8.36.1 Compression What Boost To Run?
BezerkR32 replied to 17psi r33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
i thought i just explained the valve spring issue....... your asking the standard spring to pull the valve shut with 3 times the boost pressure acting against it. It was not designed to do this. You might also want to research what cams will fit without major head modification. remember it is still a hydraulic engine. i honestly think you are chasing a unicorn mate, your graph shows excellent power/torque in the mid range and tapers off towards top of rev range. this is typical of a turbo falling out of its efiiciency range. big turbo cars dont make the mid range power you are making, and at the end of the day it is more usable power anyway. who cares about the peak figure. give it a run and i think you will be happy. -
8.36.1 Compression What Boost To Run?
BezerkR32 replied to 17psi r33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
dont ususally post in this section as there are already so many experts, but noticed there is no mention of valve spring upgrade in your build, this could be why your tuner is limiting boost around 20psi as rb25 standard valve springs are about maxed out at high rpm and that boost. standard rb25 with gt35/40 will make 300kw atw on 20 psi. so you might be looking for a bigger compressor to flow more at that pressure to make up the difference. disregard the valve spring comment if you have upgraded them. -
Ls2 Awd Conversion
BezerkR32 replied to gt4dirtcircut's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
you can bolt the t56 6speed up. im sure you could adapt the transfer. or the bellhousing adapter to skyline is a good idea, dont know what the holden front diff is like though. -
yes i can see the small similarity, although this is a preventative measure rather than a repair.

initial start-up is crucial to new engine Andrew...... get it running decent and put some load through it. all this idling bullshit when running fat will hurt it.

im out guys....getting knee reconstruction. cant push clutch. -
nah, they held him out there for that long so he wouldnt cath vetel.

Homo on the option tyre while both RBR drivers on the prime tyre, wonder if this will be a factor.......unless it rains which will throw it all in the air.

if by any chance you are running a late model tdi engine with common rail injection in a navara or triton etc it is strongly not recommended to run bio in them, and any problems resulting from running it will not be warranted.

Steel Turbo Water Lines?
BezerkR32 replied to MrSquigle's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
thats the issue with steel lines. They fatigue and crack where the fitting has been braised on. also big hours on bending them up and you still need to buy fittings. it may be a couple of hundred dollars cheaper but not the best way to go. and yes i have done it both ways plenty of times, and i can tell you i have replaced many more steel lines that have failed compared to braided lines. -
Blue Slip A Modified R33 In Nsw
BezerkR32 replied to mercyseat's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
blue slip is only $50 odd dolars. you will require all the import paperwork for the car and an engineers certificate for all the after-market mods. -

thats not too bad, ive got to pull engine, remove and repair sump, replace big end and main bearings, replace diff assy and front tyres. -
i watched the telecast on One last night and they showed the incar footage a few times and it looked bad to say the least, but tonight on the news they showed footage from the front, with the cars coming towards you and it looked even worse. i think vets realised that he was on the wrong side of the track and was going to outbrake himself and panicked. Ive lost all respect for him and depending on how RBR conduct themselves in the coming weeks they can go and get f#cked also. Especially if thet were responcible for putting the drivers that close together by telling Mark to turn the wick down and vettel to push.
-
probably not a bad result in the end with Mark scoring, Hamilton getting full points instead of Button and Vetel DNF. but not so good for constructers. Macs looking very quick, awesome race with cars being so close and passing for a change. Surprised Button got the call to ease off seeing that he is further ahead of Homo.
-
yeh wasnt happy, had a good look at that corner of the car when he got out.
-
nah, im over it, going to leave it for a week or two. going to pull engine and pull crank out to have a good look, the oil surge was causing more issues than first thought. Having the oil warning light set to 30psi definately saved it from major damage but it will need a bearing set. Its not a big issue but i have plenty going on at home and just dont have time atm. only need a day to pull it, repair it and refit it, the cash is the issue atm. If all goes well i still might make the track day. just need motivation and to rob a bank lol.
-
dont kid yourself, it is expensive to participate let alone be competative. i hope to have the car sorted for this next year, just dont know whether ill need to run the big engine. hopefully i wont embaress myself.
-
hahha, you know, they look like a horse..... got the sump finished this arvo and back in the car tonight. re-plumbed the remote filter, cooler and oil pressure switches. everything is sweet, fits neatly with no clearance issues. Engine now holds around 8.5 litres on a dry fill which is a great improvement over the 6 litre capacity from factory. unfortunately on start up we found a pin hole on one of the welds around the high pressure outlet so the pan needs to come off again. I wont be doing it in the car again so going to pull the engine and put a bearing set through it while im at it. happy that it all fits and everything is plumbed, but also dissapointed with the leak. probably puts me out for sau track day.
