What is peak torque on that run?? 600Nm?? Thats only 440 odd ft pound if im not mistaken?? Mine takes 1.5bar to make 452Kw. Still a 2.6 with GTRS and everything else. From memory it just cracks a tonne (Nm) at roughly 1.2bar and tad over 1300 with 1.5bar I do like the 3L but I have to retain the original block/ capacity so 2.6 is my only option.

very nice ben! About time its arrived (or something close enough) I still owe you that drive of your old GTR too!

Thanks Roy. The bolts are big oval headed bolts with nuts on the inside of the hat. My new calipers are on the way so I do want thess gone now...

Im not sure if power is to blame Duncan. We've actually taken a power reduction of sorts trying to gain alot more midrange. Which could also have killed it. That gear set did over 2 years worth of racing and who knows how much before that. I think it was our tinkering with the ATTESSA controller (Haltech E11v2) which killed it. Plus the massive slicks would not have helped.

You owned one of then ben and its still breaking.... I remember that clutch, was pretty funny weekend. Ill have to upload them latter and send them to you steve. I found a few better ones of the inside as well. I have a cardboard box full of bearings that we used to pull out after 10,000K's just to be on the safe side. Its amusing the parts we keep that have broken. I still have my broken oil pump and crank somewhere. A few destroyed rods and blocks. multiple gearboxes with holes in them and now front diffs.
-
Thanks Chris. We weren't expecting to find a lunched pinion but thats the result! I agree. Should be a few nasty items people have broken floating around
-
Hahah thats right ben I forgot about this cars untimely habit of destroying running gear!! That crown wheel and pinion came from my old GTR so its gotta be the cars fault. Evocoop I agree but it is fun to look at other peoples desruction. If nothing else it makes me feel better knowing im not the only one. Ill post photos of my smashed JUN oil pump and snapped crank shaft latter thats worth a look see. Kinda resembles your bottom end! Just wait till Duncan makes a showing with his trail if destruction

Since these things (GTR's) seem to spend more time off the circuit than on it we should have a thread to show off your carnage! Heres my first effort for the new car. happened at eastern creek today in the wet but think it was partially damaged from oran park testing a few weeks back. Front wheels were not driving very well after it let go completly.

26 Oil Pump Solution Thread... [database]
Risking replied to Tomek's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
The lattest nitto pumps seem to be standing up to the job as of late. Having much better results with them compared to the JUN offerings. I personally would never use an integral crank driven pump again but for a streeter you are kinda limited. If you have to use an integral pump on a circuit car thats going to be abused then use a sensible sized sump as well. For a lowish RPM sensibly driven circuit car an N1 pump would work fine but there is better. If your going to do any form of circuit work with it and want it done properly then use an external system. Its still not fool proof as far as oil surge goes but if the sump is built well enough it will be as good as you'll get without a dry sump. -

Duncan you have to come and have a drive of it to really appreciate the suspension. Doesnt feel like a GTR one little bit. It did have some really weird mid to late corner pushing from the front end but I have a feeling thats due to the front tires being a little low on pressure. (28psi) It had severe over steer on power at the exits when it came straight off the trailer but after a few dampner changes and a sway bar adjustment that was corrected. The car is so composed under brakes compared to every other GTR I have ever driven. It turns in and straightens out perfectly. But the real test will be when I increase the corner speeds with new slicks in the next week or so. We ended up with an AIM MXL pro data logger/dash for the car too. Countless hours of callibrating suspension sensors and potentiometers ahead!! I want the GPS and G sensors working mainly so I can log corner speeds vrs g forces and compare to another GTR I know of with less extavagant suspension but an outright track speed which is probably higher.

Roy has told me all about the front bar on the GTR and the problems they have encountered with it. They had a cut up bumper support behind it which flexed to the point where the front of the car was dragging along the track. From the data logs the front of the car actually drops by 50mm when the car reachs top speed around GP. I cant remember how much the rear dropped but it was not quiet as much. Obviously it creates massive drag which is something the guys are working on as well. watching the car come down the straight and into turn one is phenominal.

we just got back from oran park. First time out with the new car finally. We used the shittiest michelins I had around the side of the house and used about 1 bar boost. So about 300kw perhaps Managed an average of 48.68 and a best of 47.64 around the south circuit. Not to shabby for something that has only been set-up in the garage and never even driven till today. Now have a few minor issues to sort out like no 4wd, dry sump breather tank and the need for much better rubber.
