  1. I just blew my (stock) turbo (on stock boost) casually driving home at normals revs and speed. I limped it to my mechanic, and when the heard the "whizzing" noise mine made when I revved it, he instantly said the turbo is dead. Hope you have some savings!
  2. I asked Shannons before anyone else when I bought the car, but they wouldn't talk to me cos the car isn't garaged. Thanks, gotta put a turbo in before it can even be moved though I don't expect I'll see it back before next year.
  3. There's worse, I'm just having a moan while in the spotlight haha
  4. And to confirm that my car is well and truly cursed, my turbo just blew on the way home during perfectly normal/nice driving I hobbled it straight over to Trojan rather than getting home and not being able to move it again (cos I thought it was gearbox related). I'm going to the coast to try and forget about it, and going to John/Trojan about a replacement on Monday. ... Probably a GTRS or 2835.
  5. Hey Paul, I just read there is a VCT and non-VCT PFC models for the RB25DET. Is this true? If so, how can I tell which mine is (second hand, no box). I don't know the model code right now cos it's at home.
  6. Tried Nisswreck? They are pretty good to deal with. I've bought from them before. http://www.nisswreck.com.au/html/index.php...fault&st=01 Some "recyclers" from an HPI I found. I dunno who does Nissan, as I didn't bother reading through. I think some sell performance parts too, guessing by the names: D1 garage: www.d1garage.com 08 8294 1355 (SA) EKW: www.ekw.com.au 03 9274 4413 (VIC) Ichiban performance: www.ichiban.com.au 02 9600 7066 (NSW) Import Spares: www.importspares.com.au 08 8266 0212 (SA) Japanese Motorsport: www.japanesemotorsport.com.au 08 8260 6919 (SA) Jap Performance: www.japperformance.com.au 02 9601 6715 (NSW) Just Jap Auto Imports: (I doubt it, mostly new parts and 2nd hand bolt-ons from what I've seen): .... Remember, I have NFI who is good in that list, you'll have to figure out. Oh, and the mag is a bit old, some might be defunct.
  7. Cos I've heard bad stories about Precision too anyway. Plus, they've "instructed" me to go to Kershaws. I told them on the phone I'd heard bad stuff about Precision and they said I had to take it to whoever they picked next and if it's a problem afterwards then they'll deal with it. Since I don't get a choice, if there's a problem I'll just throw it back at them. No skin off my back other than wasting my time (which is the same as if I just waited for some repairer in particular, this should have been fixed 2 weeks ago).
  8. OK, so AAMI told me the next place to take the car: anyone had a GOOD experience with Jim Kershaw in Mitchell? I've PM'ed race_snooze who apparently had a bad experience. Hopefully someone else has had good luck with them before though. Either way, the repairs will have a lifetime garantee through JCI. Funny thing is, their first choice was Precision Panels, but apparently they are too busy. I've heard some dodgy-ass stuff about Precision. They did an OK job on my civic but forgot to reconnect the rear wiper jet. How do u reckon they pick em?!.... names out of a hat?
  9. Oh... I just meant the blades haha I reckon it makes a difference if it's still got the original blades on it (as opposed to just replacing the rubber). If the paint bugs ya, just repaint them. Yeah I'm mostly replacing the radiator cos I wanna go back to the track without overheating, it's fine under normal conditions. 600kms+ a tank? Jebus.... You're cars pretty much stock right? Mine is too (power wise) and I'm lucky to get 400 :| I wanna know your secret! Oh.... I just realised you live in Murrumbateman so a lot of your kms are probably highway - I get about 1.5 as far on the same petrol on the highway too, so I guess that makes sense.
  10. Donnan! You cheeky monkey I was wondering if u were gonna merge in further up the queue or heading to Woden. I'm too paranoid to try those kinda shenanigans Saw ya up the top of Belco a few minutes later as I turned off too. I had buckley's of returning that wave lol Only saw ya as you flew past me... doing all of 10kph
  11. Get thee to a mechanic.
  12. I'm driving mine around without the cover on ATM cos noone can see it and I'm too lazy to put it back (have to pull the intake pipe off). Legal? NFI, ring the RTA, they are the only ones who can give a definite answer.
  13. I think a20089 tried out the EBC Yellowstuff, ask him how he went (or he could post here . I use EBC Red, so does Derek at 5th Gear in his 32. I'm happy with mine. I haven't run them on a track for a decent amount of time but they are (IMO) good on the road.
