I might be +2.

Yeah i think it could be a fuel pump as well. I just ran diagnostics and the only code i got was 54 (auto signal) but the auto is long gone so that makes sense. I'll try the plugs because they're due to be changed anyway and if that doesn't work i might get the pump tested. I think i saw some cheap 040's for sale!
-
I haven't tried that yet. The thought has crossed my mind a couple of times. Might try it after work today.
-
At the moment i think the most likely cause is spark plugs. I might grab a set tomorrow and see if that helps out at all.

Thank you for the most useful answer i have ever received on these forums. You really deserve an award and i'm proud to be part of a forum with members like you! Yes it's an RB20, no the flat spot is not a lack of torque. The flat spot i refer to is something causing the engine to not perform to 100% of its ability at that particular point in the rev range, whether it be due to lack of spark, excess of fuel or something else! I didn't know a lack of torque could cause that! The reason i asked was to get an answer that would help me fix my problem, not a smart ass answer that doesn't get me anywhere!

I've done a search and found a lot of results for flat spots but most of them related to RB25s. At about 5000rpm my car seems to hit a huge flat spot, seems to get stuck there and doesn't want to rev any more. Mods are FMIC, Blitz panel filter, R33 Turbo, 3" turbo back, splitfire coil packs, remapped chip and 12psi boost. Spark plugs are BCPR6ES 0.8mm gap. The only things i can come up with is the ecu might be going into a rich and retard mode similar to the RB25 ecu does or the spark plugs might need replacing. They've been in there for around 10,000kms now. Also could i have reached the limit of fuel pump (stock and original as far as i know), afm, injectors or something like that? Also checked knock sensor plugs and they're fine. Cold nights it's particularly bad. Once or twice in 1st gear its almost sounded/felt like a rev limiter at 5000rpm.

I'm keen. Figure out dates ASAP so i can organise the day off work though!

I can understand exactly how you feel man. A very similar thing happened to me once. I wasn't so lucky and ended up veering sideways across a medium strip at 110. I still beleive i was so lucky there was nothing coming the other way. Curse those cheap rear tyres! This dude in the VW will get what he deserves some day.

Myself and NathR32 may pay a visit and catch up/meet some of you guys. If someone could PM me the addy that would be good!

You can't go wrong with the BCPR6ES plugs. I had a set of splitfire plugs in mine which cost around the $20 a plug mark. They lasted all of 3 weeks before they started missing. Then the car sat for 2 weeks in the spray shop and i went to pick it up and it wouldn't start! A trip down to Autobarn and 6 x BCPR6ES later and they haven't missed a beat. This was in October last year as well so they're probably due for a change!

I filled it up just then when i was checking it. No foam or anything around radiator cap. Car doesn't overheat. Temperature gauge normally reads halfway or slightly above. However the car did over heat on a trip back from Sydney a few weeks ago and it overheated once last year when i got a crack in one of those tiny water lines under the inlet manifold that was impossible to find!
-
Howdy all. Just doing a routine check around the engine bay of my R32 (RB20). I decided to check the cooling system for air so i was running the car with the bleed screw on the inlet manifold removed. Basically the coolant that was coming out of this hole was very very foamy. I checked the coolant in the radiator and its not oily at all. Is this a sign that i've done my head gasket?

But he has an R32 GTST??

Another quality post buddy. Yes nengun have them for around $1300 but no... that isn't D-Jetro.

I'm in for sure.

Tired Engine. How Much Difference Can It Make?
Psymon replied to Psymon's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
So the extra timing from the auto ecu isn't really an advantage for me? May explain why the ecu is going into RR mode toward the top of the rev range. -
My shoe just fits under it. It looks awesome but it takes a bit of getting used to being that low. Also limits driving into a lot of places. Also 600x300 IC only just fits the huge front air dam!

Tired Engine. How Much Difference Can It Make?
Psymon replied to Psymon's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Nah i didn't read into it too much. Just got me thinking and i thought i'd start a discussion about it! 10-20kw is still a sizeable chunk of power! -
Thats an awesome result. Must be a relatively fresh engine. My question is how much difference in power output could there be between a fresh engine and an engine thats starting to get tired? In fact i started a thread about it! http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=138087

Browsing the forums this evening i came across this thread which got me thinking. How much difference in power output does a tired engine make? The thread i linked to above shows r32matt's awesome dyno result from relatively simple mods. Obviously his AFR's aren't overly rich as is common with modded Skyline's running a standard ecu which would have helped a lot with his good result. However a couple of people mentioned a fresh/good condition engine could have been a contributing factor. I too have a 32 with an RB20 in it with very similar mods. Mine has a 3" turbo back exhaust and has had the standard ecu remapped. Also it is an auto ecu which should add some extra bottom end due to some extra base timing. I have never had it dyno'd but it doesn't feel like it would be anywhere near that power figure. Even with the ecu re-map it is still running very rich and an SAFC is next on my to do list but i still don't think this will get me to the 190rwkw mark. The car is a 91 model and as far as i know is the original engine. I know for a fact that myself and the previous owner have taken good care of this engine but i'm starting to think that its getting a bit tired. So just how much difference could there be between a freshly built engine (to standard specs, compression etc.) and one thats got a few years under its belt (not a complete shitter engine that burns oil and sounds like a diesel ). Hi all, a bit of a n00b question here! I'm currently in the market for new coilovers for my R32 and i've had more than one person tell me that R33 GTST coilovers will fit the R32 no problems. To complicate things however, i have also had more than one person, and I myself was under the impression that this was not the case? Can anyone clarify this for me? Cheers, Simon.

Might come out for a little bit.

After some coilover... can't really afford new ones... so i'm wondering if anyone on here has some or knows of some second handies in good condition they are looking to get rid of? Height adjustment is a must and damper adjustment would be good. Cheers Simon

That one isn't a GTR. Has a GTR badge though
