  1. you have to have it log booked with cams and from memory (duncan will correct me if im wrong) need to have a cams NC licence to hold race/rally rego in NSW. Providing there is a CAMS permit for the event and the car is road worthy then you can use the vehicle.
  2. reply sent days ago....
  3. No I dont belevie in specific flow charts for specific cars. They should be seen as a guide and nothing more. Each to their own when it comes to sorting a car out. I agree there is a criteria that people should follow when buying/upgrading parts. What you need is fairly set in stone much like engine modifications. However there is always a small minority that wont suit the general outlines. And when it comes to tuning the said parts it has to come back to the driver about any flow chart. I know people who hire better drivers than themselves to steer the car and give input, I know people who strictly follow flow charts like that you posted, Personally, I occasoinally refer to charts but most of the time the order in which I adjust is predetermined by my own oppinion (which since im the driver is by far the most important) I can be wrong and the car can go backwards but everything I do is logged and from mistakes I gain experiance. Sound so oddly like something Gary once said to me..... He has set ways for a reason. They work. You are correct the new colour of the selby bars is so much better than the canary yellow of the past too!
  4. What exactly are you trying to prove?? There are many different ways to sort suspension, this is obviously one way that one tunning shop uses. I have several flow sheets similar to that with multiple different orders of importance. Doesnt mean one is right or wrong.
  5. Want to part with the rotors only?? I have a set of callipers but need hats.
  6. They do but they dont. It depends how you treat the car and what your luck is like!! I had a good season in my old car last year. It suffered an engine and box failure after it was stolen and recovered but that was to be expected. Latter in the year it smashed an oil pump but again it was kinda expected with such a stressed engine. The datto you have there is a pretty quick car.
  7. Running a GTR in the production car category just for some fun doesn't have to be expensive. A set of tires will last him 3-4 rounds (they will be dead by that time) The control tire is/was the A048 which would probably last longer if using the hard compound. Pads every 4-5 rounds depending what he chooses. General maintance is not that bad if you drive respectfully. For the MRA rounds here they have deliberatly kept the circuit speeds lowish and track capacity is realativly small compared to state rounds. A half Cage is all the AASA require to run in these events so that what alot of people use. I agree that a full cage is much better but the governing body has decided otherwise so it can be assessable by budget racers.
  8. it is probably a tad on the nice side to go racing with. Thats really the only reason I have gone to a race only GTR. The old car was a good car that could be registeered and was good the way it was. The new car despite looking better is not really registerable and I dont mind banging it up. If you buy a race only import thats the best way to go. Regardless of what type of racing you choose there is risks of accidents and driving home after the event could be difficult. If your serious about getting into it head to wakefield park next sunday and check out the MRA series. They are running a combined sedans class (yes skylines can compete) There are no rules but overly quick cars are frowned upon. Its cheap and very basic requirements make it easy to get into for entry level competators. Half cage with AASA log book, normal driver protection but a proper suit is mandatory. Thats about the only real requirements that you'd need above normal supersprint stuff. It can be very close racing at times but there is rarely body damage and everyone there is soley there for fun. I won a round or two last year and may be doing a few in the sports cars category latter in the year with them.
  9. Dont go all out on it and compete in Super TT class at the AMRS rounds.. Fairly relaxed rules and reasonable well run events. You'll get your arse handed to you by a few big dollar cars but if you gauge yourself against cars in your playing field then you'll get a good idea of where you stand. If you want to run at state CAMS events then you really have no choice than production cars (GTS-t) is a poor choice, IPRA (even a worse choice) or sports sedans (even even worse choice) If thats your aim then id advise parting with the car now and if you must stay loyal to the skyline then buy a production car GTR same as Duncan runs. Its affordable and you can be competative for smalish outlays. Other wise buy an RX7 or similar and run IPRA but be prepared to spend more. The BSM GTR is still floating around and is a very good buy for the time/money its had spent on it.
  10. Duncan I have been told PP is on at oran park south on the 26th (australia day) If this is the case (can get on the circuit that day ) you bringing the production car out for a burn?? Will be the first outing for my car and I've decided it wont be coming home till its laid down something in the 45's

  15. race brakes in Sydney should be able to help you out with the hats and pads.
  16. Thanks for the exhaust Eugene! Will go to good use thats for sure Let me know the condition and price of that fuel rail when it arrives mate. Nismo braces for a 34??
  17. I agree with you about heasmans. Nick has been around open wheelers a fair bit so should be able to steer you in the right direction with the radical. But what he has learn has also come from east coast who are also very good. Comes down to which place you get the better vibe from I guess. I should see garry tommorrow or at least talk with him.
  18. his is also broken and needing parts same as this guys box.... Charlie has ended up buying a second hand box from Japan that has different broken parts so we can repair his one.
  19. Racetige is owned and opperated by Nick who used to work for Dave at East coast suspension. He is very good at what he does and has a good turn around time. East coast are also very good at what they do but very pricey for the same service (yes Ive used both) Heasmans are good but for what Neil wants they are not the best place to go to I don't think. Garry is a very hard man to catch now days Neil but I will be seeing him shortly if you dont get in contact. Do you know how you want the car weighted Neil and what allignment/ geometry your after?? I have a set of scales (proper ones) and bump steer guages if you want to have a go yourself.
  20. Yeah it did come out well Duncan. I had it on the alligner back at Bob jane tonight to tidy up a few things after the Major bump steer set-up was done. Im extremely happy with it but will shortly trying something different again. I ultimately want single spindle hubs with center nuts and the only feasable way is to re-do some of the arms again. Im still not certain that it will all work seamlessly with the rest of the car yet but ill post up some photos once I know it all works together. There may be some issues with the rear lower control arms and sway bar mountings. Im trying to make the bars adjustable from inside the cabin using some ex super car style slide adjusters I have picked up but its proving difficult to design a system that wont foul on the sub frame we have and still keep a vertical sway bar link. Next thing to do will be a new chromolly subframe for the front with additional mounting points for the upper and lower arms. Ill do that once I know the current set-up works and its worth spending the time and material doing so. Biggest advantage will be the entire lowering of the engine into the sub frame as well. Think I will end up with one of those loggers/monitors too. Round one is coming up and its looking like I may be ready to enter as well, Providing I can get my NC back before then...
  21. oh shit another one down.... externals are the way.
  22. Your not saying that cause of my slight little JUN oil pump failure are you mate... I had a JUN pump and it cost me a very expensive engine when it broke into 5 bits on oran parks main straight. The bearings are still stuck on the crank and the journals are bent to the point where you can see if with a naked eye 6 stage dry sump is now being used touches 9,800rpm plus frequently and never has an issue. Stupid crank driven oil pumps.
  23. nothing wrong with the older models.
  24. good to hear you have one Paul. What make/model did you get??
