  1. its alot more difficult to diagnose a engine noise in a full alloy block as the knock resinates through it. best way to do it is to take load of cylinder by unplugging coil pack plug or injector harness one at a time. if noise lessens on a particular cylinder when you do this you can be pretty sure it is down stairs. SRs are renound for this, usually because the sump has been pushed up and seals the oil pick-up. Look under the car and see if the sump is dinted. I did a big end set in a GTIR last week, cost the guy $800. this included genuine bearings, synthetic oil & filter. Done it in the car. No probs. Only thing to check is that the crank isnt damaged. otherwise its engine out and full build.

  13. sorry, not for GTR. There is enough sumps on the market for them already. sumps are hard to find for 20s & 25s and hi-energy want $950+gst for one. The basic one cost $400+gst and has no baffles in it.
  14. $680 Fitted including 5 liters Repsol 10w40 synthetic engine oil & genuine filter.
  15. As stated we are fabricating custom oil pans to suit RB series engines. The pans can be baffled to suit your application. The pans are extended 5mm lower but do not sit proud of the engine crossmember. They have wings extended on either side which hold an additional 1.5litres of engine oil. The pans also retain the factory windage tray. Standard sway bars etc still clear. Pictured is a circuit style pan with pick up baffle to control oil surge under braking and also gates to control oil surge during cornering. The gates allow oil flow towards the pick-up but not away from it. The pans also can have a cylinder head oil return fitting fitted if required. These pans are ideal for the modified street car or social track day enthusiast. Pans are supplied on an exchange basis and take about 7-10 days to fabricate. Cost is $500. Any enquiries please PM. Thanks Stuart.
  16. r u serious? id love to know where you can pre-painted fibreglass panels... pics added.

  18. weighed standard rotors today, 2kg lighter than the new ones. so looks like all is going to pretty much even out. Recieved coil-overs from SK today. Ill post pics 2moro.
  19. well done guys, numbers falling consistently now and the more data collected means its ony going to go quicker. once you get the chassis sorted and keep those front wheels on the track it will only go faster again. Bring on the 7.0s
  20. hire karts will cost you $40 for 15mins or $70 for half hour. $35 for day with your own kart if you are a memeber of the track. Second hand rotax will cost you between 3 & 4k, then suit , boots, gloves rib protector, helmet, tools, jerry kans, trailer, spares etc. 8k. i have raced for two seasons. tyres are $250 a set and to be competative you have to replace them after every 2 meetings. $35 for 10litres of fuel plus $25 for oil, which will do 40litres, chain lube etc etc. it gets expensive, unless you are just going out socially on practice days as thats cool, otherwise there is always some over-ambitious idiot trying to make a idiotic pass that ends up costing you $100s to repair. but it is awesome fun......
  21. yeh rotors are definately heavier, 8.6kg each. rears incorporate handbrake drum into the hat so no probs there. Callipers wouldnt be much different. also save 5kg a corner with the coilovers, so most of should even out. cant wair to weigh the whole thing finished so i actually know where i stand with it.
  22. weighed rear gtst against gtr alloy stub axles today and there was 3kg difference each side. but probably give that back in drive shaft weight. also 12kg difference in gtr to gtst bonnets. i thought that was huge. didnt get a chance to weigh other stuff but will post when i do.
  23. i wonce did some extrude honing on a half chinese/half australian flange, excellent.
  24. i ordered it a month before the car got painted, but unfortunately there was a delay and i didnt recieve it till after the car was already done, so have brand new lid. i might wait and see how the car goes for weight and paint it later if necessary. im using standard one atm.