  14. - Maybe consider a new O2 sensor if you have NFI what state it's in (original), esp if you're suspicious of your mileage. - Try pressing lightly on your radiator if it is the original. If it's VERY easy to cave in/collapse, it needs replacing (like mine does, and it's about the same age as yours I think). - Should also do the hard drive/head under the bonnet at night test to see if your coilpacks are still ok - new plugs and leads won't help at all if the coils are shot, but you'd know if they were (the mid rev-range farting). - Change your wiper blades (and arms) you'd be surprised
  15. This needs update, Marc @ Discount Tyre Service has moved away (I think he still owns the shop, but he's operating another one in another city/town now).
  16. Yesterday I found some rubber grommets/spacer type things sitting at the bottom of a 2 inches deep puddle of water they managed to put in my boot (worked on it in the rain?). I expect this has everything to do with my noises. Suggest you go speak to Professional Panel and Paint (on the same road as Toy World in Fyshwick but on the other side), or Tony Farrugia. I got a very good impression from Pro P & P when I spoke to them and will most likely go there or Farrugia if I ever plump for a full repaint. Look up Farrugia/Farugia (some spell it differently) on here and it's all glowing comments. In keeping with not poo-poo'ing anyone directly on here, I think maybe we should start up feedback threads for individual local services. Of course, we'd stick to the "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" policy within each thread, but we could also have a single "don't go here" thread for ppl to vent without naming names. If you read a horror story on there and wanna know who did what, simply PM the person/people who posted their story. There will ALWAYS be some negative comments about every business, but I think this could be useful to avoid certain local businesses who have gained poor reputation through repeated bad dealings with multiple punters on here, and it would also strengthen the name of the businesses that deserve it!
  17. Far out, I was there between 11 and 12 and cruised past the skyline area 3 times - didn't see anyone I know! Maybe you were hiding from the heat I was kinda hoping to see some RC cars again. GF was disappointed we couldn't find any hearses, they were on the map. I don't think it was as big as last year when it was held near old Parliament house. The demonstration of spray painting by kickass kustom was impressive though
  18. lol PM like the others did if it's too hard lol Just realised - Oh No! Mokeys!!
  19. PMs sent. I copied and pasted from one of the earlier ones I sent, so it's a little out of date but has the relevant info. I'd love to think spreading the word would send them on their merry way to bankruptcy, but I know a lot of average joes who aren't "car people" would either a) not notice their bad work or b) not want to fight "the man" My insurer is Just Cars. They've been fine so far. Will see what happens when my satisfaction is in their hands (now the repairer doesn't have it any more). I also said I'm not giving the car back to them, regardless what they decide to do. Something of interest: even though u can ring JCI from like 8am to 6pm, you can only ring the repair counsellor type people from 830am to 530pm. I wonder if charades counts Someone tell me if this it out of line, but I've only stated facts too, as a20089 pointed out. 1st word: ***** kicked Goliath's a55 2nd word: My fingers are attached to my ****s. Should be enough info. using yellowpages.com.au. I didn't even have to filter down to ACT results. Another REALLY annoying thing: I was driving home in the car from work yesterday and even over the heavily pouring rain, I could hear some crazy loud creaking/groaning from the back of the car every time I went over any bumps. I think the way they've reattached the bumper, something isn't secured properly and is rubbing against whatever it's attached to, making my car sound like a spanish galleon at full tilt in a squall!!! Quite an achievement, I must say.
  20. If my insurance company won't resolve the issue, yep @ ^ Hopefully won't get that far though.
  21. The bumper is still a dog's dinner. It's slightly better aligned on the right (still not "right"), but the LHS was obviously forced out just to make the RHS line up better. The paint is exactly as it was the first time. They even had to get the lackey who did the work come out from the workshop to come and see where the ****ed up. Gotta get it inspected by the insurer's assessor on Monday/Tuesday. If he doesn't say "yep it needs to be fixed" within 10 seconds of seeing the car, then I'll be damned.
  22. I just rang, they think they're finished again - we'll see around lunchtime today. Will post follow up. I don't expect they'll have done it properly this time around, otherwise they wouldn't have even presented it to me as they did 1st time around. PMs sent to those who asked.
