  1. plan on doing the front bar, but only allowed to sheet to the rear edge of the front bar from what i understand.
  2. excellent mate, well done, seeme that you are not kidding yourself by thinking it wont cost you more money. dont be too worried about the timing belt issue, it happens, and as long as it was repaired correctly it will be fine, but keep in mind the age and milage of these engines. might be worth a sr20 later on down the track.
  3. yeh, this is the way im going to proceed. im shore all you boys will help me with set-up. if it gets too hard well put the wing on. Definately have other things to spend the cash on. Dane, where did you get the wing and if you dont mind saying how much?
  4. thanks guys, great advice given.
  5. thats the single mans dream who still lives at home. lol. Married men arent allowed to have two cars weevil, you know that silly.
  6. speaking of wings Neil, i remember that afternoon i came up to watch you race at OP and there was an old Toyota crown racing. It had a home made wing consisting of two pieces of form ply as the uprights and something else across the midle, the thing was quick, just looked funny. K-mart lol. but seemed to work.
  7. found this on just-japs web page. its twin aero-foil and looks to be adjustable on both planes, its cheap which makes me think it might be more for pretty. Ill have to have a look at it 2morro. Its also weird as its called a Drift-wing. I thought you would be looking to loose rear down force when drifting ie no wing, or i have no idea lol.
  8. Hi Guys, looking to buy a rear wing for my circuit car as i have read on other threads that they are a must. Having troube sorting the autosalon stuff from the fuctional wings that will actually work. Any help from those that run a wing on there car would be much apreciated.
  9. to be honest Roy its hard to know which ones are for pretty and which ones actually are functional. The Voltex units look the go but not sure on price, i think expensive. These APR wings are about $600. But dont know anything about them.
  10. Unfortunately ive had to pull out of a driving position, but am interested in team chef/mechanic position. guys like BBQ?
  11. unfortunately his budget will get him into a go-kart, gear and a trailer. thats the truth, not being a smart arse. people were just giving him advice on there past experience, and trying to save him money as he already has a limited budget. and karting is grass roots.
  12. after another read of the cams rule book i have learned that i will require a transmission scatter shield or blanket, a rain light and some kind of crumle zone packing made of either alluminium or nomex to run between the rear of the car & the fuel tank. The trans blanket is not an issue as RCI make SFI 14.1 universal blankets. the rain light is also no drama, but this nomex packing has got me stumped, but have been given some leads on it by Duncan. Also researching rear wings.
  13. what on there makes you think you cant run it in that class?
  14. actually i reckon the red vn commodore including trailer is the best buy. its only a six but its very tidy and has alot of potential.
  15. i love some of the adds on there, Ready to race, has Nissan steering wheel & pod filter lol. In all seriousness there are some great buys on there.
  16. cams specify a metal sheet cover the opening on a sports sedan, but not sure if this is the same for your car or the speed events....
  17. faaaaark, thread has bean hored badly, now people are hocking there cars lol, and this blokes got everybody else looking for a car for him, smart cookie.
  18. hey, that is a bit weird, i remember getting lost with mine also, guess its a 6 speed thing. i remember i just used to skip gears on downshift, get confused and leave it in neutral. lol.
  19. im not sure yet as to the DB of the car, but the guy who did the mufflers also has these inserts for the exhaust tip that will take another 4db out if necessary. Under 90db is less than we can run on the street i think.
  20. maybe an idea to look for a car that is for sale and already built. I dont know that you can build a street registered circuit car, with all the safety gear that you should have as well as rego for under 10k, but im sure some guys will get on here and tell you different, but realistically a cage, seat, harness, and good helmet will cost you between 3 & 4K. My kart cost me around 6k once i bought gear and spares.
  21. seee, youl all be converted to the dark side soon enough.
  22. the thing sounds like at has the same if not worse diff gearing as my old commodore, lucky to see 4th gear. definately a handfull once it revving.
  23. Hey weevil, want to invest some cash in a R32 lol.
  24. ha, ha, they werent as much as you might think, payed $320each. Also bought all the flange plates, mandrel bends, hanger brackets and some straight pipe. whole system will owe me about $1700 including the extractors and HPC coating.
