  1. Ok, point = inverting sub loses performance. What about a ported enclosure vs sealed enclosure? Whats the advantages of a ported enclosure? Does the volume of a ported enclosure generally have to be larger?
  2. Are you after add-on strips to the guards, or a direct replacement for the whole front quarter panels?
  3. Look nice for $200, very nice. They are a totally different cover from the leatherettes kicking around, and it depends what turns you on - they would be nice and cool, but i'm still in the process of installing my leatherettes for something different!
  4. From memory, i use 4-channel mode, so the numbers are bigger - and i think that displays knock as a number. I also have the max values displayed alongside, i think you press right, or up, or down on the controller to turn this on or off.
  5. No probs, its a great resource, i refer to it for something every couple of weeks. I should keep it in my offline favourites, so windows keeps a copy in my cache!
  6. Paul - i know its in your powerfc resource, i mentioned that in my first post, but if you click on the link in your signature you'll notice its not working, due to sau site upgrades. Ta for the reply, i will look closely at my powerfc sensor values to see what it might be. Is there another link that works to get to your powerfc resource? I remember seeing some pics of how ppl had pulled apart their controllers and mounted their LCD+buttons.
  7. Decim8 - how did you go with your install? Did you go ahead with this design?
  8. Nice work, I like the way you made a cardboard model first, to make sure things fitted. Will do that for my boot install when i get around to it.
  9. I've never pulled my door panels off yet, so i dont know what's behind them, But when you add the 6mm MDF Spacer, wont this push the speaker out into the speaker grill? Or is there empty space between the speaker and the grill normally, which you make use of?
  10. Looking closely at my console lid, i believe it only goes on one way. You'll notice the stitching is different at one end, which i assume is for the locking mechanism... correct me if im wrong... Can anyone give advice on how to install the gear-boot, or handbrake boot? Old gear boot is held on by little metal crimped clips - do you cut these off, and how do you attached the new boot? Handbrake boot - how do you remove the old one, do you have to take out the centre console?
  11. Im not a mechanic, but i am an engineer with sound understanding of physics, and i cant see how a timing belt could "skip" a tooth - belt has bugger all weight+inertia...
  12. That might be it! It the duty cycle something set by the tuner, or determined by the powerfc to get enough fuel into the engine?
  13. Hey guys, i've tried to search for the answer (cause i've seen it somewhere before!), but cant find it, and Pauls PowerFC resources are down... My engine light is coming on under full throttle - sometimes when im sliding a bit. Its not knock - cause i look at the max value on my controller, and its only 15 or so. I dont think its speed, cause max speed was only 80 something... What other things will cause the PowerFC to light up the engine light?
  14. Webcams seem like a great idea, and they have been suggested earlier in this thread - but people are doubting their resolution and frame rates. I dont think they'd be a problem, theres some good ones avail these days - not those cheap $20 manual focus ones. I'll might do some research myself for a decent one... As a starter, Logitech's webcam on their webpage shows 640x480 live video capture, at up to 30 frames per second. Higher resolutions are possible, but for still capture only. Creative have a web cam with a resolution of 1600 x 1200 pixels, this is equal to 1.9MP which isnt bad! http://www.creative.com/products/product.a...16425&nav=1
  15. I know you can make the time.... but i gotta make the money first! Do you know the "height" of the amp too, so i know how much i'd need to offset it for a flush finish? I'm guessing 44mm.
  16. Do you mean something cheap (no warranty) on ebay, that you can install yourself? A good alarm and professional install is something that should not be skimped on, not when it comes to protecting ya baby!
  17. Can you please post the measurements of the Tru Tech in your cabinet? ie width x depth x also the height. I'd like to look at how i'll mount it, possibly vertically, but inset so it is flush with the vertical wall.
  18. Is that a custom install, to get the 8" LCD to fit? ie cut, plastic bondo + respray?
  19. George, you haven't got another quiet week at work coming up have you???!!! Also, i know you are going to run with some nice Rainbows in your Supra, will you use a Rainbow amp to drive them?
  20. Oh wow. By setup, you mean good sound deadening, (including the use of Dynaxorb behind the drivers), good positioning of the tweeter, and good tuning of the system? I'm starting to wonder if my carputer soundcard may be the weak link in all of this, and might let me down with sound quality.
  21. Mechanics will do more than just an oil+spark plug change - they look over the car for anything which is perished, loose, worn, broken, etc. They use their experience and qualifications (which i dont have), which is why i like to run my line past a mechanic every now and again to let them inspect it for something i cant see
  22. I used to fill up when my needle got close to the E, which took 50L.... then one day i saw the orange fuel light come on. Now i know i can get prob 40 kms when the fuel light is solidly on (not intermittently on-off), and i put in about 60L. So try running it down until you see your fuel light come on!
  23. So you need a MDF spacer to pull the speaker away a bit, is that so it fits in the hole - or so the back of the speaker doesnt hit the inside of the door? I'm thinking this is what fhrx did here:
  24. Hehe, thats funny. When i asked him if Tru Tech had a web site, George got pretty passionate - he was saying just trust me! Are many Tru Tech amps floating around, or are they a rare item?
  25. I picked up my Rainbow splits today, and spoke to APS about what the best amp to drive them would be, for under $1k. George showed me a Tru Technology beast, 4x100W, made in the USA. Anyone had experience with Tru Tech stuff? I did a search on SAU, not much mention - but on caraudioaustralia they have a good rep.
