Random Stuff. Some R33 Bits... Cheap...
Trav33 replied to GuestyR33's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Clear indicators are too pricey, Nengun sell new Nismo ones for $37. -
There's ways to "crack" DVD players, and change their region to Region 0 (all regions), lots of web sites about this (maybe google it?). Not sure if its possible with the panasonic drive though...
-
JB provide full warranty on everything they sell, this is based on the 12 month warranty i got on a pioneer deck last year. Don't they sell cheap because they buy in bulk, get good buying prices, and manage their overhead costs (cheap floorcoverings in the SA stores - i work in the floorcovering industry!).

The amp switch should have markings on it to show what its for? If its a low-pass / high-pass filter, you may also have an adjustment screw to set the cut-off frequency. You could use the speaker cables running from the front of the car to the rear of the car for your rear-speakers - these wouldn't be used for anything now? If you've got money to spend, you could install new high-quality cable, but i wouldnt bother - if you end up getting another amp, the speaker cable wont be used.

Will all Motorquipe stores start Retailing the products, or just the one outlet? Seems unusual that a Motorquipe outlet would sell high-end audio gear, i thought they would sell the more popular pioneer / soundstream stuff?
-
Wow, thats big,... show-off!!! No way that setup would fit in my tiny 33 boot, but thats ok cause i use a rattle-gun to loosen my bolts!

My splits don't run too well of the head unit, they needed an amp to give them lots of power - It wasnt a small deck either, Pioneer 4x45W. Not sure if you'll have the same prob running your splits off your deck? I had a 4ch amp, and ran front splits off 2 channels, and the other 2 channels bridged for the sub. Worked Well!! Does your amplifier have a frequency filter on it? Most do, you can flick it to Low Pass to only allow bass signals to be sent to the sub. Sky - do you mean bridge all 4 channels to run one sub? Dont think that would work...

I thought the problem might be R34 related? The same situation happened in Adelaide and had a professional alarm installed stumped for a while. Ask Chris Rogers for help!

Jim, If you cut these brass knobs off, do you think its possible to glue/drill/weld the knobs in another position? This would be handy to know before I pull my steering wheel off.... I too am fustrated with round-about turns!

You sure thats an antenna in the rear window of your 33 - mine is a demister (heater wire)!!!

My 33 did this in hot weather, turned the idle up a smidge and that fixed the problem.

Region code refers to the country/region where the DVD was released, vs the country/region where the DVD Player was released. (Not to do with Pal/NTSC). There are 6 DVD regions around the world, and the idea was to keep them seperate to help prevent DVD piracy. Australia is region 4, the Block buster DVD's would be region 4 dvds. Only reason for this error you are having, is if the DVD player is set to another region, maybe USA? Exactly what panasonic DVD player are you using? Here are the DVD Region Codes FYI: Region 0 - Compatible with DVD players from any region Region 1 - US, US territories & Canada Region 2 - UK, Europe, Japan, South Africa & the Middle East Region 3 - Southeast & East Asia Region 4 - Australia, New Zealand, Central & South America Region 5 - Former Soviet Union, Indian sub-continent, Africa, North Korea & Mongolia Region 6 - China All Region - Formatted for all regions (0 to 6)

I'd spoken to some car owners who have Viper alarms, and there are some positives which influence my decision over an AutoWatch alarm. I dont want an alarm re-engineered (isnt that what you guys did with Howies viper - reprogrammed a chip?), just wondering if it was possible to replace the wires to it. I have seen that it is a plug-in harness, and thought it might be possible to use a small screwdriver and unclick the wires, then use the small crimpers on some black wire, and click them back in... I havent had a harness plug in my hand, so don't know if this is possible. You boys are playing with wire all day long, and definatly have the skills to do this (as long as its not a fancy moulded plug). I thought an installer may offer a black wire upgrade as an add on sale. Then again... you guys dont like to touch these alarms which dont offer the best security (which is understandable!)

Hey George, I don't disagree with you re the Quality of Rainbow gear, and I WILL be buying rainbow speakers from you, just not sure on the particular model yet. I like to do my research using multiple sources, and speak to different people about things, to get a range of opinions & experiences. It's a bit hard to get those opinions though, because of the exclusivity of the product, and limited market share. That's why i've asked some questions here, which I agree you would be the most qualified to answer - When I see you I'll talk rainbow rainbow rainbow with ya - but seeing what other people say too!

So is there definatly no way to take the cable-harness, pop the colour wires out of it, and clip in new black wires into the plug?
-
Yeah i know to stay clear of the imported Ebay ones, George (APS) has warned me off. Just wondering if there is a way to open the unit and re-solder new black wires, and to run a second point of immobilisation.
-
Chris, whats a rough price to supply + install a Viper 791xv with all the bells+whistles (remote start, etc). Can the wiring loom be upgraded to black wires?
-
What was the point with the domain registry, company search, whitepages, etc???

I'm starting to design my audio system, which will be run from a carputer. I need to make sure I have a high quality audio source to start with, and am lookin at Sound Cards which have digital or optical out signals. Are there car amplifiers which support an optical in / digital in signal? Would be awesome if there was a 4ch amp which had 5.1 optical decoding, and could output the second 2 channels to an attached second "slave" amp. Or am I over exaggerating things, and analogue signals from a high quality PC sound card would be fine to send through an amplifier? Edit : I've found one 5.1 amp, Alpine MRA-F355, with optical in and full dolby processing!

I'm interested, how do i put my name down and who do i Pay? is there another thread with details that i havent seen?
-
I dont know why car manufacturers design it this way? Maybe to save $2 on electronics??? My previous cars have been the same as my current 33 - Holden VN Calais, 2002 Toyota Celica...

CS265 Profi, about $900? Is the CS265 Profi Kick Bass worth an extra $80? What does the 'kick bass' mean? How do the Profi line sound compared to the Sound Line range?
