No worries at all Dave. Even buy a set of fronts and see how they go for you. At the end of the day it cant hurt. Any idea what sort of rotor/pads temps you have been reaching?? -

next time were out Chris ill have the pyrometer and infa red thermometer. Its really handy for checked rotor temps at the end of a session. Actually you should have those heat indicators on your DBA's?? Un acurate I know but could give you an idea. -
Try and get the 20th off for the south circuit day Chris. Im planning to have both cars done and out there for some suspension tuning that day.

As for local suppliers Martins clutch and brake can get them but Ive found ABS in kirawee to be way way cheaper than martins (in the vacinity of 30% cheaper!!) I bought the front pair for my Brembos for $80 bucks and the rears were $50. If you want ill see what they can do 2 sets of skyline rears for as Jess is needing a pair soon as well. Jess' GTR had them fitted when she did a 30min session last time we were at wakefield. She had absolutly no pedal fad and was doing 1.14's through out the entire session. The Hawks I have also found ABS to be decently priced but through my old man I have a contact in the states who gets them cheaper but takes longer to receive obviously. If I have enough lead time I buy from the US but if not then ABS get my business. Chris if I was you id be looking at the UAS calliper adaptors to suit larger rotors. This way you could buy some better 2 piece 5000 series or similar, otherwise your car seemed to stop pretty well over the weekend. If the ultimates are working for you then id keep using them, however your going to get to a point where your entry speeds will be much faster and the pads will start to get far to hot hence the need to upgrade to a "hotter" pad. If you want to try a few different pads your more than welcome to go through my collection. A lot of them still have 60-70% remaining form when I was using the stock callipers. Ive got alot of different brands which you can trial till you find something that works. We plan to do the exact same thing to Jess' car shortly, Ill make my own adaptors and run a 330mm rotor with Lucas pads. -
Ive done hundreds of GTR turbos in the car without removing the engine, It save so much time and the vehicle is only off the road for a day.

I had HC's in my old front brakes they worked fine with the DBA 5000 rotors. They were superior to the EBC greenstuff and the DS3000's. However the Hawk HT10's I thought were better. In the new EVO brembos im currently using the same 5000series rotors but have completed one day with TRW lucas pads and they are brilliant. My car is fairly light by GTR standards and for the cost I really cant complain. I did switch them out for a pair of HT10's half way through the day and obviously found the hawks to be a better pad but the Lucas did not break apart or fad. I do have substancial brake ducting which would help as well. For normal track days ill be using the Lucas but for the faster stuff ill switch back to the Hawk's Dave id seriosuly consider the TRW lucas pads for the rear. I have had a set in the rear for 6 days now and still 50% remaining. Ive never had any dramas with my rear brakes and for the price it cant hurt to try them. -
Holly shit 4 years to cause of turbos! Does he have the money to repair it or not?? It is possible to do the turbos in the car, takes some time and patience but not impossible. Pm me if you want.

How Are The Garett 28-60r -5 Turbos On A Gtr?
Risking replied to GTRBOS's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
also have left the 2530's and gone with the garrett's in several cases. for what you seem to want GT-ss -
Sorry missed you all on saturday, I had a points score round with SSCC so had to do that instead. No problem bout the crane and stand Dave Like jess said her engine is now out and completely stripped down so shes bought a few nice bits for it. Hopefully will be going back in next weekend then you can grab the crane back again till your done with it.

the problem is without a reputation or atleast someone who is a knowledgable tuner the businsines' are almost always set to fail. You only have a small market in this area and those that have big dollar cars are already set with thier prefered workshops and wont be taking a chance with a new shop. Kystoph had RUF performance in ingelburn before Adrian took over and made it Toda austrailia and moved to wetheril park. There simply was not enough business around for him to thrive so he had to make the decission to move it elsewhere. Adrian is a brilliant tuner and also a very good mechanic. There is also Lewis at drift garage in ingleburn who is also a good mechanic but not a tuner. Alternativly you could get a hold of a local tuner (there are a fair few around here) and hire sureflo's dyno on a saturday morning. Greg is always willing to hire the dyno out as Ive used it alot in the past for locals that are not prepared to travel to Kirrawe for a tune.
-
They have now closed and sold up. Re-opened as macuathur auto group. They are now speciallising in the european market but different owners. Yes they had a mainline dyno and claimed to be tunners. I never seen anything in the carpark id even consider "tunned" If your looking for a close local tuner there really are not any. I know a fair few tuners that live in the area but non of them work locally. Adam at JEM is at moorebank and is probably the closest to you.

