What year model and series?? I have them all. -
Post it up?? What dyno??

If your gapping down to .6 you have a serious ignition system problem. Im running 2 bar with .9 no worries. I set up all my cars and customers car similarly.
-
tacker got a dyno sheet to back that up??

7's are really to cold for a street driven car, id be suprised if they came out "clean" Generally there is no formula for heat ranges, rather you have to read the plug and make an educated decission about whats going to work. For a mild street driven car 6's are the way to go. I usually run 6's if I drive it around and change to 7's when I know its going to get flogged.

Cunching Syncros At High Rpm
Risking replied to NYTSKY's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
The Z33 box is actually a POS compared to the R33 box. There is little to any doubt that the R33 box is the best gear set nissan have ever used and is identical to that used in the GTR. Look closer at the Z33 box when its stripped down and pick the weak points. The RB25 has offset baulk ring teeth 1st-3rd, The Z33 does not. The R33 has a very simple selector arangement, the Z33 has a barstard thing thats prooving to be difficult. The R33 has a much courser set of splines on the main shaft which the Z33 box is also going to struggle with come to decent HP engines. Putting the Z33 box in is not an easy task anyways. It has an external and remote shift selector which is way to short for the R33/R32. the gear box mounting positions are extremely different and not to mention the fact that the Z33 flywheel won't fit the back of an RB without fouling the block. There is NOTHING wrong with the RB25 box besides the fact that they WEAR like anything does. Ive re-built hundreds of them and they will last another 15 years without any dramas when treated right and looked after. Broken selectors ARE NOT THE BOXES FAULT. Thats just drive abuse!!!!!!! My advise is to try decent oil in it and if need be pull it out wack a set of baulk rings and bearings into it (no real need to do selector sleeves etc unless really worn) and then enjoy what is a truely superiour gear box. -
Personally I would have put an SR20DET into it but the RB should be okay.

Im at oran park tommorrow! Can always do a run with the stock ECU, plug the Power FC back in and do another run. instant back to back runs. Show any flaws in my tune too!

everything will be fine then. just run your usual 1 bar or .8 what ever and leave it be.

Pfitzner (ppg) Dog Boxes, Reliable?
Risking replied to Chris Wilson's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Ive recently had trouble with PAR boxes in a customers R33 GTR. Its making 420Kw and is having huge problems with 3rd. Looking at the gear they start as a 2 peice gear, the actual gear itself then the syncro dog teeth are on a separate ring thats welded to the gear, In this particular case the welds are constantly breaking around the gear. PAR don't want to know about the problem as you would expect. They seem to beleive oh the box was built a few years ago and its normal for them to fail after a while. My x misson box has been taking the same ammount of grunt for a while and Ive had no problems at all. Id expect the PAR box to be more than capable as well. -
All Gtr Drivers I Have A Problem With My Boost Controler
Risking replied to evlgtr's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I had a similar problem with the ID3 on my GTR. I had to replace the lines and use new ones then the thing works perfectly. I also latter on mounted the solonoid closer to the actuators and its much more responsive now. (boost control) -

Anything from the major jap companys will do what your asking for. It really comes down to will you use the extra features and how much do you want to spend. Im using an ID3 from blitz. Its okay but I could really get away with a profec b or similar as I dont use anything extra that the ID3 provides. In my oppinion the AVCR is just full or features no one would really ever use.

Jeff's car is pretty quick now. SHould be good to see a back to back on adams dyno. Made an extra 25 I think it was on mine last week. If we have another ill strap the GTR down for sure. Im going to finish off the tune at 2 bar this week coming so it should make some bulk grunt again. DIF I have a daughter boarded RB20 ECU here if you want it too.
-
You can drive the car around without any problems at all. You dont need to get the injectors etc just because you have the 2860's. The 2860's will need the support to make any sort of decent power but run your usual boost and live happily till you can afford the supports. Give the thing time to settle in if nothing else anyways.

Why won't your current tunner use the emanage. Some people are far to fussy. its not really hard to tune once you get your head around the fact its an anterceptor not a stand alone. If your tunner has a knock box of some sort and a wide band there is no reason why he can't tune the emange. He may rely on the knock warning on the Power FC and hence not like the emanage.
-
Id be knocking the timing back via the CAS to prevent it from detonating if thats the case. With a stock ECU fitted and the base timing correct it should not be pinging at all. PM me if you need to know how to knock the timing back and check it. Adam is a top bloke id agree. QRIo5E if people want to use Adam im sure they can call him and organise the work themselves instead of using you as a middle man. Im sure adam would rather run HIS business like that as well?? Recommendations are all very well but people can organise their own work. Jeff glad to here your happy with the car. It does have a really nice midrange, I spent alot of time with that section of the tune and it really does show when driving the car on the street.
-
I personally like the emanage, its not the easiest thing to get results from but does its job well. PM me if you want.
-
Are you serious??? Dont be afraid to lean it out to make more power & economy??? Id be very affraid if you were tunning my engine!
-
Nothing wrong with the GTR air box besides the fact its a pain to work with. Ive also seen a few GTRs making 350 with it still fitted. power is not flattening off because of a restriction its flattening cause of the sheer ammount of fuel its swallowing! GTR injectors will be fine for 300kw like his planning to run as will the MAF's
-
^^^^^^ Exactly right. 2530's cam gears and a power FC. The engine is built etc but at the time had stock cams. I tunned it and it not very laggy at all considering the boost and how low it is (13psi) The thing pulled like a train as you could tell by the flat power curve. Thats an old set-up but similar to how yours could be with the right mods. Got yourself a Power FC, cam gears and go from there. BTW that graph belongs to the other GTR that was at the JEM day. Its mine.
