  1. i agree, if the builder has told you to run a 10w60, thats what you use.
  2. run 100hp gas on the standard set-up on 1 bar. will cost you about $1500 to set it up properly + a fuel pump, computer and good single plate clutch. thats it. a taxi can run a 11sec pass these days. the combo you are talking about will cost you 20k. and will be good for 10s.
  3. thats supposed to go in your gearbox. lol all forged engines are different. it depends on your clearances. in the old days piston to bore clearance was 6thou. now a good quality forged piston like a CP for example can be clearanced as close as 2thou. big end and main clearances are similar, some set them a little larger for high revving engines which is the reason a lot of skylines pick them up as they are to tight. the brand does not matter, as long as it is a quality oil. its the grade thats important. and the viscosity should be a 5w40, 10w40, 5w50, on a recently built engine. or similar. running an engine in is also important as some builders and camshaft manufacturers reccommend that it is done with a mineral oil only. i run Repsol engine oils in all my engines, and plan on running 5w40 Comp in my Ls1 even though the piston to bore is a little excessive. if it uses oil it means its getting everywhere it is needed.
  4. thats brilliant, i forgot about those days when i hated the skylines, how things change. the ford had some poke down the straight though, and talk about giving the BMW a rev. and the VN boat, far out.
  5. that looks like it was meant to be.....notice the fogger and solenoids. i like the way this boy thinks. yeh baron, hoping it will all be worth it. will no soon enough.
  6. thats because the gates are shut at idle. fitting screamers is only going to get you a visit to the EPA. besides you cant hear anything when the car is on boost. detonation etc.
  7. bar thickness divided by the number of adjustment holes equals the maximum amount of roll-overs posible with the bar fitted.
  8. wasnt having a dig, actually agreeing with what you said.
  9. i have no doubt there is more power to be made on E85, cooler intake temps coupled with higher octane levels allowing more agressive tuning, its the consumption that is the concern as i only have a 50liter tank. but if its OK for V8SC, im sure ill be fine.
  10. depending on what power you are looking to make, you may need to upgrade the fuel line also.
  11. yeh, too many arm-chair racers on here.lol. get on a track, even if its in a kart and you will see how quick your point of view on racing incidents changes. also putting yourself in a position where you can get into trouble. and on the other hand being overzealous and punting someone. shit happens.
  12. yeh, eye on the prize. keep putting myself behind the 8 ball though, finish one thing then find something else to buy. looking seriously at that intake again, tuner reckons there is free horespower to be had with being able to adjust runner lengths so it looks like it will be happening next. Also going to give the E85 a go as all the race meetings are sprints so consumption wont be an issue. Doing endurance events might mean 2 extra fuel stops.
  13. Not too much to report, recieved coil-overs from Gary last week. just waiting for the lower arms and bars and bush kits now which should have by friday so with a bit of luck i might have the car back on the ground on saturday arvo. Also close to purchasing front brake kit, so car will be pretty much a roller again. That will just leave engine completion, which i have all the parts for, wiring & exhaust. some fiddly bits to do also like tin-work and ducting. catch-cans etc..........neverending.
  14. i agree, there should be no penaltys. we should just let them hit each-other. i honestly dont think lewis would have had a problem with what massa did as it is usually him hitting and baulking everyone else. thats racing. play-on.
  15. i agree, when a car is in the middle of the circuit, and lets not forget that this was a practice session, the red flags should be out. My mate is a police officer working the mountain this weekend. he rang me and said the accident happened infront of him. he and his partner jumped on the track to check on the driver, who was startled but gave them the thumbs up. he said that the other driver made every attempt to miss him, said he could see his eyes as he came over the crest to see the car sitting in the middle of the track. he reckons he hit him at about 150+ in the door.....ouch. Murph for the win.
  16. im in the process of setting up the old kart frame in the lounge room infront of the projector, use it for playstation but this weekend is serious, ill even have the helmet on. no spanners this weekend. im driving lol.
  17. you realise the oil has to pass through two seals and run along the shaft to pass from the compressor cover to the turbine housing. sounds like wishfull thinking too me.
  18. from what i understand they are available to suit RB26, so you would think they were to suit standard block thread, the newer series of studs have a allan head socket in the top. When i install them i wind them all the way in, then a half turn back out.
  19. the reason you can run that much ignition is because of the alcohol content. its almost like running the car on methanol. 105 octane. this would be great for a drag car, but not so much a street car as you will think there is a hole in your fuel tank. methanol requires 2.5x the volume. ive been told by a couple of local tuners that this stuff is not much better. but well done for having a go. would be good to keep those maps stored for when you race it. fill it up then swap the map over.
  20. your not re-using head bolts are you guys, thought you would have splashed out on a stud kit. this could be an early warning sign. im all for cost conservation, but in the right places.
  21. your a prime advocate for a NIKE commercial, Just do it. lol
  22. i think the rain has mixed it up very interestingly this season. great results from lesser teams. i think it evens the playing field and gives the lesser teams a chance to show there prowess when they are not trying to play catch up.
  23. yeh it is at least 30kg as that was the max the scale would read, and it was short steer pump and exhaust manifold. weighed r33 tubo box today and it went 57.5kg. i was very surprised as i thought it would be lighteras thats only 5kg lighter than the tremec 6 speed. so i think i am up somewhere between 35-55 kilos in the driveline which i am very happy with. basically this means that the car should be easier to make handle and my power to weight is up. 1000kg and 400hp is looking good.
  24. yeh i guess getting someone else to do it is an option lol.
  25. the dyno sheet would show if it was actually leaning out, otherwise you are guessing. if it does show this then the things to check have already been mentioned, otherwise get someone to look at it before you break it.