It appears the regs for each class may need to be more definitive, like John my GTR could be entered into the street class which really would not be fair. In my oppion if Boz drives his lotus on the road and its his own vehicle, then his elligable for clubman. You cant dictate one set of rules for non "proffesionals" and another for other people. If he attends a normal sprint then his entered accordingly. I for one would be happy to take it to Boz. Just cause his paid to teach etc does not mean his going to be the fastest in the class on the day. (no offence intended to John obviously, his taught me a thing or too as well... but mearly pointing out a fact) I agree on the driving other peoples cars but not his own.

Load points vary drasticly in different conditions like Adriano has mentioned. If a MAF is maxed its maxed and Id certainly never recomend someone to tune behond its scope. Esspecially if its maxing out early in the rev range. Only other option id consider than those mentioned would be the E11v2. Seems alot of people have differnent oppinions but ive been using one in my race car for the last 6 months and it does everything perfectly.

All from a Brand spanking new R33 GTR N1 crate engine. The parts have only been removed as im building a 1000Hp capable engine and really only needed the block but got the whole thing brand new for cheap.. Crank shaft, has literally been pulled out of an unstarted engine Its brand brand new. $1000 Conrods from the same above engine, never used and brand new. $600 Pistons and rings from the above engine, also never used and brand new. $600 Cams from the same engine, unsure if they vary from normal RB26's or not $400 More parts to follow and photos. Everything can be picked up from sydney or posted at buyers expence.

Removing Rb26 Sump Without Taking Motor Out
Risking replied to Duncan's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Ive had my sump off many times. Why pull the entire thing out again when the subframe is easy to remove. Just take the callipers off, undo the strut tops, undo the NSF drive shaft and pop the OSF shaft out of the diff, steering knuckle and the subframe is held in with 8 bolts. There's always a few extra bolts hold the odd line or bracket but nothing drastic. Sometimes its easier to loosen off the bell housing bolts and slide the box back 10mm or so. Leave the radiator and all the pipes/hoses etc etc etc all in place by using a engine sling. You can get all the sump bolts easily and the pressure releif valve is right there. Yours choice but id be removing the bottom half. -
With my extra 100Kw and all new suspension set-up (ohlins, swaybars etc etc) I was actually slower at wakefield. Once I get the suspension working properly again it should be much faster than before. Not to mention it should stop now too. Are you happy with the suspension Chris or is there more to be had?? Ive been using a pyrometer lattely and was seriously unaware of how uneven my tire temps actually were, for test and tune days like the L2s ones they are an excellent tool to have.

Evo Brembos On A R32 Gtr
Risking replied to Dominic's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Ferrrari F50 brembo sized rotors. From what I can see the EVO 9 callipers are basicly identical to the F50's. I have both. There are slight shape variances and the colour but piston surface area looks the same, takes the same pads and mounting lugs are visually the same as well. I managed to pick up a whole set from and rear with OEM rotors and pads for under a grand so its seriously a bargain brake upgrade. Add decent pads (I paid 200 bucks) and the rotors which I paid 650 bucks for and its still cheaper than R34 items -
was HP at adams that night but now making the same in Rwkw. Made 330Kw at 1 bar but more boost now and making 440Kw with ease.
-
Nice, ill drop past and have a look possibly today. I was doing a few things to Bobby's R34 Nur yesterday when the bars came up in conversation again. Mine has now made 440, its enough to get into trouble with, Had it at wakefield a few weeks back but broke a box and the brakes failed so was happy with 9's. Ive since fitted F50 brembos and repairing the box today.
-
Jason Bobby was chatting to you this afternoon. Ive got to arrange to drop past and pick up some sway bars this week. After tunning my car that night at Adam's I got bored and went back for more a week or so latter. You may remember you walked in at the end of the tune, Grey GTR fully caged with massive cams and external gates.
-
same its been ages since I was out on a decent skid pan. Im going to use the old street tires as well and RWD to go with it. 400Kw all to the rears should be interesting to say the least. Just need to find some rims to clear the new brakes
-
no need for any nuts and bolts, cable ties are lighter. Getting a bot extreme there though. I have a dash skin and cluster but nothing else.
-
For sure! Brakes bleed up today, transmission will be built tomorrow. So its all looking like it will be ready to go. There is a few regulars going out so its shaping up to be a really good day out.

The stand his using looks awfully familiar.....
