  1. Ha Ha, very funny, in all seriousness, my daughter calls it bumblebee. she's 3 years old and a transformers freak.

  4. Yeah, thank god there is only 5 journals. Had to do it twice though, believe it or not but the crank tunnel was oval by half a thou. it was within spec but thought better to have it machined as this thing is going to see a bit more rpm than in standard form. Also had the oil galleries on the crank tear dropped. Just have to find some time to go and finish it. Speaking of finish, the paint job is almost done. Boys painted the black top yesterday, they were blocking it back and re-painting it last night so cant wait to see it. ill post pics soon. Adrian has a few know, ill see if he will put them up. Had a pin stripe guy put some samples on the side of it, told him and the painter to sort it out as i couldn't choose. Also been talking to Ryan from ISC Coilovers about suspension components. He has been really helpful. I will be getting everything off him when i get to it, and can afford it Ha Ha.
  5. the manual is nohing like an auto, and if you are looking to up the turbine wheel and or housing, you will definately need it. if your converter is loose you might get away with it but mph will suffer badly.
  6. When i first saw this post i thought you guys were looking for back-streets to learn on, but after reading the thread i think its great that you are looking to learn the correct way in a controlled environment under instruction. Well done guys, hope more young blokes follow your example.
  7. probably worth a mention that with the rather large turbo you are running and depending on how tight the converter is you will probably have to give the big girl a sniff to persuade it to come up on the brake. A small dry shot will do it, something like 50hp. Unless you want to be on the start line staaling it up while the other car crosses the finish line like most VLs you see
  8. far out shane, this thing is seeing some serious mph now, congratulations mate. going well. that big turbo really brings it home. that mph is good for high 8 sec pass. keep it up.
  9. Was lucky enough to come across a gtr alluminium bonnet for a good price from SSS. Happy as i know it will fit perfect, and know it is a shit load lighter than the GTST unit. So know its just the boot lid which JS Auto Imports is supplying and said to be ready this week. This will be the first time this car has had all the panels fitted sinse i have owned it. Pretty excited know as things are taking shape.
  10. Funny he should say that Adrian they are different. Will have to measure the heights etc. doesnt matter how quick they got here if they are wrong.... Post my pics please.
  11. Agree with alot of what you have said, but it is ill advised to tell people not to worry about a cage, as previously stated, safety first. and a molly cage only weighs about 80kg.
  12. i seem to remember that, resulted in nice burnout though.
  13. sorry to butt in guys but how does someone get involved in these events, and what licences are required? thanks
  14. As you can see Adrian has beaten me to the punch but thats his job as a mag editor. car has had its first cote of paint, should be finished this week. painter is choosing a black for the turret, bonnet and boot. the yellow is vivid yellow off a hyundai of all things. Thinking of coca cola for the top. still have to get bonnet and boot made. At the end of the day its all money. Picked up some Rays Engineering 17" wheels. Have split them as to have the centres painted and the dish polished. Alot of bolts in those buggers. After dummying up the bottom end a few weeks ago only to find the main bearings clearances were tight, so sent the block away to have main bearing tunnel honed and crank re-ground. On re-measuring we have found that all is perfect and ready for assembily. start pushing for my heads now. so all happening. Like to thank Nick from NM Autobody for the quick and thorough paint job.
  15. mmmmmmm, cast iron block, looks heavy. mmmmmmmm
  16. thats just the thing, with the correct tyre and pressure, you should be able to just dump it. thats how you get 1.7 & 1.6 sixty foot times. this is also y u break rear drive shafts. you should not be able to turn the tyres. when u start breaking driveline components, u know u are getting traction.
  17. the boy is correct, keep a good eye on that clutch, you are running it at its upper power limit. Have had them fitted to many a customer car making mid 200kw, ask much more of them and they turn. Jim berry Race Clutch........
  18. I agree, have had customer cars run high 11s with 1.7 sixty at 120mph with 280rwkw
  19. i am finding it amusing that you get on here asking for help, abuse people when they give you good advise, then turn around asking more questions. seeing that you all ready know everything. Funny. :laughing-smiley-014: Suggest the pulling in of your head is necessary as these people have the time slips to prove it, dyno sheets mean fcuck all mate. Your about 6mph short for a 12 and your clutch will slip in the higher gears if it was shot.
  20. Thats the idea Jas, once this things finished its gone.
  21. Required removal of power steer rack and installation of manual steer rack on my car.
  22. Rings and bearings, clutch, flywheel and balancer have all arrived. Have taken them all to the machine shop to balance the rotating assy. Once done i can build the bottom end and give Machine shop the deck hight as to machine the heads. Seat is mounted. just on the CAMS website to research the fitment of second side intrusion bar. Once the bar is in we can complete the window net mounting. Also going to recess the floor for the exhaust to run in. All these little bits and pieces are more time consuming than first thought, but getting there. Also have to indent D/S chassis rail for extractor clearance. Have made solid aluminium engine mounts to eliminate engine movement as the drivers side is tight. Trying to organise a painter, have a friend coming to look at it on Friday, so might give the engine bay a lick first, then fit everything so it can go to the electrician. Pretty excited know as i haven't built an engine for myself in over 12 years, its always been for someone else or a customer. just cant wait to hear it. Post some pics soon.
  23. ha ha, true true, but you wont break anything on the foot brake, but trans brake is a different story.
  24. The weight of the car is the biggest issue, the power the car makes is capable of a mid 11 but the driveline will strugle to hold together. you will need to go 1.6 sec in the sixty to go mid 11s but the gtst driveshafts cant handle that. 2rismo was constantly breaking shafts arount the 11.60s with a manual. Daniel Beer went a best of 11.70 and broke shafts the next pass and again the next meeting. GTR rear end and the skys the limit.
  25. The race is on, i think im going to beat you.....
