I'm still fairly new to Skylines and turbos,... but have had the chance to buy a slidingperformance high-flow and install it. I've been worried that i have been hearing "turbo flutter", which happens when your blow off valve is blocked off? But after reading this thread (see below), i'm thinking the noise might just be more evident because i have a high flow and pod filter. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=141983 These are photos from my engine bay, i dont know much about bov's, but it looks like i have the stock one? Is there anyway to tell if my bov is not opening properly, and i am getting turbo flutter/compressor surge - or if the noise is occuring when the bov opens and recirculated air hits the turbo blades? Hope i havent said anything too stupid above - correct me if im wrong!

Sliding Performance Highflow For Rb25det
Trav33 replied to SECURITY's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Nice work. Notice much lag with the high-flow? What boost will you run? (when you find ur ball bearing!!) -
You should take it to a mechanic, and get him to compression test each cylinder, to rule out a blown ring. Thats step #1!
-
So there's ya proof you can get a system for approx $1000. Don't let a salesman tell you to go away and come back with 3-4 thousand! Not sure what stores you have over there, but over here i keep an eye on Tonkins catalogues, Strathfield, etc - and with christmas sales coming up, you should be able to get a good deal on your package.

I don't know the best thread to post this in... Has anyone had experience with G-Tech Performance Meters? They plug into your cigarette lighter, and measures acceleration accurately to tell you things like: 0-100 times g-forces and horsepower Wondering how well they work, and if anyone has one? The idea of being able to measure power without going to the dyno may be handy for making adjustments on my car, and being able to gauge the changes better.

I was quoted some rough prices for the Autowatch 456rli. $600 includes installation, +$90 for drivers door motor and relays Extra install costs might be incurred if you: -hook up electric windows -remote boot release That should give you a rough idea?... I was thinking of going for the 456rli, and also a GSM pager, which is another $700 on top, installed & setup.

If you go for entry level components, you should be able to get a system for a grand. Headunit, $300 - simple pioneer maybe, one preout for amp Amplifier, $300 - something with a bit of grunt for bass 12" Sub + enclosure, $200 Front speakers $100 Rear 6x9's $100 Won't be the best system, but if $1k is your budget, ya cant go overboard.

New or second hand, need a powerfc for R33 GTS-T manual, with commander.
-
I've been pondering this same question myself... I want to mount my amp on a fake vertical wall, so it can be seen but will not reduce boot space. Fhrx - I've never seen a sub mounted in that little void, how well does a 10" work in there? Do subs work better when you face them towards the front of the car, or will it sound pretty much the same, with the 10 inch facing up to the parcel shelf?

I had trouble finding info on that alarm, the Autowatch website isnt the best. But there is some on this page: http://www.securityinmotion.com.au/page/car_alarms.html I think this is Leon/danielR34's page?

I went to Repco, who did not stock a O2 sensor for a 96 Nissan R33 Skyline (or the dork couldn't use his PC properly???)... however i asked for an EL Falcon one which he had as a universal 3-wire part, for $127. I said no thanks, and will probably grab a Bosche Universal for $55 from Ebay.
-
This aussie site has them for $85, and the R33 GTS-T set of dials includes a little dial for the stock boost gauge. http://www.recklessmotorsport.com.au/products/dials/ I'll probably get a set of these...

If you're after a quick sale, try using the tradingpost. You'll probably have more luck than these forums!

Before you go bump bump bump every day... where's the pictures you said you'd post that night?.....

The Signs Of A Worn Gearbox?...
Trav33 replied to Trav33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
If anything... my shifter is getting tighter to change into gears! -
If you've cut a live wire without disconnecting the battery first, there's a good chance a fuse has blown... check ya fuse's on the drivers side kick-panel.
-
Don't 33's have a double-DIN head unit, hence no DIN sized pocket ??? Or are you after one from another Nissan make, which fits better than the cheap one you have?

The Signs Of A Worn Gearbox?...
Trav33 replied to Trav33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
So what are the general signs of a worn gearbox?...... -
What are the tell-tale signs of a worn gearbox??? I have an R33 GTS-T manual, and the gear box seems a bit more of an effort to change into gears, almost a crunch, but not quite. Also, when i go from first to second, and red line the car, then try to skip 3rd and go straight into 4th, it crunches and i have to wait for the revs to drop before it will go into fourth without clashing.
-
Someones a bit short... a million times hey?.... My manual 33 is doing the same thing this week, pull up at the lights, clutch in, and the revs drop right down, they come back up a bit but idle is a lot lower than it normally is.
-
How does no BOV affect the smooth running of a car? I know my 33 didn't come with one, the last owner must have removed it. Mine runs fine, except this last week with the really hot weather it has been not running well.
-
ceedub, do you have a dvd/cd drive hooked up to your carputer? I'm wondering how to mount a dvd drive and this LCD touch screen. Seen some units on mp3car.com which combine the two into a single DIN or a double DIN unit, they seem like a good idea.

Sliding Performance Highflow For Rb25det
Trav33 replied to SECURITY's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
When i got my SlidingPerformance High-Flow, i was lucky to have a mate who works in an engineering shop, with lots of high-tech tools. He took it to work and i think used a TIG welder to fill the hole. I would recommend this technique to fill the hole, i remember brazing from highschool days and believe TIG would be HEAPS stronger. (looks like yours has been welded too) -
The stock boost gauge on a 33 GTS-T isn't measured in psi, its in x100 Torrs... a Torr is x200 psi or something like that. So 1 on the gauge = 2 psi or 2-3 on gauge = 4 to 6 psi = normalish

jetdat - ya skipped my post! ... I'm keen for a set of covers for my 33 GTS-T, 2 door. Probably Black with Blue Inserts, blue double-stiching +Nissan Logos +Material for door trims No handbrake or gear boots or centre console cover Not sure on the wrinkle look yet... How much would this cost? I couldn't see any sort of breakdown, maybe i had a blokes look?
