I forgot about you!! Ill put them aside for you for next time we meet up.
-
Yeah cant afford to stuff around, need it back on the track asap. Sam picked the block up from my place last night and had a poke at the broken bits, sourced all the needed parts yesterday and today, made the bits we wanted to trial then I picked it up on the way home today.
-
Im not sending you no email...... Or do I have too.
-
My bottom end is all assembled again! Ill be chucking a head back on it tomorrow and will be sweet to go again. Block is a little average now and Piston to bores are 1/2 thou over what they were last time but oh well.
-
Heya that kinda resembles my piston but half as bad!!! They were CP's in that engine.

It should easily slip into the 16's with good tires as it was on Sunday. Thats what I was aiming for come the afternoon sessions but its hard with only 3 laps too.. Still coming to grips with the major changes to suspension geometry, Its not as easy as we thought to get it right. We struggled through the last 4 or 5 test days making small changes trying to data log everything possible and not guess what had to be changed but rather know what had to be done. As Duncan would agree its a slow but rewarding process. And we have now found that what works on one circuit is far from correct for another. Weekend before last at wakefield the car was really quick and consistant for the power it had. But same suspension and allignment was rubbish at oran park. According to the work logs I had we made some changes and got it into the 18's but it needed lower spring rates and different bars. The whole time the engine has been kept very tame so I can get the car right first. With the engine on song and a transmission that doesnt reject every gear change Im not sure how quick it will go yet.. If Steve could hear it come onto the straight im sure he would have heard my gearbox crying every shift it had to do. I have some ideas of how quick it will be judging from sector times at wakefield and south circuit. We've done plenty of testing there and had some really fast and some really slow laps. New tires will be fitted for the next outing though.

Gunmetal Grey in colour R32 GTR Has one tiny ding which is only visable with a fluro light shining over it at a certain angle. Other wise perfect condition. Ding is really really small and not visable under normal light. Asking $300 firm pick up locally in Sydney

Thanks Ando. It should have been significantly quicker according to the AIM data logger but we didnt really get to have a good go at it. There's always next time though. Are you coming down to wakefield with us in two weeks?? I bought the DVD from our photographer. If you didnt I can get Jess to email any good ones to you.

There was EVO's galore on Sunday...... I think I told you that already but... -
Thanks Andrew. Ill shoot you a PM regarding cams etc...
-
Thanks John..... Sounds like it will be a good day.

Have one for sale and may be able to supply minus turbos. PM me an offer

Na the piston didnt do any damage other than to itself really. We have checked the valves and head. There is a few cosmetic marks on the squish bands but nothing that wont clean up with a surface grind. Small mark on the bore which is a deposit not a score so it will be lightly honed and reused. Pistons will be done tommorrow, set of rings, bearings and gaskets will see it back in action. Sam was here tonight checking everything else out engine wise and the injectors are being tested tomorrow as well. Ill use this engine again for a few meetings and re-block it when we have a 3 week break and I have another block preped ready to go. The turbos are more so damaged due to the lack of air filters and dusty circuits we race on. Its something i've been trying to get sorted but driving the car has become priority over making up and intake, kinda backwards really but oh well.... Best photo I currently have, there is about 80%of the top ring land gone and its burnt all the way down the skirt.
-
Ill put photos of the piston up tommorrow. There at the machinists but ill get them back tommorrow with all the other stuff. That turbo is fairly rooted! Ive also been through a fair few turbos and my current ones are pretty average too.
-
Yeah Chris next round is south circuit nut I have a few days on in between that. Ill have the block and all the parts back tommorrow night and will assemble it wednesday night again.
-
Yeah Warren can steer that EVO. That comodore is actually an old VH!! Mine was making stuff all power. It was running 1.1 bar all morning. I was planning to use the engine properly in the afternoon sessions but it didnt happen. It would have been around 150Kw or so short of its potential in the morning. and undeersteering like a bitch. (you know the problem I have with that atm) It'll be fixed by next weekend Duncan. Its all out and stripped in the garage now. The 15 has always been reliable. Mainly because its very very basic, virtually stock with a big turbo. He keeps the revs low and it lasts.
-
Yeah I only did 10 laps in total. Really annoying as it had good pace in the morning, with more to come. There's always next weekend.... Ill get another set of slugs and have it back together and running by saturday night. Just need to find the cause, so far all the data is showing everything to be reasonable. But number 3 EGT is slightly higher than the others which is also the piston it melted.
-
Was a good day today Chris. I managed to destroy an engine after lunch. Didnt spin bearings this time but instead melted a piston just for something different. Looking like an injector problem. Its all out and stripped now will get a new set of pistons tommorrow and throw it back together ready for wakefield. Looking at the times from today Greg and I both did our quickest time during our little race in the 3rd session lap 10. Which is kinda annoying as my car had more in it once the tires and brakes were settled. We needed one more flying lap per session.
-
I have added 3 pistons to my list today... Started to breath into the dry sump tank heavily and once we stripped it down found 2,4 and 6 have melted away the ring lands Not sure of the cause yet but will be checking injectors etc before blaming anything else.

No you cant have a 50/50 split. It WILL destory front diff's transfer cases and so forth. Been there done that as have many others in the past. You cant run a variance line that.

Have a few michelin slicks I want to get rid of rather than throw away. They are similar to the porka cup tires but used in the GT series. a few sizes 27/60R18 and 30/60R18's from memory. They are fairly close to the limiters but will probably do another practice day or two. Only reason for sale is they are not good enough to race on anymore and I have new ones to use. Can organise photos but rather pick up and take away from sydney Asking $80 a pair. Have 3 pairs maybe more.

Have you got a spare one all built and ready to go for superlap??

They were using R888's which were proving to be a bit unwilling. -
Duncan I wont be out at the first round, we have a private day at wakefield on the saturday which Ill attend, but I will be doing a fair few selected rounds during the year. Including a meeting at Bathurst over Easter with some luck.. Got my eyes set on Oran park. I have a few little things to get the car up to scratch yet. I also want to have a crack at a couple of Super TT rounds as well. Ill be there on Sunday to check on Rambow's combined touring car and a few others Ive been helping out over the off season. Alot of the saloon car guys have sold there falcodores and not replaced them as yet!! Old Guss (combined touring tech) has bought himself a weapon commodore but I dont think he'll be out first round either. IPRA should be good this year. Lofty in the starlet if he runs it Loscialpo's VY is really quick. Bucton's dunnydore is pretty quick too from what Ive seen at oran park. Not to mention all the rotors that are always good to watch Last I spoke to John (bout an hour ago) he was doing other things this year and wont have much spare time to do anything! And I beleive the old IPRA car still has "Boston" on the quarter windows and is sleeping. So tempting to buy it still...... I wont be missing the day nighter for anything this year and hopefully the same for a few enduros latter in the year.

Auther at JEM would be able to fix the autronic. His fixed similar problems with Haltechs and power FC's for me many times. Id think you already have a fair idea of what you do and dont need.
