this is so true, a competitive kart with safety gear, parts and putting new tyres on it every third meeting as well as trailer will cost 10K+, they are great fun and a quarter of the price of my 32 but they wont rip skids into 4th....lol.

mate, i honestly find that my car spends alot more time in the garage than on the track, and being unregistered means i cant participate in cruises or texi days etc which is a shame. The guys that have mildly modified street cars seem to have alot more fun. Take Liz for example, she has been at every event i have ever been at, and probably another dozen ontop. Its a mild 180 with the right mods for track work and she always has a ball, and the car always behaves. I dont think i will get the full benefit out of my car until i start racing it in a series where i get it out at least every one to two months. And thats where the expense will come in, tyres, fuel, event entry etc. everyones situation is different, but for me personally i wish i had something a bit milder that was registered so i could enjoy it more.

$800 will get you a full clutch kit replacement. 4 hrs labour is about the usual + bearing $40 if the clutch is ok. so say about half.

so how many passes did you get or did they say pack it up?

its all testing. that package will go a second quicker in a lighter car. anyone have a lighter car? i dont get why you guys turn cars that were designed for circuit racing into drag cars either lol

yeh, pull the turbo off, buy 6 cans of re-compression from auto 1 and shell be sweet lol. there is no cheap way to do this is the answer to your question. Either way will cost thousands of dollars. if you had of come into my shop i would have said im not interested. if you insisted i would say it would cost you 20 hrs, to remove and replace exhaust manifold, re-plumb oil and water feeds, re plumb exhaust, remove and replace fuel rail and injectors, replace ecu and afm. re plumb intake piping. You supply all the parts. Thats $1550 + parts and im not even sure how it will run.

if its anything like nsw, then they are pretty switched on and know what they are looking for. You will have to get the car re-tuned to pass emissions test on std boost. Make sure cat is up to temp before they do test. putting back std ecu really is not an option for you with injectors and afm changes. good luck.
