  1. Ive had 300 wide slicks on my GTR front and rear without any issues other then inner guards.
  2. I got bored...... Premium sports package actually. On a serious side, a daily driver/run around is probably the best way to avoid defects full stop. I know its not feasable for alot of people but even to buy a $500 shitter and run it into the ground can save you a lot more in the long run should you get fined.
  3. No from what he explained they can see when/where etc but not the actual items you have been defected for. I guess it would be a faily laborious task for someone to list and attatch every defect item to a particular vehicle so they just list the defect notice number. He knew exactly what he did me for anyhow, If I remember rightly I was filling the car up when he pulled in behind. That time I was sent to the DECC inspection station on waminda avenue or what ever its called but ended up getting it all sorted. Last time was the EPA and DECC which was not hard to sort out either. You dont have to be with the vehicle either, and if they ask you to open the bonnet or the car just do it. Your only going to get a letter in the mail saying you have been requested to present the vehicle for a randon full RTA and EPA inspection at one of the relevant RTA's That is not a defect its mearly a f**k you get the car inspected cause we know its illegal, and if it doesnt pass your rego is now canned. Yes I've been there and done that before as well. An old neihbour complained I got a letter, Car was parked I was not around it, week latter I got a letter. You can be defected in a car park or private property IF the police have proof the vehicle was driven to that particular destination via public roads in the condition they found it in. Again, I got done in my driveway. They had me on video driving the car up the road and parking it, then they also had the entire defect process on tape. How can I argue I didnt drive it with a loud exhaust when they have me driving it on the road on video? More recently I had the car running with the side pipes fitted, full slicks etc etc. New neihbour complained and the cops arrived. It was in my drive way and during the day, the neihbour was questioned had I driven the vehicle on the road like this? He obviously told the truth and said no just that it was very noisy and had been running in the driveway for a while, they got the same story from me and the police could not touch the vehicle even though it has full registration.
  4. On topic, as far as im aware the police can't view the details of your prior defects but can check the rego and see everything else. I was told this by my "mate" a week ago who keeps defecting my car. Actually thinking back you had the pleasure of meeting him in the caltex servo once or twice corinne.
  5. The front half is always and has always been illegal. Be it through the dash (in my case) or around the dash (like jap bolt in kits) The rear half just needs to comply. Seat/s removed, any restraints including child restraints removed, the upper most support must not protrude forward of the front seats head rests (cant be any way to wack your head on the hoop) Mountings must not fowl original structure etc etc. We engineer cages almost every day so the rules are pretty clear cut according to the RTA but not to the police. Which is a shame...... Same can really be said about aftermarket seats.
  6. Whats with being a bitch???? There is appropriate materials around to do such a job with, temporary or permanant. I do however agree that most people dont learn from the first experiance (myself included) But apparently my welded in full cage with intrusion bars is legal if its got thin padding....... Yet from a legal point the entire front half is illegal and the rear must comply with several rules. Honestly the rules are a joke (yes I deal with the rules daily) and if you talk to anyone else who deals with them they will all agree unless they are a tree hugger or RTA inspector. Engineers reports themselves are bordering on a joke but worth while having for the majority of modifications. All the ADR's can be purchased annually on disc and the appropriate suplimentries are sent to you as they are released. There is no rules that mention Pod filters directly. There are ADR's that relate to inlet tracts etc which obviously your pod must comply to. Same goes for exhaust systems, ring hitech mufflers and ask them about the extensive testing it takes to meet ALL ADR's and it will become very clear why just about anything other than standard is illegal.
  7. Yeh I ran as well. It was a sucessful day more so than a fast day. I was happy with doing flat 50's. Cruchy gearbox was holding it back but will be sorted out in due time. It wont shift gears till you let the revs drop back below 4 grand so there is alot of time in the car once its fixed. Was talking to geoff today who was flagging the main straight. He could hear it cruch every lap into 3rd and 4th. John Bright's car is pretty awesome, Its a purpose built car, was the quickest thing at eastern creek a few weeks back as well. Greg was shreading rear tires all day long and had massive traction issues, turned out the rear proflex shocks had seen better days and were the cause of his troubles.
  8. Phil used to play hockey too, was in the national team from memory. Jeff still want brakes?? Negotiable cause I need to spend more money....
  9. you heading back out this weekend Duncan?? Ive got a bit of suspension work to do, and were probably going to have few of the combined touring falcons out there as well. Oran was good on the weekend. Kept the GTR in on piece and was happy with the times considering the lack of power.
  10. I want the 18's..would you freight them to Sydney? $360 plus freight??
  11. Im looking for a pair of 18 by atleast 9.5's to suit a 5 stud nissan. Im not fussed about offsets ill beat guards or run spacers to make them fit as long as the rim is wide enough. I only need a pair but will take what ever I can get really. Sydney prefered.
  12. one way valve is probably faulty in the line that runs from the booster to the engine.
  13. was a really good event and extremely well driven by Duncan! Damn shame about the clutch but there's always next time! There appears to be sparks coming those photos......
  14. has anyone used the Bendix SRT's (street road track) Thinking about trying them just to see but curious to hear others impression if possible.
  15. seems half the admins in here are the being the biggest dick heads about it! If its fake who gives a rats arse, let him have his car and be proud of it. Does it hurt your big dollar cars that you've paid other people to build?? I think not. Seems there is only ever hatred and egos amoung people that should be leading by example!!!
  16. Its run by the Alfa club this time around Duncan, Steve the event filled up a while ago and there is now a reserve list. Chris your best off contacting someone (ie greg) before giving your spot to Duncan as there is an official reserve list. HP wont be an issue for Jess this weekend, she's using my car again.
  17. apparently there was a bit of controversy in the showroom 4wd (evo class) duncan.....
  18. I would have rathered an EVO but the GTR made do. Next weekend there is also a sprint at eastern creek. Day night meeting is the weekend after.
  19. 45.8 is bloody quick considering the conditions. Yesterday was drier than today but still very impressive. I was driving those V8 buggies out there yesterday, awesome fun but was more at home on the tarmac today.
  20. well today was a little tricky out there!! It was puddles all over the place. Would have been faster if you had a hull and a rudder instead of a chassis and wheels
  21. if its just a daily driver I think its a waste of money going with the longer arms etc. you'd be far better off getting the Sydneykid whiteline kit and being done with it. The bushes being noisy is more then likely due to insufficent lubricating when the were installed. Jess' GTR has the full nismo suspension arm kit and honestly it makes little to no differance on the road or the track. Money could be spent so much better in other areas, particularly on a road car.
  22. Sounds fair to me. See you at oran park tommorrow Jay. If ive got room to spare ill bring extra rims/tires for you
  23. Do you still have the dry sump drive to go with this?? I think it was you who was selling it not long ago??
  24. Obviously this is a saturday, Sunday engine will be going back into Jess' GTR assistance is welcome (you lot know who you are )
  25. looking like your coming out Duncan?? Matty Newman and Adam Huges are bringing their salon cars out as well.
