  1. I C Bluprint again haha The maroon R32 is Nath's, works at Autobarn.
  2. #)(#(%) I hate posts like this. Go to a mechanic. I'm on another forum where a dude posts "I've got this pain in my chest, what should I do?!?!" I think Darwinism should have taken it's course there but someone told him the appropriate party to visit
  3. This crossed my mind a few times. Just bare in mind that once you've bought that 50K car, think of the mods you've done/planned to do to the R33, and then times 1.5 (or even 2x) and realise that you'll want to spend that EXTRA money on the GTR. That's the deal breaker for me. That, and my knees are already at risk from my current loan hahah
  4. Nice. I've got a GTRS going in very soon Hoping for about the same power.
  5. I'm mostly doing it to get better air feed, the looks are secondary because I'm in Canberra where ppl do whatever (unlike Vic). If it looks stockish, that's a bonus. And I'll be attempting to make it look stock because if I can make more than one, maybe others will be interested. It's only going to be 10-15cm bigger than the stock one, I'm gonna find some simulation CFD software and mess about with flow. Besides, I have a FMIC which reuses the stock piping, so I can't run a CAI into the bumper.
  6. Yeah that would be more the go, but people put a LOT of time and money into designing the forward facing ones - I think most places would say it's not worth it if you can get a properly designed forward facing one. The whole "it's not worth it, just do what's been proven to work" element has stopped a few paths I might have gone down. You've gotta talk to some of the knowledgeable ppl on here and see what they think (don't consider myself one of them!) EG, I didn't know about the 120 degree bend pipe setup until I really looked into this. I went the Blitz style simply cos it's got the least extra piping of the lot, ignoring forward facing plenums which involve more work (and money I don't have right now).
  7. haha not really.. that part of the plenum is cast And some ppl have dodged up the stock plenum by blocking off the usual inlet and moving it to the front, but most agree this is a bad idea cos the flow inside the plenum isn't designed to work this way. Cyl's get different mixtures
  8. Cool. Interested to know how it goes. I'm getting 5 (Blitz LM) put in within the next fortnight, but also a lot of other stuff (replacing broken turbo with an upgrade) so not going to be any use WRT comparisons
  9. Never mind, turns out they have the all in one kit after all. Mods kill this pls!
  10. Got a second full airbox and second snorkel on the way. Should be enough to build a new expanded snorkel/box. Does anyone know the name of an air/fluid flow simulator (preferably 3D)? Free or not, online or a stand alone application, doesn't matter.
  11. Nice new wheels Living in a caravan sucks... Did it for 2 years while we worked on our house :| Our dunny was a porta-loo in a cubby house made or rotting wood. I still check the underside of the dunny seat for spiders out of habit no matter where I am *traumatised* lol
  12. Gotcha. One spare snorkel is on the way. PMed someone about a spare box. I meant to go check if plastic plumbing pipe is made of <PP> like the airbox stuff ("SAE <PP> T-40" = Polypropylene), to see if I could use it to do the extensions and also as the 'solder', but I forgot. Don't care so much about colour cos it'll be used to make a mold and hopefully make it all from fibreglass later.
  13. Anyone think a soldering iron with digital control which can go up to ~300 deg C would do the job of a plastic welder? And anyone think that plastic plumbing pipe would work to make an airbox? If not, maybe I'll just make a mold using it. What I'm really after is a material easy enough to work with that I can easily make a mold out of, or cheap and sturdy enough that I can actually make a permanent airbox out from. Gonna go look at Bunnings etc this morning.
  14. I'm in there... it's lonely haha
  15. OK, well after about 3 hours of bvggering about with cardboard and getting nowhere, I've come to the conclusion that it's probably easier to get hold of a spare airbox and snorkel and modify them, if only to come up with a mold to make fibreglass copies.
  16. Hi guys/gals. I've got an R33 with an optima yellow top battery. Due to a bvggered turbo, the car has been sitting there for about 1.5 months. I thought it would be ok to leave a deep cycle battery that long between starts but obviously not. I got my brother to try and give me a jump start but when I tried starting the car, all I heard was a really fast and loud "ticka-ticka-ticka" sound and it wouldn't start. I think that was the Mongoose alarm chuckin' a spaz. A tow truck is coming next week to pick up the car and take it to the mechanic to be fixed, but I'll need the battery alive so I can start the car and drive it up onto his truck (the car can move short distances but the mechanic said to rev it as little as possible when moving it around, so I can't take it for a proper drive like you normally do after a jump start). So, two questions: 1) Is there any chance my battery is completely dead? Hope not... it was fr1gg1n expensive!! Can optimas be run so flat that they are useless? or are they harder to kill? 2) How the heck do I get the battery alive enough to drive it onto the tow truck when it arrives, without having to ring the NRMA and wait around for them (and the tow truck possibly arrive before the NRMA).
  17. 33! Waiting for 5pm to come! It's sooo slooooowww... what are you up to? PS you've been there a mite longer than 1hr??
  18. Yeah one of the guys that works there owns it, I believe he's trying to sell it. It's got a high flo in it. I think his gf also has a white 33.
  19. Red and grey R31 with blue plates on Allara Street right now... looking out the office window! Whose that?
  20. Ummm, you answered yourself: In his defense I'm pretty sure that I had a partially blocked exhaust system when he tuned it If the blockage showed up AFTER the fact then fine, but if there's a major blockage while tuning, I reckon it should have been noticed.
  21. Woah... You're tune must have been cutting it close WRT fuel supply? I sort of expect the engine should have room to move (supply more fuel) if a mod like this is done to supply (what probably isn't a whole lot) more air, and to supply the extra fuel needed. Hmmm. I guess it would depend on how much room there is in the tune and how much more the fuel pump and injectors can give.
