Track Battle Australian Time Attack Series
Risking replied to GTR32G's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
It is just a super sprint at the end of the day. I also believe and have it on good information that the nsw state super sprint panel are in the process of trying to add a "time attack" category to their championship line up. Just to give all those cars at WTAC somewhere else to compete. Anything unreg will require a cams logbook of any category an the cars will need to fit into the new "time attack" regulations they will potentially put in place. Same sort of thing they did with SVD. -

No I leave the hump in the sump. It's a raised hump not a bowl. The scavenging port in the rear of the sump has a separate channel feeding it.

Skylines Can Have Somewhere To Race Again

Your dreaming of you think you could build an r33 GTST to these rules and get it under 1250kg's with a gen3 and a cage. You can't go cutting the body shell up and fitting light weight panels. Your car weighs 1360kg's now with nothing in it and no cage...... -

Skylines Can Have Somewhere To Race Again

I don't think their idea is attract time attack competiors. More to lewer people like Duncan and big pete out of prod cars and into something that allows them to modify the engines and suspension alot more freely. They don't need massive body mods they simply need more power. As a prod car duncan's (besides his engines) is the most sorted I've seen a relatively mild Gtr. Give it another 150kw and it would be a screamer. These heavy metal rules allow him to do that and still race a championship. I see it as more of an ipra category without the restrictors to a degree...... I do agree about the weight limitations. They are a tad optimistic for any vehicle with factory body let alone skylines. -

Last known r32 GTST would be the m spec 1993models. Might ask for 1993 instead. It's only that the model had to be manufactured up till the date. I do t think it matters of your actual car is an 89model?? Ryan it actually suits r33's like yours that are not prod cars but aren't really fast enough to be a sports sedan. -
The NSSA (national sports sedan assosiation) has a "heavy metal" sports sedan category. At the bottom there is a link to the additional restrictions applied to the category. Ive already put forward to have post 1995 models added. R33 & R34 obviously. Opens up the door to some S14 & S15 cars as well. Unfortunatly the R32 misses out but I have asked the question if the year could possibly be moved to 1994 to allow them to run as there'd be a number of cars who'd be interested id imagine. It allows modified skylines to race with a much more relaxed rule set. Besides coachwork which is being kept restricted and chassis modifications. Also planning to put the question to the NSW state sports sedan guys to see if they are planning to open up a sub category like they did for the "trucks" and comodore entrants. If guys with R32's are interested please post in here and ill link this in an email to the NSSA to show there is interest from R32 owners (I think they'd agree cars on grids is more important than year of manufacture) HMSS regulations

CAMS have defined a space frame chassis in the 3D regulations. Basically A 2wd floor pan vehicle must retain, roof, pillars, door sills and the majority of the factory floor pan. Mods to tunnels etc are permitted. As Duncan and I have argued awd rules suck the arse ad are not worth mentioning. A space frame Is a tube chassis which non load bearing coach work is attached. So tube extensions are fine providing the floor pan etc remains. Can't see how the TG s14 is going to retain the oem floor pan etc....... It's a space frame just as my R34 is too. I dont think many of the current running cars break the "space frame" rule. But there is a few cars being built that 100% do. The majority of the running cars are " heavy metal" sports sedans. Which seems like a great category to now go and race a skyline!!

I think alot of people don't understand just how much work goes into making a car go as quick as some of them have. I know guys who build cara would agree that it's not a simple case of bolting shit on and hoping for the best. One of the cars I have at the moment has about 200 hours in the body and suspension alone. It doesn't even roll yet.....
-
Dave I do agree it's 100% a sports sedan the way I've built it. But I'd like to know exactly where the line in the mud is drawn regarding tube chassis "extensions" I had another chassis builder at my shop this morning looking at a chassis I'm building for WTAC and going through some geometry for a chassis his building. We were discussing the TG and fernandez cars. As far as we were concerned anything which has a factory floor and firewalls with tube rail extensionsis a 3/4 car not a space frame. If it's lost it's floor and original rails it's a space frame. I've got a spare jiged chassis sitting here and it retains more factory steel than the TG s14 does. I've been toying with the idea of an awd conversion and an SB2.2 but I'd like to know exactly what they define as being space frame. Can we build one and tack weld the floor and fire walls with towers in? Is that a floor pan car still. I know of an FD, JZA80 and another R34 which are being built this exact way It would appear the "at promoters discretion" rule applies to determine what your car is.
-
I wanna know what they declare as a "space frame chassis" f**k me anyone seen the tuners group s14? Or even fernadaz's ute?? How come they can somehow claim to be running time attack in those cars. I cant see how those cars vary from my r34 ( which I'm told can't compete) besides the fact my engine is 10inches rearwards. I proposed to move the engine forward and remove the hewland transaxle. Still no good it's a space frame...... If you took either car to a cams sanctioned event they'd both be classed as space frames not floor pan chassis cars. Some of the rules could do with some defining. I personally don't care if it can't run I haven't built it for that purpose but some definition of space frame chassis wouldnt go astray.

Good when shit happens easily and is simple! Glad it's done. I got your text but my f**king phone won't reply. 2600 is the answe to the question. Got desperate, right place right time.

Thee has been heaps of interest in the auto which is odd but meh. I'm having an auto specialist look inside it tommorrow and drop the pan off to see what's been done briefly inside. From his short drive of the car his suggested it has some type of modified valve body and shift solenoids as well as the obvious stall convertor. In his experience the box would be worth a few grand to build so I'm going to ask $500 for it with everything. If someone really wants it you are welcome to drive the car for the next week before it gets pulled down -
