Oil Control In Rb's For Circuit Drag Or Drift
Risking replied to Sydneykid's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
For those interested with my dry sumps I block off the head to sump oil returns and run one good -12 scavenger from the rear of the cyl head. It lets me maintain much better control of the crank case neg pressure and the one scav off the rear of the head works perfectly. I dont care if there is too much oil in the head all the breathers are blocked off besides the one releif valve. And yes I have tested and tested the dry sump system to come to the conclusion that this works. -

I wouldn't call power cruise "circuit work" Take it out for a 20min flat nackers race at the front of the field and give it the real test. I had never run external returns/vents on my wet sump engines. ( I do now just cause it cant be a bad thing) I did have a breather return to the sump. Super sprints, 4 lapers never had an issue. Give it shit for a 12-14 lap race at full noise and see how it goes, thats the only way to test a circuit cars breathing system period, having said that I did test mine and it didnt have any breathing issues but did break an oil pump the next time it went out. -
Using FK rod ends exclusively everywhere on the car. Im buying through a Sprint car mate who purchases them in bulk and has plenty of stock so to speak. I wouldnt pay the asking price that most places want for them it would cost a fortune Paying roughly a 3rd of the normal asking price

Nothing much to report recently. I have not been very well so havent touched it really. I did manage to source some parts. A massive thanks to all the guys at Just jap who came up with a fair few air jacks during the week for me. Ill even have spares now. Also got the rest of the cage and space frame material, Loads of rod ends and spacers, and a few other little things Im forgetting cause I currently dont care.

coming to play with the big boys in 4D are you Ando?? Anything on slicks will be classed as a 4D car. The Falken RS is not a bad tire, ive used one set and probably wouldnt buy again but they worked well. I got 3 days from a set before I noticed a real difference and sold them off whilst there was still tread left. The green spot was short, maybe two 20min cycles. 3 if your lucky The Kuhmos have actually not faired to well with the guys. Greg chews them to bits and Warren Weldon was using them but has now switched to the Dunlops as he was also chewing them up really fast. The best option of all the slicks ive used are the Michelins, in any size you wont beat them. For a novice on slicks they also give the best feedback and predicatability.

237 is not optomistic. My accurate data logging (aim MXL pro) shows 246 from that day which is slow by that cars standard. Yours was no sloutch in a straight line.

Paul didnt one of your engines spew oil everwhere at the first superlap?? Im not up for an argument I dont give a shit about wet sump set-ups anymore but I thought you DID have big breathing issues?? -
Bolt in cages can be cams approved. What are you going to log book the car as?? Prod car id be guessing unless cams now has a drift car category?? Bonds roll bars do a bolt in or weld in kit. You cant go past them for price but be sure to have it extended to suit your intended category.

Uneven Tyre Wear At The Track
Risking replied to evil_weevil's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
The best thing you could do for that car Chris is to get it set-up properly and once. Take it to Nick at racetige and have him do a suitable set-up. Its not cheap but the results do speak for themselves. Jay and Duncan will attest that Nick did a beautiful job of getting my GTR to steer. Its better than anything ive ever driven. It doesnt currently have the most exotic parts actually alot of them are budget specials atm. But its corner speed is well above what it used to be. Tire pressures will only get you so far when corner speed is so vital. Nick will weigh it and set droop, allign it properly and advise you of anything else. He had mine for a day and spent the majority of the day working with it. money well spent. -

Par Gearset/dog Engagement
Risking replied to NYTSKY's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I can come up with the hollingers within a decent time frame. Its a matter of the people I can buy them from getting them as well. They are ex super car boxes which have been serviced and rebuilt. Ill ask whats available. But yes it would need a bell housing attatched and a tail shaft made up. Im not a fan of helical gears. They have pros and cons and im a performance situation there is a reason most good things are straight cut. But your right the noise does drive you insane. The hollinger would work out more expensive than a PPG though. If your interested ill ask the question -

