  1. whilst its apart be sure to fit the restrictor and a sump baffle and drill the sump webs. It may not be required with a restrictor but honestly for the 300 bucks they cost is it worth pulling the engine down again IF something happens. Id also be fitting ARP head studs if you plan to run a metal gasket and be sure to have the block deck and head surface checked/ground
  2. My cars had a few minor set backs but it'll still be on the trailer even with 0kms on the clock I really dont give toss. Sucks the old engine leaked and carried on like a bitch but loved to be flogged the new one is so clean and leakless but it cant stand a good thrasshing without stuffing something.
  3. He is also correct. Id probably be inclined to fit ARP bolts to your rods if you plan to use them, Close and hone the ones you have and have the little ends checked. Sam has never let me down and like you say his prices are really good.
  4. Only two places id use and recommend are Westend performance and duncan & foster. Sam at westend is responciple for some of the best Drag engines around and many of the top fuelers as well, his done all of my machining for the last 9 years and ive never once had a problem with his work. His all to familiar with the Rb engine as well, Duncan and foster we use for all out machining at work, they do good work and turn around is very reasonable time wise.
  5. First check the fork pivot if its okay change the master cylinder, seen it a million times over.
  6. I just cant wait to flog the GTR again!!! My new brakes are friggin massive, Diff's will be in, engine run in and should be making well into the 400's by deca. The car should be sorted and ready to clean up down there in a weeks time. Ill deposit and senda form monday cause I cant do it over the weekend.
  7. I was thinking the same thing charlie!!
  8. he didnt call me but I have a few you can borrow cause my car is off the road
  9. funny funny funny. Im not stopping for anyone on the way down, my passenger can piss their pants all they want for all I care!!
  10. more specific location??
  11. Low comp when cranking needs to be proven. DOnt assume it is. A lazy battery can cause they symptoms of low compresion when cranking.
  12. Ol mate Benny put the cost of shirts up a bit!
  13. jess I asume where we're staying there will be room for a car and trailer?? Im undecided which car ill be taking down. If there is no room the then decisiion is made for me
  14. Busy as always mate. If its 26 rods you want I have a perfect set balanced, closed and honed, shot peened, new gudgen bearings and ARP studs.
  15. By all means replace the waterpump and idlers whilst the timing belt is off but when it comes to fan belts etc replace them as nessisary not becuase its a 100K service. If cam seals are not leaking dont touch them because chances are they will leak afterwards!! If itss aint broke dont fix it!! Get all sorts of stupid things suggested daily but really treat it like a regular service with a timing belt. Replace worn items and keep driving.
  16. rotors are drilled from the factory so why exactly is an extra 3 holes going to matter??? I've drilled hundreds of rotors and never had any problems nor Have I ever heard of anyone else having problems. If you want to keep the 4 stud, drill a set of GTR rotors bolt the callipers up and away you go. If your sketchy about drilling rotors pay a workshop to do it and let them worry if anything goes wrong (which it never will)
  17. funny that hey Dave. I just pulled down my 20,000k old GTR engine which has done more circuit laps than 90% of most forumers engines and there is stuff all bearing wear and nil bore wear. Quick hone and away it goes again. I changed it after every 3 meetings I guess and it lived a happy life, only reason it came out was due to leaks.
  18. morton an may in the el toro estate liverpool way. Ive used most of the wheel repairers around and they have been by far the best.
  19. then even with the right tools sometimes it still an arse of a job!!
  20. chances of pressing apart a main shaft in a vice are very slim. Ive had the press buckling and then had to heat the rings up in the past. There are proper pullers that need to be used to prevent damage to bearing surfaces and soforth. Seriously gearboxes are not really the sort of thing you overhaul at home without the correct tools.
  21. 25 and 26 rods are worlds appart!! Like a few have said the 26 rod will be happy to support the power your chasing providing you dont rev the bejebus out of it.
  22. Its an open day so a few different types of cars. Similarly run to the SAU day really. Being a weekend there may be a few more cars than a week day but I just need any track time to run it in. Cost is 100 bucks I think
  23. Bottom end sold to me =)
  24. Open session day at wakefield on the 28th of July. Im going to take the GTR down the run the engine and new brakes in before Deca and give then suspension a shake down. If anyone else is interested in coming can organise to meet up somewhere perhaps. Its a Saturday btw.
