  1. you going to race or just show up?? GET OUT THERE AND RACE
  2. were going to mould off an original GTR and modify the glass pannels to suit. Ill make plugs then the final product will be a composite material simply for the weight factor
  3. POST OF THE FRIGGIN THREAD!!!!!!!!! Seriously guys get off your arses grow some balls and do it, If your worried about rules and regs get on the phone call a cage builder and Ask the question! Its not going to cost you a fortune to set the car up ive said it before your driving WILL be the limiting factor to your success or failure! In my oppinion if you need to be asking all kindas a questions and are worried about rubbing pannels etc they like Duncan said stick to supersprints where there is bugger all risk. And seriously if your worried about cutting up a car to put a cage into it then you really should not be trying to door to door race it. If your in my way I will go under you into any turn and I dont mind you turning into my car, You on the other hand might have something to say about scratching your prefect paint job. I binned my car into the wall at oran park a few meets ago, Decent hit green paint all over it. If your not prepared to bin the car and damage it then dont put yourself into that position!! Perhaps a go kart would be a cheaper and more fruitfull option if your worried about your car?? The rules are not that strict your all getting worried about stupid shit that is nothing to be concerned about. Who gives ashit about cams this and cams that. Get a cage and be done with it, I wear friggin undies and a race suit every meeting so who cares about thermal bullshit. Your not racing for sheep stations your racing to learn the art more than anything. GET OUT THERE AND DO IT
  4. Its miged with a nicelt set up machine and very straight welding
  5. I gotta build boz a car before he can race. Bozs car has basic bolt ons atm, we're going to go all out on it and build a budget racer using decent parts and build a full cage for it. His gotta be in the same state for more than 20mins before we can do that though
  6. That cage is MIG welded
  7. The rules have changed a bit over the years but aftermarket oil pumps are allowed providing they fit with no modifications to anything else. The pick up is free so we went with a nice external pick up with an an inline filter. So far it seems to be working okay. The sump is massive which was another big change this time around. Some trick baffling and good capacity.
  8. im not worried about a completion date, ive got cars laying around that are more than competative enough to race in the mean time. Im sticking with the R200 arse end for this car. \Next one might get something different Thanks Duncan glad you liked what you seen!
  9. Possibly looking at a hewland but the holinger is going to be much easier so Im thinking ill stick with that
  10. sweet let me know how it goes. Im sure there is a few little things that will need to be tidied up underneath the car, like the box breathers and silly shit like that. Bring on the day nighter!! Oh and dont forget the oil filter! Sam is anal about cutting it open to check after the first few changes. Bring two spares to the track as well
  11. Ive never let pads totally cool after a bed. Usually ill let them cool off evenly with a slow lap before coming in but otherwise once the edge is taken off heat wise they should be fine. The HT10's ive found bed much better to an OLD rotor than a freshly machined one. Initial bite feels much firmer, the pagids I now use wont bed into an old rotor at all and require new ones every set of pads, or a surface grind at least. Duncan how did the DT60's bed to old rotors??
  12. when did the full cage rule change?? As far as I was aware if it was rego'ed then it could have a half cage and if it was a "race car" then it had to have a set of front legs??
  13. After ALOT of screwing around and what ive now called Duncan luck he has just taken the car and its even driven 300odd Km's!! We've now got a really nice sump which has a slight leak but fixable, a nitto oil pump and external pick up and a heap of other little oil mods which should keep the bearings going roundy round Bring on the next engine failure Duncan im sure there will be something else interesting next time around. We do also have a spare now though which is almost completed. Day nighter in a fortnight and so far its looking like duncan WILL be there.
  14. Its really not a project for the feint hearted. Ive poured alot of cash into it already and even doing all the work myself its getting expensive. Im now considereing the transaxle option but the cost of purchasing one is pretty high. And ive already got a good enough transmission. Its the kinda of car everyone would love to have but is so out of reach. Something il be working on once this car is done
  15. what do you need to know about cage regs?? For the MRA if the car is rego'ed it can have a simple bolt in rear section. If its a race car it must have a cage that conforms to the realtive cams manual. It doesnt have to be cams logged but demed safe by the scruits. Dont get all caught up in the regs and shit guys, get your arses out there and race seriously. Bolt a half cage in and GO! There is NO category rules No regulations other than saftey.
  16. you dont need to spend a mint just get out there and race it I garantee the biggest improvement to your racing you can make is to drive! The car becomes less and less important in the begining. Get out there enter the meets and learn to race. Passing at a sprint is one thing, try making a gap to get through when the guy infront doesnt want to yeild. Thats an art you need to learn unless your happy to be at the back. Cant stress it enough dont spend the money on your car, spend the money on entry fee's and experiance. See it way to much guys trying to run at the front with no idea how to race. Its dangerous.
  17. 100 bucks and ill pick it up. Its honestly scrap but I need a selector fork off it
  18. get in and come try beat me if you can. Im skipping oran park to do this round instead, supersprints bore me to death.
  19. Im selling a cheap Inverter type TIG welder. The machine is DC only, it will not weld alloy (AC welding) Its a china brand and only 6 months old. Comes with a good quality torch attatchment, ground cable and power lead. You will need to buy Tungstens to suit your material, collet and a flow meter. The unit is capable of 200amp welding and ive run it for long periods without any issues at 90-100amp. So the duty cycle is decent enough to weld up cages and general jobs. Im selling it as I have upgraded to a new AC/DC machine and this is now sitting around so someone may as well get some use from it. Works perfectly and can give a demonstration of its weld quality before purchase if you want. Asking $200 pick up but may be slightly negotiable Located in sydney.
  20. if that was my S2000 you'd be a dead man not a bragging one!!
  21. Slight update. Ive done some hoop and chassis work but its slow atm due to a few other things happeneing. Thanks to just jap ive now got some decent looking air jacks for it And I picked up the new coilovers this morning which look really nice. And a photo of Jays new volks that JUST clear my porsche brakes For referance those are 18 inch wheels and there is bugger all room between the caliper and rim. 380mm rotor.
  22. Yeah I shouldnt have been driving anyways so kinda sucks. I was only planning on doing that session and handing it over to jay for the rest of the day. Shit I was crook last night! I've been in bed asleep by 730 everynight last week. I had a few drinks saturday night which was a BIG mistake! There appears to be a selector shaft poking out the side of the gearbox casing. Probably wont get to it for a week or two. Got to finish Duncan's car this week so he can go break things again too. Only minor stuff to do to it and then I couldnt be arsed pulling the white car apart yet. The car was really alive though. It was running proper boost levels and felt good for the two laps I got to do at pace it didnt get to show its real speed unfotunatly
  23. Slicks is a whole new ball game come car set-up and driving it. There is time there to be had but you'll need to look at the suspension to get the most from them
  24. Looking for a busted RB25 5 speed. Dont care what condition but expect to pay according to the condition obviously. Prefer busted as I have a good one already. Can pick up in Sydney and prefer it that way if possible
  25. yeah im alive only just. Its out of the garage Duncan. Just some little things to finish it off and will be done. Stuff like oil temp senders and shit. Sorry haven called I will call you tommorrow for sure.
