the bases covered. could look into rim weights, sometimes can find 1.5kg per rim, depending on what you start with. there is a couple of kilos saving in molly cage.
  18. thats a concern, i might have to take it for a secret shakedown first so it doesnt shit itself infront of every-one. Hopefully any engine issues will make them self known on the dyno at Unigroup. Stuff like oil surge etc ill have to wait and see. Ill have to get a basic suspension setup into it as well. Probably have to give Gary a call. Does anyone know if i have to have the windows done or is the net O.K?
  19. hmmmmm Loty, sounds like the larve of some insect. oh well, thats my two bob worth. not going to enter this debate about cars with converted engines, even if they are wrecker ones.
  20. a little progress over the last week, the car is actually off getting the exhaust fitted, ill get it back next week. After having a play with it it was to tight to go out the same side with both pipes so have to split them. He is going to squash the tips so they are a big oval shape to maintain good ground clearance. Should look trick. the fuel rail modifications are almost finished, just have to get the AN weld-ons fitted. have all the rest of the plumbing ready to go. sourced a tps switch which ended up being a Chev one, still having trouble sitting down after paying for it. once that is done and a small amount of match -porting then the manifold can go on for good. have been playing with strut tower braces as the normal style will no longer fit. Have to go around the front or back of the engine, similar to a subaru or commodore one. Guys from Whiteline are looking to see what will go close, then ill have to make end-plates to suit. Good that something is getting done while im in melbourne this weekend, want to make sure its ready for OP in may. Ill post pics when she comes back.
  21. well done brus, driving it like a kart and just sticking it up in there, brilliant.
  22. we'll see. whats the go with short wheel base?
  23. have some mates who work for supercheap team so can get into v8 paddock but f1 is off limits.
  24. honestly think that a go-kart is more suited to your budget. but you may find your way into a non-complianced 32 leaving you enough cash for some very basic mods. but a brake upgrade to atleast 4 pot front & 2 pot rear, sway bars and tyres are necessary.
