  1. This is from a few years back, Lowndes in a commodore.
  2. i remember seeing that on the news, it was big.
  3. ha ha, i only know of one workshop that could pull that off lol...
  4. yeh, want to buy it 4 me?
  5. thats not bad... start 8th, 10th by first corner, make a few places back and finish 8th..
  6. mate i cant explain what i would give to be able to wash my helmet...next one i buy will definately have this feature.
  7. where did webber qualify?
  8. yeh, its getting there. i hope that with the aid of the suspension upgrade that it will handle well. ive been told that we are about 60kg lighter in the front with the engine alone, plus the advantages of the alluminium bonnet, glass bar and removal of alot of other stuff. im hoping the car sits around the 1000kg mark. the fibreglass bootlid turned up on friday also. 2 months late, but better late than never. the panel beater should be around this week to fit the bonnet & side-skirts, and give the car a buff. the cylinder heads have been started, so hope to have them in a week or so, and can then finally finish the engine. looking in to a new intake manifold. but i think i will get it running with the standard one first. project has snow-balled now as i think im going to keep the car. have purchased some R34 GTR Brembos and R32 GTR rear brakes from Pauly D. So have to win lotto soon. other than that its just some guages, wire the computer in and do the lexcen windows and some tin work. have to also still do the suspension, pretty sure what im getting, just have to clarify some spring rates and bar diameters, and win lotto again lol. here is the 8 butterfly Harrop manifold i want. they also do a short shifter too. p
  9. your lucky paul answered your question and not all the other qualified mechanics on here lol, cause they reckon coil packs fix everything.
  10. Id say he has a tune issue, or if he is using a fuel cut as a rev limit then it is self explanitory, should always cut ignition, not fuel.
  11. Here you go, Eug. Rims and tyres fitted as well as half the engine and radiator plumbed up.
  12. Yeh, looks like im in trouble too. My heads have been started though, maybe if i refuse to work on his for a week lol.
  13. turbocharged cars are a little different, AWD are boring. Watching a 700hp RWD car get twitchy every time the tacho sees 5000rpm is awesome. But watching That Mazda come apart through the chase was good. When your at the track the sound and atmosphere is great, something smaller cars can never achieve. but in saying that i find the aussie cars fantastic to watch, but i think again that it is a power to weight thing.
  14. the fan is only half the battle as the shroud is the most important factor.
  15. Have used that combo and it works very well, but for a bit more cash the Spaal fans from PWR are excellent. but more expensive.
  16. well you no what they say, when you land at gold Coast airport put your watch back 1 hour & 10 years. P.S DRD-OOF, i love the nurse.
  17. i dont know if you guys remember the 2 litre series that was run years ago, it was the biggest flop. I watched a round at Oran Park and it was boring. I watched the V8s at Melbourne at the beginning of the year and the racing was great and they sound tough. they are irraplacable. Maybe some sort of sallary cap is required. I know they limit testing at the moment but more is needed. It is fun for us to watch or drive in lesser classes because we have some kind of involvement but to pay money to go and watch your four cylinders run around, im not sure. Maybe bring back the good old days when 3 classes ran in the same endurance races, 4s, 6s & 8s at bathurst for e.g. The BMW drivers spent most of there time looking in the mirrors to see what was about to devour them, that was racing. And yes the Skylines dominated and owned all......
  18. Paul,as you didnt build it i know its a hard question to answer but could it be something stupid like the restricters werent fitted and its pumping the valve covers up? its the only thing i can think of other than an internal problem causing massive crankcase pressure which can only be a ring issue. incorrect ring gap or broken ring....but at the end of the day, shouldnt this highly experienced engine builder be looking at rectifying the issue?
  19. did you take your medication today Jas?
  20. Yes, very nice. You will definately need those with the heavy GTR.... What are you doing with the old ones? Might be suited to very light GTST....
  21. i think we need to talk, the fact that you are doing brake upgrades is scaring me when you would usually be looking for a chute lever.....are you a bit confused pauly? let me know about those Brembos. After seeing some of these vids, ive got a feeling the standard brakes with pad upgrade will not cut it....keen to get the chevy out amongst it.
  22. put me in for twenty, seeing that the car will be in my shop next week..cough cough... i feel a bit sick..might only feel like working on my car...
  23. Thats awesome, deffinately kept busy. im going to do a few laps in my kart before taking that on in the skyline. Tell me thats not a hundred times more fun than drag racing.
  24. From what i understood on the superlap website, correct me if im wrong but diddnt you have to have factory engine fitted to run in the sprint class and anything goes in the open class? im only curious as i figured i would have to run my car in the opens. but this is new to me so i could have miss-understood. quote As a different topic for debate - I'm REALLY suprised no one has had a whinge about making rules requiring cars to run at least OEM manufacturer engines (i.e. Nissans must run a Nissan Engine - etc). What is to stop some of the crazy light weight kit cars coming in and just making a mockery of this event? (I personally don't care but I could see some of the supporting workshops getting upset if this isn't watched surely?)
  25. If the rolling diameter is the same its obviously o.k, other wise it is not advised. you seriously would not consider doing it if someone on here told you it would be o.k, they accept no liability for the damage they might occur and you are left with a repair bill. also defeats the purpose of having an AWD car. just run it in RWD only. it is sixting slower than a RWD anyway, otherwise run MTs all round, you will be stoked with the difference.
