  1. My mechanic says that the Nismo and HKS injectors fire a finer mist than say Sard or some of the others, so the fuel gets burnt more effectively. No evidence/backup though.
  2. Bought a turbo from them. Great service!

  3. Read my original post ACTIVE32. Thanks anyway. heheheh Geoff I'd be worried about the filter getting soaked when it p1sses down.. Mine's a daily driver. One thing that came up yesterday - my mechanic said if I'm going to experiment with modifying the top half of the airbox and the snorkel, I don't need to get it retuned or anything afterwards. I asked cos I'm getting a new turbo (HKS GTRS) and all the other bits at once and want it all perfect. If I muck about after the tune, will it be like when you add a better exhaust and don't do anything to the ECU - it'll adjust automatically to make use of the better flow (by extrapolation with load point data and using the AFM I guess)? Adz, I found the pics here: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Ai...gtrgeoff+filter post #14.
  4. @ Ed: I wouldn't exactly call a partly blocked system 'in his defense'... he should have seen it and fixed it when it came up short of power or was misbehaving. Bullet, talk to race_snooze if you haven't already. He had good work done. John will be installing my new turbo and all the surrounding bits hopefully in the next coupla weeks.
  5. Cool geoff. I think I saw a picture of that. Changing the filter must be a hassle though? So far I'm just thinking of modifying the top section of the airbox and the snorkel. Also... I'm not keen on having the air filter so low to the ground. I'm in Canberra lol In Brissie and on a race car I'm sure it's fine though!
  6. Will do! Mate says it'll take a few days. But from previous reading, I think the GTR intake is better than the GTST... It's larger. In fact, I think the intake I end up with could look very similar to the stock GTR one. Anyway, we'll see.
  7. I also spoke to a (/the) dude that was going to do that a while ago From memory, he ended up going pod lol That's pretty much what I'd like to do though. I just realised a mate has done fibreglass work for audio installs - going to see if he can make something. And yeah: I want it looking like stock. Matt black and boring!
  8. White Stagea near BP in Civic that I see in that area a lot. White R33 in front of DOTARS a day or so ago, munted front bar/lip
  9. hehe @ edit: yeah I've read on the subject, so ruled out those options... "pvc or flexi pipe) to the outside" flexi pipe won't be as solid as I'm after, seeing as I'm replacing my AFM > turbo pipe with metal to prevent it sucking closed... not sure what you mean by 'the outside'.. what I want to do would all be in the area the current airbox/snorkel-feed is.
  10. I want to keep my stock airbox and I'm keen to replace the top half of my R33 GTST's airbox and the scoop / funnel / snorkel type thing that feeds it from the front of the engine bay with something made of the same material but larger. I'm getting a side fed (Blitz LM or similar) FMIC, so space/placement isn't a problem. I've seen direct replacements for other cars which literally just widen/open up the mouth that feeds the top of the airbox so you get more air. If I can't find an off the shelf product (haven't seen one yet), I might have to buy someone's spare and try changing it into the shape I want (although I dunno how I'd do that, and I'd need spare plastic to do it cos the end result would be larger than stock). I'll have a solid metal pipe from AFM > turbo, so no worries about that sucking closed. I've seen the Blitz airbox cover replacement thing and it's not what I'm after, it takes air from inside the engine, unless you create some kind of extra air guide which would have to mate up with the underside of the bonnet. The ARC induction kit is also not what I'm after for a similar reason. I also don't mean the ones which replace you're airbox-side headlight, or sit in the gap between your headlights. BTW, I have a stock bonnet and don't intend to cut into it. I'm not really worried about appearance, mostly concerned about only taking air from the same region the stock box does, and increasing that area. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. I'd also welcome recommendations of fabrication places that can (better yet, already HAVE) manufactured the kind of thing I'm talking about, and can be sure it would fit etc.
  11. Guys/gals, just after a spare top half of an R33 GTST airbox, as well as the snorkel/air guide that feeds into it (from the front of the car/bonnet). Gonna try modifying mine but don't want to be left in a jam if/when I munt it haha PS, anyone know where I can buy more of the material these parts are actually made of, and someone who plastic welds? Make me an offer for yours... anyone whose gone the pod route would have one lying around. Cheers, Ben. 0404 896 713
  12. I want to keep my intake similar to the stock setup (ie enclosed, fed from the front of the engine bay) but I don't want a pod. I hate the noise, and want to avoid the legal ramifications. I've seen some made for V8/LS1 engines which look like I want.. big wide open mouth taking up as much space as possible where the bonnet meets the chassis, kinda like the stock air snorkel but much larger opening at the front. I'd also like to modify how the snorkel feeds into the airbox - if I've made the changes just explained, the join into the airbox will be the next bottleneck. I'm going to buy a spare snorkel/top half of the aribox. Can someone tell me what I need to make these changes? I've heard of plastic welding... do I need to do that? Thanks for any help in advance. Also open to going completely custom if I can get the materials and the know-how to do it fromt scratch, but would prefer to use the stock box and modify it, cos then at least it will look stock-ish. I'd like to use the same kind of material at the very least.
  13. That's exactly what happened to me. Moving != gone.
  14. I was run into by someone in the same situation as that woman a few months ago. No offence, but THIS is exactly why I completely ignore what is coming from the right until the person in front of me has merged and is completely gone. I hate it when I see people in front of me who are going to merge looking to the right to see what's coming, instead of looking at the person in front of them who has yet to merge! Who on earth cares what traffic is coming if the person in front of you isn't gone? Esp if you plan on booting it. Anyway, accident analysis by the damage inspectors should get you in the clear. If it went too far, I'd take her to court and have road forensic scientists tell her she's an idiot.
  15. When it comes to cars, I only deal in bank cheques and a well-lit, public meeting place during the day.
  16. I thought as much too. Thanks. I explained it to Dad who I think was the one who went 'that won't be any good!' BTW, that teg goes HARD for the amount of effort/petrol he (doesn't) have to put into it. Meanwhile mine sits out back with a busted turbo while I save up
  17. My brother got a flat on his Integra yesterday, and I saw that he and dad left his emergency spare lying on the grass outside the house... I went and asked why (cos I was worried it would get stolen) and they said because his other (aftermarket) wheels are much larger than the spare so the car wouldn't be straight, and therfore it was useless. Now: I'm pretty sure they are just +1, so the spare SHOULD fit and at least drive the short distances it was intended for, right? I've got 18's on my R33 GTST (so I guess that's +2), and my spare looks TINY compared to my rims (even smaller in comparison than my bro's looked), but the spare should still be useful right? It's the outside/rolling diameter which is important, and I'm pretty sure mine are the same as stock...
  18. If I'm mobile by then...
  19. Err I only see light stuff passing over us. But then again, since when has anyone reporting weather related info been accurate ...
  20. Dammit - still waiting on the new turbo to go in. Looks like it'll be done by the end of February. I'd be interested after then. Ultimate Tunes has an awesome screen and display and friendly guys. Autotech had a titchy little screen - lame. Dunno about ESP. Anyone know what their setup is?
  21. My guess is the turbo is dying. Mine squealed/made a whizzing sound when it died. Did it in neutral too.
  22. Take it to a mechanic.
  23. Take a whole container of spare premixed coolant! Saved me. And newspaper just in case your engine overheats and spits boiling coolant all down the side of your car
