thanks buddy, if only i could get my phone to talk to my computer. the first pic shows one of the 4 conrods having the big end face milled. took 6thou off, 40thou=1mm. second pic shows underside of sump baffle with fabricated baffle attached. this sits infront of oil pickup. third pic shows baffle in place. hole is where pickup sits through. fourth pic shows underside of engine with windage tray fitted. also fitted water pump, alternator today as to set up the drive-belt which had to be modified as there is no power steer pump. just swapped an idler pulley and added a second one and a shorter belt. stinging for cylinder heads now.

borrowing workshop cars, your a bad man.......

yeh mate, it is possibly the case that the r32 is tighter, but in my case i like the manual steer feel alot better and removing the rack, pump & lines save me some weight.

Gtr32 - 15" Drag Rims And Slicks?
BezerkR32 replied to exXU1's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
do you have to run a full slick? can run a MT street radial on a 16" rim -
yeh, those mount definately will not work, they are different heights. look like R32 GTR mounts. yours are the same as z32 300zx, same family, whales and boats. ha ha. We will get some new standard ones ordered 2moro, and get this external oil pump bracket sorted, then you can continue to bolt all your toys on.

enough with the pushrods, i know its a bit of a dinosour but it will rev, dont worry about that. as for the cambelt, i reckon you could probably get a Jessel set up, i know they do one for earlier chevs and fords. when its making 800hp ill get one for u jase. Removed 4 piston & rod assys and took them to machine shop where we milled 6thou of the big end face to get the required clearance. took longer to remove them and re-fit them than it did to machine them. Anyway all done and back together. Fabricated a baffle for the sump, very basic, just folded a piece of sheet metal up, cut some reliefs and welded it to the standard internal sump baffle. this was done to limit oil surge in sump which Ls1 engines were renound for. Re-fit rear oil seal plate and seal, and sump. also fit balancer and water pump today as well as a few sensors and engine mount brackets. Just the heads and manifolds and it will be ready to fit. Front screen and rear quarter windows were also fitted today.

Finally started work on the engine again on saturday. Cleaned block & crank, re-checked main bearing clearances which were perfect. Installed Cam bearings. Fitted crankshaft & camshaft. Returned on monday hoping to have the same success with the oil pump, how nieve of me. It seems that the double row timing chain and hi-pressure oil pump combination was going to be a problem. i made 3mm spacer + 1mm gasket to space oil pump forward to clear the now wider chain. this was perfect with the standard pump but the Melings pump body is wider, so i had to relieve it in a few spots with the die grinder to get sufficient clearance. Now that that was O.K. i thought i would try the timing cover, and you guessed it, it wouldnt fit with the pump spaced forward. I replaced the oil pump cover bolts with cap head bolts to gain an extra 3mm clearance, relived the pump and cover in a few places and finally after about 2 hours got it to fit. back in the evening to fit pistons. Rings were gapped earlier so were ready to go. Quick big end clearance check, then banged them in. all was looking good until it was found that the side clearance between the rods was tight as in V8s 2 rods share the same journal. so pulled 4 pistons back out to have the big end face machined. Will have another go tomorro. A bit frustrating when all of the bottom end is standard. just goes to show they slap em together in the factory.

unfortunately no, unless you use a bellhousing that will accept starter on the other side, would also have to modify block as starter mounts on it. i have heard that you can get a kit, but am not 100% sure. might be able to find answers on ls1.com

Have been fitting the car up for the last week, its amazing how you forget were stuff went or how it fit after 2 years, but slowly slowly. all door rubbers are back on, mirrors, fuel cell, pedal box, brake booster which i had out of a R33. had master cylinders serviced. Hope to finish engine assembily on saturday, well bottom end anyway. Bonnet is painted, have to fit pins with the panel beater. still waiting for boot lid. wheel centres are painted, waiting for outers to be polished. Post pics soon.

Banning Performance Cars From P Platers = More Deaths
BezerkR32 replied to scathing's topic in General Automotive Discussion
i agree, as much as i hate to admit it i was one of those P plater idiots, raping my mums camira. it had absolutely no power, but still was able to do in excess of the speed limit in a built up area. Unfortunately i think its something we just have to grow out of. i dont know if there is any quick fix or that the car alone has anything to do with it, i honestly feel that stupidity is the problem here. once we get older and have kids these idiots speeding in your streets really piss you off. and you can understand why people got the shits when you used to do it. i do agree that stupidity and a hi-powered car is a lethal combination, so i guess the idea of eliminating one of the denominators is not a bad idea. The only advise i can give is learn by your mistakes, if you have a close call, take it as a warning. we have all made them at one time or another. some of us were lucky enough to not have killed ourselves or any one else in the process. This forum is the best place for young drivers to get the opportunity to participate in off the street activities. A place where man and machine can be pushed to the limit without someones kids running out in front of you. search the events threads, go out with some friends, have a blast on the track and then drive home like a responcible adult. All is good. My 2 bobs worth. Happy driving. -

"We'd like to invite the regulator Test & Tune Sport Compact racers to come along and do a few laps at the Mackenzie's Motor Trimming Compak Attak and at the same time see what a Competition meet is all about. We get the Grudge Class out for as many laps as we can with the Competition Class" said Box. So if you are 1st timer or a regulator Test & Tune racer why not get along on May 18th and support the Toyo Tires Sport Compact Drag Racing Series. Well awesome but busy weekend. went out for first qualifier on friday afternoon and went 5.72. this qualified us third. unfortunately we dropped an intake valve so that was our night done. pulled engine down, replaced bore liner, full set of pistons, rings and bearings. welded and repaired cylinder head, cleaned bits of engine out of everything else includind oil pump, dry sump, and blower. had car running by 11am sat morning. had first elimination at 5pm. ran 5.65 @ 248mph for the win. then seviced car for next round. Up against wayne Newby in semi final, red light by .02. overall good result considering the start of the meeting.

Nitro champs this weekend @ WSID. Starts Friday with group 1 first qualifiers @ 5.00pm. All catagories will be well supported. I know for a fact that Top Alcahol has a group of 11 cars. Will be crewing for Aaron Hambridge so come say hello. hoping for solid 5.60 or even high 50 to qualify.

Dont be mistaken in thinking that increased clamp means increased pedal effort... Jim berry is the clutch guru. I could not recommend him highly enough. He has gotten me out of trouble on several occasions with conversions etc. an example of a clutch he did for me was a heavy duty organic behind a 1J. Clutch was originally done bt Dellows through some clutch mob in Penrith. Required that much pedal effort that it bent the pedal box. I sent entire clutch & flywheel assy to jim, came back with 40% less pedal effort required and had 20% more clamp. Have also run Jims Full monty single on many a 300kw GTSt and the odd 350kw GTR with excellent results. have a 3900lb solid ceramic going behind my LS1. this guy dose clutches for targa cars and consults for many clutch manufacturers. You have made the right choice.

maybe if there was a dyno comp, then people would go. Lots of people on here like to get there dyno sheets out, maybe they are scared of the real horsepower calculator ie MPH