Dont buy a helical PPG box. You will break it. Straight cut or nothing when it comes to dog engagements. Been there done that with pretty much all of them. PPG is far better than most though The ONLY one id now recommend is the H pattern Hollinger which is what I suspect is in my car now but not certain. Buy the H6S its pretty much the same box as my H6S-SEQ but a H pattern You'll need a bellhouse ing its the only bomb proof box I would trust. I know of some second hands ones coming up for sale if your interested. Pretty well priced too. -
Uneven Tyre Wear At The Track
Risking replied to evil_weevil's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Chris you'll never fully combat tire wear around oran park. The track surface is hard on tires and the left handers will tear them to bits. I go through a full set of drivers tires in one meeting out there. I stager the camber 1degree more on the RHS for south circuit -
hey I donated who what now.... Ill donate them to you when you donate new ones to me

I now have officailly done nothing new!! Shit a brick im slack. Honestly ive been distracted from the project this week but next week ill be back into it. Main hoop is still being done and finalised. Jay donated some really nice rims today, good mate hey!

Id agree. Its not even worth fabricating a half cage when they are cheap as a kit. Extend on it if you wish but you wont find cheaper than those kits to begin with Fairly sure I settled on a rod end supplier today (rose joints) Pretty expensive little barstards and need a heap of them so looked around for a good brand at a good price.

Somethin like that. Trying to use as little scrap as possible though I've got to make a trip over to race tech steel and pick up my order of tubing this week sometime. I've run out of material which is rather annoying but I havent bought any for some time.

Thanks Andrew, Im working away an hour or two a day in between Duncan's GTR and Jay's new race engine. I got the main hoop bent up today and some chassis bracing tacked into position. Its going to need to be jiged very soon so things dont move around too much.

R34 Tiptronic Transmission Problems
Risking replied to a topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Has anyone found a solution for this yet? I have two vehicles here with the same issue. Ive tried, new and used solonoids, new valve body, ECU, Wiring loom and double checked it, Shift control unit (drivers kickpanel) -
Here is a current photo of it. The design involved trying to get the lower sill pannels to sit flush with the lower chassis rails. So we angled the outter mounts at 14 degrees and have the body sitting on two outter rails which the main hoop and front legs ect will also become a part of. I've had to revist pythagoras over the last few days to make sure im getting everything perfectly square. Im using proper squares but with key bars ill keep measuring the 3/4/5 triangles to be 100% certain. Tommorrow ill bend up the main hoop and start the front legs. Plan is to get them fitted to I can work out exactly where the upper chassis rails are going to be anchored to. Despite doing multiple drawings and sketches it really is easier to use them as a guide and build it as you go. So far anyways. I spent a bit of time with the guys who will be doing the body work tonight. Im hoping they can fit something really special into the rules but im yet to clear up what I am and aren't aloud to do. Glad to hear your interested Pete. So far there has only been one person say its a bad idea, otherwise everyone whos seen or heard about it has had some interest. Id like to see some Supra's and other jap imports built.
-
Ill take a few latter on tonight once I have the front chassis rails back on and in position. I took your advice Liam and have moved them further in remounting the rack up top and so forth. The body is mounted to the main chassis rails which im pretty happy about. And ive now started the lower control arms after finally settling on a length late this afternoon. I have found one set of 18 by 13's but they are a pair only so would look funny. I currently have some 18 by 11's and 18 by 10's that im setting it up firstly with.

The....what Motorsport Is On 1hd (or Sd) Now Thread
Risking replied to Duncan's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
I get it off a crappy little ariel and digital box. Good to see caruso get a win for something different!! -
Im selling a full set of 4 Falken V04 R comp tires Size is 285/35R18 They were scrubbed at a recent oran park practice day and only did a handful of laps. There is approx 70% tread remaining. They managed to hold down a RWD GTR and produce consistant 1min16 laps around the GP circuit. The tire is a discontinued model and im not sure if they were even sold locally. These were imported. The size WILL fit under a stock R32 GTR front AND rear on 9.5 or 10 inch rims. Only reason im selling them is I usually run full slicks in a much wider size and I may as well sell these off while they still have good tread left and are worth using on someone's car. I want $600 pick up and im FIRM on the price. If no one wants to pay that im not fussed ill leave them on the rims and use them up at practice days. Located in Sydney would rather pick up as I dont have time to organise freight etc.
