  1. take it for a good 30 min drive , repeat test , 140psi is low but still usable ... for a while
  2. 4x4 gearbox? it's a gts4? , if you sell a broken car , people won't wanna pay sfa for it , higher klm doesn't help
  3. A31 is different to r32, r34 fits best , ^ what Mr Eps said
  4. me crashing me in a motorkhana http://www.youtube.com/jimeegee23#p/u/27/Z5NMOBI-VMg if i did a skid video , would someone else post it up?? And the c33 equivelant to the ceff skid nic posted:
  5. hehe , i bought a r31 the other day , and a second to make 1 nice car outta 2 , so i'll soon have a s2/3 ti manual for daily duties so i can take the laurel off the road to put a bigger heart in it (rb25 will take place of the 20 )
  6. that's about what i was thinking , maybe 7.5-8k with the box fixed
  7. are the injectors holding it back from more boost? ( i don't know a great deal about E85 , i'm asking because i'll be building something similar)
  8. don't sell , once you drive it you'll feel better about it
  9. i'd assume it'd be personal import , but contact iron chef imports , last time i was talking to him they were about to be passed for aus compliance or whatever they call it
  10. how hard/easy is it to get stuff shipped from nz??
  11. leather seats?
  12. gt30 or 35 wouldn't give me the response i'm looking for , great turbo's but yeah that seems like the go , i've searched round these forums a bit but haven't found the answers i'm looking for in reg to turbo sizing , i spend most of my time between 2500rpm and 5000rpm , the problem with the lil rb20 isn't the amount of power it makes but how long it takes to come on full boost (arond 4000rpm i think , pretty similar to my other car when it had a kkr430 strapped to its rb20) . It's my daily atm and i keep catching myself off boost when i really don't want to be, my last daily was a ba xr8 ute so i'm kinds used to large displacement engines too, i don't want/need any more than 200rwk really as i'd only get myself into trouble and a std 25 turbo is smaller afaik , what i'm hoping for is stock like response with a little more mid range as for the tb , yeah , probably too much effort for little - if any gain
  13. i probably will , the only reason i origionally didn't want to is because i'm building another car with a rb25 t67 and supporting mods , my aim for this car was basically to make it a fun streeter so minimal lag is important , i can't think of a better turbo to use for that exact purpose, i'm open to suggestions!
  14. ok , i spoke with my tuner today and got the answers i needed , incase someone searches for this i'll put up the answers: 1.) no , tightarse, sell them and buy s15(?) 480cc injectors 2.) .64 rear housing (i think it would be) = too small really , i'd be wheezy up top 3.) in short , yes 4.) not if your a tightarse 5.) not with the 2530 6.) i forgot to ask this question
  15. ahh ok , what am i trying to cover my arse for? yes they are the factors that make up torque, vaguely . i've agreed with you from the start? i am talking about quoting peak power figures with no dyno sheet like a few people have in this thread? which is why i said in the first post " power is like measuring the length of your penis , torque is like measuring the girth" . read my posts properly .
  16. i concur , my point was that i wasn't actually talking about that , my point was instead of everyone quoting peak power , why not quote torque band at whatever rpm as IMO this explains engine characteristics more than peak power .
  17. no, that the peak power is important in this case. i can argue if you want me to? only from sheer boredom though edit: ok i'll bite, kinda , but only because i have nothing better to do . Yes what you said is right , but the amounts/values can be altered by things like air flow, ignotion timing , cam timing , amounts of fuel at whatever rpm, type of fuel bla bla bla , which is indirectly what my previous post was about?
  18. i'm getting a 1 piece made up for the ceff , i just need the length between the uni joints (or the welds to the uni joints) before you cut it to fit the 180 . Hehe , i have a rb25det to laurel loom already (thanks for the offer , i'll take you up on that when it comes time to do the ceff i'm gunna need all the help i can with that one!! ) edit: actually , you should swap me for me r33 and a31 tailshaft , then you have a tailshaft to put back in the laurel with an rb30e+t and 5spd like i think you should
  19. wasn't particularly aimed at the OP , but i disagree with your statement (so many variables but i cbf explaining , it was more of a joke). ok for the OP since i can't make jokes round here: odds are the tune is pretty conservative/average , if your engine is tired (low compression for what ever reason) I would expect your tuner isn't going to lean on it very much because he wouldn't want it blowing up a day/week/month after tuning it as it could give him a bad rep. Now it may have went well on the 'old' tune but there is a possibility that the 'old' tune caused your engine to be in poor condition now. For your own piece of mind , take the car to another reputable workshop (with a dyno) and get them to give it a power run , get a print out of it and get their opinion on the tune .
  20. ok so i've decided to keep my laurel and use it for a streeter for a while , atm it's running a rb20 with a hks 2530, gtr injectors , z32 , pfc and all the other supporting mods , not being happy with the off boost characteristics i decided to buy a rb25 to slap in the lil 20's place (being a daily driven car , on the street lag can get effing annoying) . Now, before i start pulling it apart, i want to get the complete setup organised so it gets put back together as quickly as possible, so heres a few questions i'd like y'all to give me some input on: 1.) is it possible to use the gtr injectors? , if not , high flowed std injectors? 2.) would the hks 2530 be too small for an rb25 , if so , do you have any other suggestions (keep in mind i'm not after any power figure , just good response/torque) 3.) is the ap engineering pfc adaptable to rb25? (i do have a z32 ecu laying about ready for a nistune board if not) 4.) would a forward facing plenum be worth the cost for this type of setup? 5.) exhaust manifolds , is there any advantage to aftermarket types for lower powered rb25? 6.) is it worth looking for a larger size throttle body? if there's anything you think i may have missed , feel free to post up . thanks (please note: the reason i'm not aiming for big power is because i have a track car to do that with , which is why i'm kinda trying to convert this one as cheap as possible)
  21. why is it that everyone measures their cars performance by peak kilowatts? , shouldn't you all be reading torque figures a lil bit harder? ok so in laymans terms as far as i'm aware , measuring peak power is like measuring the length of your penis , measuring torque is like measuring the girth.... ask your missus which she prefers
  22. too easy mate , actually , speaking of gearboxes , you have a r33 'box in your lorrie? , (if you do) would you mind if i measured it?
  23. haha i see . yeah you can borrow it mate , it's still sitting in the car atm though (r33) , only needs the mounts unbolting at it'll fall out , actually i might get someone to rip it out for ya
  24. haha no the design was great , length didn't suit my barge though , i have the other one i'm not using for the ceff (25 and box) but i only got a 25 for the laurel (20 box will love it )
