Im betting its not spinning all four wheels, I think it'd only be spinning the rears and there is something wrong with your ATTESSA or more likely your transfer case.

I have no comment about the durability of the D2's as yet. They seem to be okay at the moment and currently are the primary coilover we use in the GTR. The DMS are very good but the D2's are taking the load atm. However.. What can be so bad about it??? There is a dampner and a few bits hanging off it. We dont use the springs as it was found they are very inconsistant. And if you re-read my post you'll see im not 100% on the valving either. There is a few people who will attest that the suspension in my GTR is far from regular. With totally re-designed control arm positions and layouts. It works extremely well and to date the D2's have done a good job. Glad your liking those Tein's Adam. They did work very well.
-
Do you have any proof to back that up?? I have a 480Kw GTR with D2's thats gone around wakefield in a 1:04:88 south circuit in a 48:00 and GP in a 1:16:02. I've done loads of actual back to back testing and the D2's actually perform pretty well. The valving leaves a little to be desired but with a heap of range they can be set-up pretty well. In the GTR with semi slicks at oran park we'll run a 8.6/6.2 and with slicks a 10.2/8.6 Saying that dont use the supplied springs, buy a good quality set of Eibach springs and you'll be happy. For the money they work really well and id recommend them. If you have the coin then you cant go past DMS dampners or the good ohlins gear.

For The Guys Wanting Entry Level Motorsport!

Yep it sure is. Ill be aiming to have the GTR done by wakefield instead of the sprint. Can drop a round so that'll be it. -
Ive got other cars I can bring but not sure as yet. Im pulling the GTR back off the circuit for a little while to make a few improvements and finish a few things I started but never did 100% right.

I may not be. Have a severly cracked sump from a crown wheel and pinion explosion at oranpark last weekend. Since the sump is a one off dry sump Im kinda screwed for time to repair it. Not to mention the aray of other shit thats in need of doing to it.

Whats interesting?? Im confused.....

Yeah I guess clouting a wall puts a small dampner on the whole day. I wasn't that upset about it suprisingly. Chris doesnt have to wait till next year. He needs to get an entry in and have a go now. -

You can run what ever you like there is NO strict rules like the CAMS sanctioned events. It really is budget door to door racing at its best. The quicker cars obviously get stuck into the sports car category. A neat well driven GTS-T would be competative in the combined sedans as too would a well build GTR Like Jay said I drove the old Grey GTR at a wakefield round last year and took out the event. It was pretty basic at the time. Had bugger all power but really well sorted suspension for what it had in it. There are a few scraps during the racing over positions but very rarely does it end up in panel damage. Chris there is an MX5 category. There was a billion of the bloody things out there on Saturday! -
Yesterday was the 2nd round or the MRA (Mini racers australia) championship. Its a door to door series but the guys who race in it are not running for sheep stations and its a really friendly laied back event. There has been heaps of people asking lately about entry level door to door racing and seriously this would be the category for you to run in. There is two category's skylines can be entered in. Combined sedans or we get stuck with the sports cars if your quick enough. There is a massive mix of cars from escorts to Radicals. Yesterday we ran with the sports cars. In qualifing we split an intercooler hose. So drove home and nicked the hose off Duncan's race car which is in the garage. We managed 5th on the grid. First race off the line I jumped from 5th to 2nd before turn 1 (oran south) Car was performing perfectly on falken semi's. Before the clutch pedal stopper bolt got caught on the steering colom bracket and caused the pedal to stick on the floor. As I turned into turn 4 the clutch pedal came flying back up and speared the car into the tire wall. Data shows it coming off the track at 112K's Race was red flagged so I actually finished 2nd going on a lap count back. We bashed the bracket out of the way and cleaned out the rocks and stones from the under carriage. Cleaned up the rear quarter and knocked a few dents out. All good Race Two was a shocker. The front diff let go on the launch so I left two big black marks up the straight and lost 3 positions due to the car not hooking up like it should have. Greg passed in the S15 and so did a lotus exige. Chasing them down was hard but on lap 4 or 5 the same intercooler pipe split again. (I gotta buy you a new pipe now Duncan) Back to the pits with a DNF and back of the grid for the trophy race! A mate just happened to have a silicon pipe in his boot that we made fit. New set of plugs and a quick roll center adjustment. Race three from the back of a 8 car grid and no AWD to help me. Got off the line okay considering. By turn one I was up to 5th position behind the S15, exige, Radical and Debron. There was a mini crash the race before so the circuit was not the greatest. Battling with the Debron proved costly. Tried a few passing moves Duncan had suggested before making a big stab coming into turn two on the inside (wouldn't recommend doing it again) By this time I was a fair distance behind the leaders so catching them was not going to happen. As luck would have it the Exige retired with a vibration so I was placed 3rd in the trophy race. It would have been good to get a clean pass on the Debron and have a good shot at Greg in the S15 but there is always next time. No one was going to beat the radical. Natsoft shows my position as 2nd which is technically correct as greg started a 10th lap infront of the radical but did not finish it. where as I had been lapped and was only going to complete 9 laps. Club racing though and he was infront of me by 50m at the end so he did finish 2nd in our books! Would be good to see a few of the other import cars being built coming out to these events, Its good competition without the stress and pannel rubbing of doing state rounds. There is plenty of well built GTR's and silvia's doing the rounds these days. Entry fee's are cheap. you get a 15min morning session, 2 6 lappers and a 10lap final. Anyone who thinks that sounds easy is kidding themselves. You stuff up one corner and get passed you pay for it dearly. Cant just forget that lap and start another "hot" one next time around. Its a real eye opener and going off the number of guys here who want to do this sort of thing Id challege them to come out and compete, its great fun and the bigger the field the better! Overall we had big oversteering issues and a slight mishap with a tire wall but it is really great fun! I think we managed a 48.1** in the end which I was happy with considering the lack of preperation we did to the car ((still putting it together on the dumby grid) and the lack of slicks Big thanks to JazzyJ for looking after the GTR all day we had plenty to do with very little time between races. you can also pick up second hand 996 cup car calipers very cheaply. I have 997 cup car brakes on my GTR. Initial purchase was fairly cheap, rotors are semi easy to find second hand and adaptors we make ourselves. Problem with them is the pads are so expensive and very limited to pad suppliers. The 996 ones might be better though.

It depends how tall you are wanting to go and why?? The R34 GTR has a 3.55:1. I have a set of 3.9**:1's here but I dont know what they are out of.

Providing it finished of course!

Oh yeah I didn't notice it was a practice session.

http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results....04/2009.WAKE.F2 It would seem the sports sedan lap record has fallen. The wakefield site has been outdated for some time but as far as I was aware the previous lap record was a 57.680 which Ricardello did last year. I beleive thats quicker than an supertaxi has ever circulated as well..

That sounds awfully familair!

To much by the looks of it!! I dont think it'd be that expensive to build Drunkan.

True points Duncan. It would be good to see a proper space frame GTR go head to head with something like the calibra. At the end of the day there is nothing GTR in it besides the engine and perhaps some of the drive line. I really can't see the day when a full floor pan GTR gets down to the min flat mark at wakefield. I think Jeff's GTR with Lofty at the helm will get the closest once its sorted. Its got awesome pace but seems to lack the corner speed of the other cars so far. No doubt they will improve on it though. Despite not being able to race it we should build something and try it. I know of a few "cheap" space frame chassis that are floating around which haven't been run in years. There probably a bit behind in development compared to todays quick cars. You'd have to run a separate front diff which isn't inside the sump though, most of the engine mountings are too far back for drive shafts to line up. Works okay though cause then can make a proper dry sump pan and lower the heavy lump further into the chassis than is possible with a GTR. Suspension/brakes would need a make over in the particular chassis im thinking of. It had Penske shocks and Alcon's previously but not sure whats in it now, I know it rolls though. And its got a hideous Gemini body shell (Duncan would probably know the car im thinking of now) Hmmm food for thought.

I personally dont think a 4wd space farme would be that great. Would be good to try and see it running though. It'd be a rocket when the lights go out but would be carrying alot of extra weight and alot more to go wrong with it as well. The front runners dont really have traction issues, the cars are that well set-up get the power down and get on with the job minimal fuss. I think an AWD would be great off the line but you'd have a severe disadvantage over a 12 lap race.
-
Door to door is messy and probably not a good idea in a really nice clean car. Mines done a few sprints with no damage and two race meets with missing mirrors and tire marks. Thats racing for you though. Actually Duncan MRA is next weekend at oran park.
-
Super TT where the GTR can be very competative allows Rb30 conversions. I proved a few times last year that GTR's are well matched for that category.
-
an existing space frame chassis would be the best place to start if thats your chosen path. You could always do a semi space frame like mine, the cage is very intense and all sheet metal is redundant but left there to keep the rule makers happy. I have considered buying the Prelude with an SR20 and replacing it with my dry sumped RB with holinger RWD only obviously. The biggest issue is modifications to the space frame can become a pain if the 4 cylinder is a tight fit to begin with.

the pumps do one of two things. The crank spins on the inside gear (which is the drive problem) Or the outter and sometimes inner ring breaks Duncan's has fractures in the outter ring and piss poor clearances. Oil testing will tell us more about what happened first. Its not broken but it does have fractures in it which can be seen with crack testing. Realisticly the N1 pump is not up to the job he needs it to do and something better is required. Same goes for the sump extension. It may work just fine the majority of the time but its that one split second where it starves that kills a bearing. Next engine will have oil pressure data logging and an automatic oil system shut down like the one my GTR runs. If pressure drops below a preset value the engine shuts down. There is obviously an instant override incase your in a tricky position and would rather blow and engine than be smashed into. I saved an engine last week at oran park. Went bush and the dry sump belt collected a stick. The belt was thrown off and the engine instantly shut itself down preventing any damage.

The toyota engines use something similar. There is nothing wrong with using a flat drive its worked fine for years. The problem is the pumps themselves
